Take it from someone who has liked tight, well made German and Japanese cars for years now... the 'Cruze' is a winner! I rode in one while visiting relatives abroad, and it is well made, has good fit and finish, nice interior, and a nice, smooth refined ride! Kudos to Chevy!
i just test drove a turbo cruze today. now i see why these are so popular. VERY quiet and smooth ride. feels very premium like no joke laugh at me if you want. very planted and sporty too. 186 HP engine with 38 average stick highway? im going to buy one. i was very impressed well done chevy.
While i was in China my aunt had this car... you won't believe how quite it is, you can barely hear any noise, but the quality is what you find in american cars all plastic interior
I've had the chance to drive the 1.4 turbo LT with the 6 speed auto a couple months back (GM was offering test drives of their new vehicles) and it was very impressive...felt much more responsive than the Civic or Corolla ... interior was much nicer too...people can say what they want...drive one and you will be surprised...I just hope the quality holds up over the years.
Am going to be buying one to use as a taxi. Little smaller than my current one by the looks of it..but I have a test drive Friday to Tuesday. Hope its as good as the reviews say
For those who say "Daewoo this," and "Daewoo that," Chevy is in a GLOBAL market. The Cruze's development was aided by GM Korea; highly respected and second largest manufacturer in Korea. The Cruze is nothing less because GM Daewoo--now GM Korea--largely helped design the car. That's not far from saying, "Oh, I wouldn't drive a Ford Focus because it was newly designed by Europeans." GM Korea is a division of GM, so it's still a GM vehicle. It's a global market now, get use to it.
@ocelotxp I can see where you're coming from but I enjoyed the vanilla rentals before I bought the SS. But as you say, the Turbo coupe is in a different league with interior and styling, not to mention that kickin' motor. Man I love my car!
3100 miles in 2 months on my 1lt..mpg has been 36-39 average..13.5 gallons gives me 475-510 miles...$49-$53 to fill up..it runs quite on the freeway..the bad news is that it's slow especially when merging
I like it a lot. I would, however, like to see a hatchback and coupe version. The domestics tend not to offer different styles, which is disappointing seeing as I am a patriot and will only buy american.
The compact car segment will be the most competitive in years. The Chevy Cruze and the all new Hyundai Elantra. The new 2012 Ford Focus and 2012 Honda Civic will be here soon and you still have the Mazda 3, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, and Volkswagen Golf. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these cars.
It's not a brand new 2011 car. People were driving this car in Central Asia and Russia since 2008. It was built by GM Daewoo in South Korea. It's name is GM DAEWOO LACETTI PREMIERE. Look for more videos under GM DAEWOO LACETTI PREMIERE and you'll see.
My '02 Fuckus doesn't have the lowest cost of ownership, since I had it starting in Oct. 2008, it's been in the shop 5 times and each repair has been over $300 at the least! And we got it with a perfect CarFax report. So one point goes to Honda and one away from FORD! hahaha
LOL at the guy's green wrist band. It is as if the dealer ran out salesman and decided to grab a guy from a theme park booth, dress him up, get him to read the quick reference guide, roll the camera and poofff... VIOLA! LOL
Guarantee you that "woven dash" piece is gonna start separating from the rest of the dash within 6 months. Nothing to do with it being a chevy, just the fact I've never seen an insert, woven or not, that has not separated as such.
I read on MSN autos that the base model Cruze destined for Canada will be available with out A/C. Are the Americans so ignorant to think that Canada doesn't have hot days during the summer where A/C would be a good thing? They say it's in an effort to lower the base price but if they put it in the really compact Aveo why not the Cruze?
I saw it for real n I went inside it.Looks good in black,it even attracts many people.Going inside reminds me of Transformers movie.I noticed some oily plastic quality which is bad.I like the smart leather dashboard which cover the cheapy plastic.
@avengful EXACTLY, ''because they're made in the US'' they are trying to keep costs competitive yet build them in the US and hold their reputation, and still pay US wages. Plus US workers just don't take pride in their work, like back in the old days. Toyotas top rated vehicles are all out of Japan.
This car is truly a Frankenstein monster: built with help from Germany, Australia, South Korea, China, Russia and India. I can't wait to see how badly it falls flat on its face when they compare it to the Civic or Corolla.
For sure it's not! However in some countries, for example Brazil, Civics are considered sedans for the high middle class just as Corollas, and they're many times, the dream cars of a lot of people!
@avengful Come on which Chrysler product has had brake override in 2003? I'd like to know, because the Japanese were always the first to come out with new technology always way more years advanced then the us. For instance Traction Control ABS, brake force distribution, brake assist, DAC, UAC all the important acronyms lol
will be Chevys biggest selling car, and i will be getting it as well, saw it at the Detroit Autoshow, the ltz model is very fine! ...Ford wasnt too good looking at the Autoshow though, sorry to disappoint
@valkyrieXX Ahhh.... NO. Read something else besides Wikipedia. J300 project is the code name for the GM "Cruze" models around the globe. That engineering project has been headquartered in Germany... Rüsselsheim to be more exact. It has been badged as the Daewoo in South Korea, where it was further designed into the Lacetti. Now, Rüsselsheim is the place where Opel is headquartered. So... Opel personnel design the cars and those cars get badged as different (GM) brands around the globe.
@captainalbator Oh, but they are. In some places people get something called snow and they get a lot of it. Trucks and SUVs are necessary to get in and off of those dirt back roads. We can't all live on paved city streets.
@EpiDemic117 dont get me wrong rollas and civics are great quality cars that will last for a long time,if you treat them right, but i do believe chevy has the technology to produce a car that can compete with them
sat in one..nice vehicle but not impressed. My 2003 Acura (with 98k miles) is still head and shoulders above in quality. The interior of the Cruze still feels cheap and the controls, buttons, and levers still lack the silkiness found in my Acura. I would suggest those interested in this vehicle look at a certified, pre-owned Acura or Honda; better deal, proven quality and reliability, and a kickass engine that doesn't quit!
The chevrolet cruze looks great, especially for a car expected to be around $20,000. I would definitely rather buy this than stupid Toyota and their faulty brakes. Chevy rocks!!
Developing this car has cost Chevrolet expenditure an average of $5million a day. Hundreds of prototypes have been tested to reach their goal. If you happen not to like Cruze, don’t blame its “shortcoming” that doesn’t favour you, think it as a sort of characteristic. visit derekchou for more info!
I had a friend drive me in his Cruze. The interion was so inferior. The rear seat is like cheap fabric layed on a piece of cardboard. All the plastic feels so low end. I will stay with Mitsubishi thank you.
Nice video and very nice car! I read where one car enthusiast was wondering if a small turbo would be as reliable over the long haul as a standard motor. He wasn't sure such a motor could get 150,000 miles on it and that it would cost more to repair it if something did go wrong. Any thoughts??
@happy543210 It is designed in South Korea. The engine is of a German design, and will be built in America. In first hand experience, it is one of the strongest, most durable engine designs in the world. A little on the heavy side (Engine itself is a beast), but will give the Civic and Corolla a run for their money. I can't wait until the day when the Civic and Corolla fall flat on their face when they get compared to the Cruze.
My God, people are stupid. Designed by Koreans? It's identical to the German Opel in its interior, and its chassis and suspension are directly from Opel. It was tested in Germany.
Do you all know how big of a deahtrap this car is? It did catastrophically bad in the small overlap, and the moderate overlap... Yes, for a 2011 car. This was the only car from Euroncap post 2010 to have the A Pillar pushed back 5 cm.
Give me a break, Joe Wiesenfelder! You think the exterior styling of the Cruze is "just OK"? What do you feel is better - the boring styling on the ubiquitous Toyota Corolla, or the non-existent front end of the Honda Civic, where you barely see the hood of the car from the driver's seat? I'll take the Cruze over a Corolla or Civic any day, thank you!
@suzukicarry1 actaully chevy didnt,GM,automotive arm of daewoo owns both of them,they just rebadged them under chevy name,all car companies do it but it seems that ppl have a huge problem when chevy does it
@sloppyoscar U.S. Camrys are assembled in Tennessee. Does that make them any less a foreign car? No. You can't defend the latest gaff by the Great Mistake.
Just to start...Buy American? This is a rebadged Daewoo. But I gotta say, I've loved my Suzuki Forenza (Chevy Lacetti/Daewoo Nubira) and this is the replacement. I think this a fantastic step in the right direction for GM. Their cars have been crap for at least a decade now and I have no trust in my normal favorite brand (Toyota). I really would love to buy domestic, and hopefully this will impress me at the auto show in a month here.
Alright Lay off the Korean Cruze thing. Sure it may have been designed in Korea or Germany. But it's built in the United States at Lordstown Ohio.. Don't believe me? Look it up!
Just seen a Cruze commercial during Glee attacking the Ford Focus now, i'm like fucking seriously GM? that's really gonna make you look good bashing your competition and talking shit when you're the one who filed bankruptcy and fucked up FORD DIDNT....from my point that's not a good marketing pitch.
Take it from someone who has liked tight, well made German and Japanese cars for years now... the 'Cruze' is a winner! I rode in one while visiting relatives abroad, and it is well made, has good fit and finish, nice interior, and a nice, smooth refined ride! Kudos to Chevy!

This looks perfect for my taste! Can't wait to test drive this!

The design is totally selling it for me. I really like it.
For those who say "Daewoo this," and "Daewoo that," Chevy is in a GLOBAL market. The Cruze's development was aided by GM Korea; highly respected and second largest manufacturer in Korea. what happened to the cobalt now they have cruze make up your mind choose cobalt or cruze?
I like it a lot. I would, however, like to see a hatchback and coupe version. The domestics tend not to offer different styles, which is disappointing seeing as I am a patriot and will only buy american.

Looks impressive at first look, but why the old style trunk hinges that take up valuable space?
if you've seen cars from the 80s and 70s you'd realize cars have not gotten bigger.

Man I wish they wouldn't kill the Cobalt... It is a likeable car and most teens drive it because of its price...
@matrixloader no it isn't, other way around. They are retooling factories in the US to build this.
Guarantee you that "woven dash" piece is gonna start separating from the rest of the dash within 6 months. Nothing to do with it being a chevy, just the fact I've never seen an insert, woven or not, that has not separated as such.

And the removable steering wheel makes entry and exit a breeze! (Not to mention making trips on the highway very exciting!
@GSXRMark99 not really,all car companies do it,my gf's mom has the new s65 and she even admits it looks like one of the older version of volvo
does anyone know what's the starting price of this car?
I think would buy this over a Civic, When I was in the UK i saw one that was ,black with white BBS wheels it looked sexy.
@kentman900 no, it's not. the US version will be produced in the Lordstown plant in Ohio.
2:07 Why do they keep a Cobalt lurking in the background as a grim reminder of past years?!
@Luccasio1 Its suspension is Opel....
I think it looks very good
will be Chevys biggest selling car, and i will be getting it as well, saw it at the Detroit Autoshow, the ltz model is very fine!
this guy likes everything
@DJonX7 Finally someone with some sense!
@avengful EXACTLY, ''because they're made in the US'' they are trying to keep costs competitive yet build them in the US and hold their reputation, and still pay US wages. The Redesigned Ford Focus is going to kill this.

So true.
We want a hatchback version. I'd even take a station wagon. Please.
and u know this because u driven the exact one thats coming to the US?
Yes,I like to Chevrolet Cruze.I assure drivability. The car's suspension.
Why don't chevy comeback with the S-10? they still make it in Brazil even has a turbo diesel and looks better than the oversized toys made over here
@bluestarkad17
That's exactly right. I have actually driven one. Thank you for asking. Have a great day.
@LTF85199 Its actually a korean daewoo, much like the Aveo
looks like a winner for Chevy
will be Chevys biggest selling car, and i will be getting it as well, saw it at the Detroit Autoshow, the ltz model is very fine!
...Ford wasnt too good looking at the Autoshow though, sorry to disappoint
its that rwd car ???
ok this guy was defiantly paid by chevy. He pointed out points that most people would heavily criticize and said it's not bad? WTF
@valkyrieXX Ahhh.... NO.

There are just so many stories in the comment box, i don't know which one to believe.
A million times better than the Cobalt. I think they'll do well with this.
I had a friend drive me in his Cruze. The interion was so inferior. The rear seat is like cheap fabric layed on a piece of cardboard. All the plastic feels so low end. I will stay with Mitsubishi thank you.
I'd get the Ford Fiesta or the new Focus that'll be coming out sometime next year over the Chevrolet Cruze. Go Ford!!!
give it to me with the SS badge and I am sold.
but this caar technically isnt rebadged, as the North american model is made here in the states no?
Nice video and very nice car!
I read where one car enthusiast was wondering if a small turbo would be as reliable over the long haul as a standard motor. He wasn't sure such a motor could get 150,000 miles on it and that it would cost more to repair it if something did go wrong. Any thoughts??
@SuperSportSS
Your point? My statement stands. GM doesn't make this car. Daewoo does.
@USAon3 Cruze ECO, 28 city, 42 highway, look it up.
@panteondebelen Renault is French, they just own a Korean car company.
I wonder the same! Everyone just argues with each other and calls each other bad names. =O
@happy543210 It is designed in South Korea. The engine is of a German design, and will be built in America. @burgandy25
i agree with him. it won't sell to anyone in particular
@Zinizzle You mean Ford Mondeo
@yonner490 Dude, the car's not out yet.
Do you all know how big of a deahtrap this car is? It did catastrophically bad in the small overlap, and the moderate overlap... Yes, for a 2011 car. This was the only car from Euroncap post 2010 to have the A Pillar pushed back 5 cm.
LOL @ 1:07 the guy was like thinking to himself, "should I really praise this piece of sh!t?"
I am usually a Japanese import fan, but I might be switching to an American after seeing this one,.
@ocelotxp I own an '09 Cobalt SS Turbo and IMO it's the best all around car ever, hands down.
i want that carrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
@RobertBentleyUS It look descent, I wouldn't buy it, but yea, it much better than the older generation
Instead of trying to find a car that trys to compete with Honda Civic, why not just buy a Honda Civic?
Nice DAEWOO has realy improved last decade hasnt it '???
Give me a break, Joe Wiesenfelder! You think the exterior styling of the Cruze is "just OK"? What do you feel is better - the boring styling on the ubiquitous Toyota Corolla, or the non-existent front end of the Honda Civic, where you barely see the hood of the car from the driver's seat? i'm going to get this car , cause its 12.000$ .... and 140 hp 1.8 l engine ( in my country )
@suzukicarry1 actaully chevy didnt,GM,automotive arm of daewoo owns both of them,they just rebadged them under chevy name,all car companies do it but it seems that ppl have a huge problem when chevy does it
omg, it's a "Twenty-Eleven", not a "Two-Thousand-Eleven"!
I think the Hyundai Elantra wins in the compact market.
What do you mean by "NOT BAD" When you sit in the back seat and you almos stuck there???
@sloppyoscar
U.S. Camrys are assembled in Tennessee. Does that make them any less a foreign car?
No.

lo acaban de meter al mercado mexicano y ya lo estan llamando a revision...que lata no creen?
I just love this car!! The designs for me says: move bitch or I´ll move you!! haha It´s a rude front haha It´s in my top 10
@hondacivic1992 Yep, its a Daewoo.
@daveyboygee The Cobalt SS Turbo is a VERY different car from the vanilla Cobalt. I'm talking about the vanilla Cobalt-- it's horrible.
@insertgenericnameher
Their sales numbers would HAVE to be up. Anything more than zero is "up".
Corvette90100: *Tiida (Versa)
