Oh, how nostalgic... What a treat! Whiffs of Battlestar Galactica and Buck rogers. I loved the complete 1970's cheesy retro yumminess of this fun short. The actors were able to suspend disbelief, and of course, we all do too. I'd love a series about these two!
Don't forget the Star Wars blaster pistol Gallagan uses! This is like the best late 70's SF series I never got to see.
Wonderfull
Yeah her tight pants are kinda like Colonel Wilma Deering's pants from Buck Rogers.. That was the best part of this show.
5:4 aspect ratio would have been a bonus
@@bradgarrett7790 Seconded. I described this as Star Wars, Battlestar Gralactica (TOS) meets Buck Rogers. I like how the intro made little sense but I was still totally into it.
Hello everyone!
I'm Pau Perramon, director of Bruce Gallagan. Thanks to Dust and to you for watching :) Feel free to ask me anything about the short film.
I am a film maker and respectfully wanted to ask, why did you decide to distribute with dust? Cool movie and cool platform.
@@vinarkmp I had known Dust for years (as anyone who loves sci fi!). They actually approached me and I thought it was a great opportunity for Bruce Gallagan as it would get a great level of exposure. I'm glad how things unfolded with their dedicated team. What are your films about, vinark?
Thank you, my friend, that was fun.
Why were the labels in English?
@@patriciacvener1968 hi! Because this is the way we watched these american shows in Spain : dubbed from english 😊 It's a nostalgic short film, and I wanted to be faithful to my own experience watching those serials. I understand it's shocking for certain audiences and it's something I wouldn't do again if additional Bruce Gallagan adventures were to come 😉 Thank you for watching!
Yes! We need a Bruce Gallagan series in all its '70s cheesy sci-fi glory!
its been a long time since ive seen a girl that was hard to get.well done bruce
First: Oh yeah, Buck Rogers!
Later: ¡Ay sí!, Buck Rõgers!
That. was. GLORIOUS! Leaning so completely and unashamedly into the 1970s aesthetic was just delightful.
That was gloriously cheesy! I love it!
At 2 minutes im like "this is stupid " at 4 minutes, im all in. Go Bruce!
I’d watch this as a full length movie or a series! 👏🏽 BRAVO 👏🏽
Wonderfully retro! Loved it ❤️ Thank you for sharing 😊
This is just so so so fckin great!!
Man, this is such an absolutely rich, juicy, tasty love letter to the 80s! Can we please have some more?
I haven't seen an English Sci fi dubbed in Spanish before. Lol
Same, it was extremely trippy!
This was such a welcome throwback to the likes of Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers and Doc Savage. Good stuff. More would be very appreciated. ✌️🖖
That was fun! I hope we can see more adventures of Bruce Gallagan!
Seventies style, great looking actors....Did I awake in my childhood ?
That was adorable 😍 like a mix of star wars from the 70s and Battlestar Galactica nostalgic and almost reminiscent of a parody like space balls I LOVE IT!
Love the "boink" when he drops the grenade into the creatures mouth!....super retro short!
Yeah that was fun. Nothing over-the-top, deep, or complicated. Just an enjoyable take on old adventure sci-fi.
It felt cheap and cheesy all the way thru ! I have a new favorite movie . Well done all involved , good on ya's .
You had me at the black screen with blinking cursor and "enter password" for RETRO FABULOUS! Thanks for the fun ride!
I was hoping Bruce would enter "12345". 🤣
@@Scriptor13 I would have fallen off my seat! Hilarious!
@@Scriptor13 That's the same combination as my luggage!
@@DistracticusPrime 😆👍
That was a lot of fun! Jason of Star Command for a new generation!
Yep, the old grenade in the rock monster's mouth trick. Bruce is marvelous !!
When you fight it out in deep space, headlights and tail lights are musts, right? Jeez. And why are the robot thingies communicating in vocal language? Fun, anyway.
Great job everyone. I felt like a kid again at the Saturday afternoon matinee. Thank you.
The best flick since Space: 1999...😊
Gracias! Mucho gracias!
This took me back to my childhood and shows like Buck Rogers.
This was so fun to watch. I like the combination of live action and CGI--without worrying about realism. This is about telling a fun story. And I had such fun watching it.
Keep it up.
That was great! Everything from jet packs to rock climbing on monsters, to a kiss. Bravo! Thanks for posting the content. Keep it up!
AMAZING 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾🇬🇧💙
This is the cheesiest 80s bootleg foreign language Star Wars. I love it.
In the sequence from 2:11 you can see words on the screen reflected in his face. The problem is that the reflected words should be reversed, i.e. read right-to-left.
much retro! so cheese! bloody brilliant!
Certified Gold!!!!!
3mins in and I am wondering why a ship full of robots need life support for humans. I am enjoying watching this all the same.
OK, I loved the use of the dial up modem sound effect when the engine was having issues. That was awesome!
Most excellency thanks it was very good!
Gotta love the colourful explosions
With a title like "Bruce Gallagan" I expected retro cheesy campiness, and that's exactly what I got. So bad it's good. Love some of the tossed in visual and audio Easter eggs, too.
Did anyone else notice the dial-up modem sound?
More Bruce please 👍
Fantastic! I miss movies of this style.
Very nice! I like this short movie. Thanks for entertainment!
This better not be another star wars prequel.
That was a fun trip down retro avenue (it isn't memory lane, but it sure looks like it!)
Would love to see more of this.
This reminds me of the graphics from the original Star Wars.
State of the art back then..... nostalgic now.
Well done!
@ 7:28 the airplane engine noises during that loop was a touch of brilliance
I think there are references to Buck Roger and Galactica in that short. Delightful for those who like retro futuristic sci-fi. I loved it!
I regret not being a polyglot. The subtitles detracted from the feature but not to such a degree as to spoil things. Tremendous fun.
The subtitles were part of the extra cheese on the shtik.
@@0neIntangible it also felt like the dialog the actors were speaking wasn't quite matching their mouth movements.
ADORABLE!! A B-movie like the ones I saw as a kid... Nice and ironic!
thank you AlbertoNencioni! That was my intention: replicating what I saw, heard and felt with those shows. Which was your favourite?
"I'm gonna go get the papers, get the papers."
new ep of "Bruce Gallagan" every week!!!
Please!!! 🚀🛸
Very Cute . . . The Adventures Of " Bruce Gallagan " . . . :-)
Yes, that's true. A big fail if you ask me. There were no such modern modems back in the seventies.
Maravilloso! Me encantó! Deberían hacer una serie con este carácter.
Bruce Gallagan! Oh, why wasn't this a Saturday morning thing in the 70s when I was growing up?
Nostalgia is on overdrive here, I cannot help but love it.
Boy, just like watching the old buck Rogers films ( I mean the OLD ones ) ! Really enjoyed it ! Need more of these films you don't have to rack your brains out on what the plot is !
This was fun.
Ship designs were great.
Story fine too.
Kids would enjoy this a lot.
Well this was effing great! Congrats!
Your amazing.. Love your outlook on films..
You're.
You are = You're.
Period.
Was I the only one disappointed when Bruce didn't start speaking in a heavily accented American English voice? Bruce Gallagan is such a late 20th century American sounding sci-fi, Indiana Jones type name. So much backstory for having everyone understand each other, yet speak in their own languages. Oh well!
Funny enough, it was shot in English and then dubbed into Spanish, because that's how those kind of shows were broadcasted in Spain.
Yes, you were the only one who was disappointed. The actor is Spanish; he's from Barcelona. Most of the actors are latin, so did their own dubbing I believe.
@@hilaryc3203 Wow, you mean to tell me that people who speak Spanish, are usually "Latin?" Damn, silly me... And here I was think these guys actually speak Mandarin but chose to use Spanish instead...
I still think it was a huge missed opportunity to not have the guy with the mid 20th century, cheesy SciFi sounding name you'd find in American stories from the same time speak in a thick American accent.
It would be like having the characters in a story about the middle ages and having the Scottish guy speak in the language the audience understands, or having that character speak in the language, and with the corresponding accent, that adds an layer of depth you'd otherwise miss in a short.
Remember, as a writer you have to pack as much as you can into the allotted time. Ina piece that's under 15 minutes you can only add depth in so many ways. To give the guy all the more feel of a cocky, SciFi character to fit the visual ambiance, just changing his voice to separate him from everyone else would have easily done that without the need for additional dialog to set the characters disposition.
Cocky American voice, cocky character persona, game, set, match.
@@Benson_aka_devils_advocate_88 the option of making the main character talk english with heavy accent is a valid idea, but it doesn't mean dubbing doesn't add depth. American films are all over the world, and dubbing is a practice done in many countries. In those places, kids don't watch tv shows in the original language, they get the dubbed version. Think about this film as a way to see how people abroad watch american shows.
Great fun! Thank you!
I can't believe how much I enjoyed this! Nostalgia maybe? Perhaps. Yet the simplicity Washington so tasteful! I'd definitely watch a full-time length feature film!
Gracias! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Commenting in advance based solely on the filmmaker's interview that this is an amazing, masterful, heartfelt work of art. Will update below 👇🏽 when I get round to watching.
Excellent fun. The style is entertaining and well executed here.
Thank you, Simon! It was a joy to re-watch many of those shows trying to understand the aesthetic and tone. There are some departures (like certain camera movements that weren't possible in the 70s) but overall that was the intention.
Much better than Disney !
Excelente producción clase B , solo falto mi madre llamándome a merendar...😎
en mi caso regañándote porqué no estaba haciendo los deberes 😅🤣
That was so cheesy I could smell it.
And I absolutely loved every second of it.
Very entertaining and nostalgic.
6:43 It's a old modem sound? Btw, great movie, congrats 👍😎.
The best of 70s FX.
Absurdamente buena, gracias!!
This is so well done, the 80s style is so gewd ❤
Cheesy yes, perhaps a few steps beyond the Thungerbirds but rather cute! Mission accomplished!
Incredibly cool and good DUST SHORT FILM, wow!
The name of the main character: "BRUCE GALLAGAN" sounds familiar to me! But unfortunately I don't know why or from what.
Also super nice that this DUST SHORT FILM is in SPANISH!
It's just a pity that the English subtitles are often just not legible very well, especially when the image behind it is quite light in terms of colors!
TIP: make the English subtitles in thicker and more white colored letters, then they are always legible!
Thanks for your review, Lex!
when I first wrote the name of Bruce Gallagan I didn't know where it came from, it just sounded right for a space hero. Cheers!
@@Brinco-tv: Ok....!
But do you now know what that name is known for?
Or is my thinking about it wrong and is that name used by you for the first time?
And would you please take my good tip with regard to English subtitles for your next films?
@@lexfauser3009 tip noted! Thanks for your support, Lex.
@@lexfauser3009 I invented the name! I remember thinking of things like Galaxa or Gattaca, it just sounds retro and sci fi! if there's anyone else called Gallagan might be a coincidence. I just recall that the creator of Breaking Bad had a similar name (Vince Gilligan)
Definitely has a Saturday morning cartoon feel to it. The retro goofy non-science. Why were we shown an English video overdubbed in Spanish? All the words were English on the sets and the credits. Would have loved to see it in English.
I want that style to be a video game! 😍
11:55 what a mind blowing effect 😂
I would play such game!!
@JfrediK that would be awesome!
Absolute perfection!
Excellent job! A fun 70´s - 80´s SciFi movie. I really enjoyed it, so nostalgic! Keep up the good work!
Brilliant Sound Production on this! I do love it when attention is paid to the audio dynamics of spaces. Fantastic stuff!
Wow!! Well done ! Finally a very good retro cheesy sci Fi ! Necesito más ciencia ficción maravillosamente cutre como esta. Y encima hecha en España. After watching this humongous sci Fi short, I can only say: ¡olé!
Gracias Enrique!!
Prove it!" Mientras saltaba por los aires la estación de vigilancia...
@@astenolit sí, esa escena era muy impactante. Es verdad que una no hace mejor o peor la otra, son dos propuestas muy distintas. Me flipaba que Richard Hatch estuviera en las dos.
Uh... Okay I get it, 70's send up and all. Good job. Really enjoyed it. What's throwing me off is the dubbing? It seems like it's dubbed in Spanish with English subtitles, but the characters do not seem to be speaking Spanish.
What a fantastic sci fi short film
Wow... swooped me back to childhood for a minute.
Muchas gracias.
....definitely remnants of Battlestar Galactica. Fun to watch the classic looks.
MEGA! I'll have some more of that please!
This was so nice, holesome, fun, thank you.
This was great! The Spanish dub but English lip reading threw me for a loop!
Everything is in English except for them speaking and the subtitles are like a million miles an hour.
¯_(ツ)_/¯ is that part of the .. ? Joke ? The show? At some point. I keep losing what's going on.
I SUPPOSE I COULD... slow it to like 1/2 speed. =p
Or you a it just me. Jo one else seems to have an issue. 😞 yep it's just me.
Absolutely charming. Also the music was fantastic.
What fun! Thanks!
I didn't understand it, but it's silly and whimsical, therefore I loved it!
Edge of the seat stuff. Dead set didn't think Bruce would make it back. 😮😮😂😂
Excelente!! Me recuerda mucho a la Battlestar Galactica original!! Felicitaciones!!
Excellent!! Loved it! 😍
This is amazing! Thank you!
Si esto hubiera salido hace 40 años hubiera Sido un éxito xd
Very enjoyable and entertaining 🙏👍
❤️ Jorge Lucas 👍
This is literally one of the coolest things I've ever seen!
Molt maco, Pau Perramon
Gracies Toni 😊
Wow loved it! Mas, por favor!
EPIC!
It was a Fun and Feel-good Sci-fi " Loved It "💯🚀✨
