Everyone seems to forget that Jason was the only one that could keep time. That’s why they were so tight and always in pocket. Jason was just too metal for them. James and Lars are giant egomaniacs that's why lol
Yup!
All these years later and he still has to be an asshole towards Jason?
Wow that was really uncomfortable to watch. James still needs a therapist.
The way Jason was all but deleted from the mix and overall disrespected was a disgrace. They paid him, but he earned more than pay. He earned respect and the rest of them failed.
Jason was an awesome bass player and you guys BLEW IT!!
I bet working with Hetfield and Ulrich is backbreaking.
And this is just before james going to rehab again , thinking of jason and his pick that saved the band ❤
Jason was the GOAT. They never made another good record without him. He wasn’t a main writer but him being in the band gave them a different spirit.
So true man, so true.
ehhh
Hardwired to self destruct is the real "Metallica-sounding" album post Jason Newsted (with some Death Magnetic songs that are good)
Jason quería componer pero nunca lo permitieron.
I mean, Load and Reload aren't as good as DM. You have to give Rob that much credit.
Jason Newsted's bass technique was a HUGE part of the Black album. If the Black album had never been made, Metallica would has never been huge. It is unquestionably their peek in terms of mass market success.... Because album sales are something you can actually measure, there's a metric there to say Jason helped bring the band their most successful period. They really shouldn't be disrespecting his legacy.
It’s like getting told off by your boss at work and him reminding you why they sacked the last guy 😲😳😂
Except they didn't sack him. He left cuz he got tired of playing with pussies.
Except the last guy wasn't fired. They lost Jason because of their egos.
I love how ttheir band manages to capture and convey such a high level of energy.
Just say it James, he's never gonna replace Jason. Jason was like a brother to you.
And a TRUE Metallica fan, 100% competent musician & compositor
@@FacundoSS_Guitarist Jason was my favorite as a kid growing up learning who metallica was. He was basically me, the guy that wanted to be in the band and actually got in the band. Also I was bullied by my older step brothers, so I related to him. Somehow even before he left the band I felt those undertones, and then when I seen the music video I disappear I was sad to see he literally got bullied. I was like damn, he's really a good guy thats being put down. Never did he get to be seen as the true stong man he really is.
Jason was the man, Jason is the MAN. Respect.
Rob: Oh sorry, I forgot that he f***ing left the band👍
I prefer Rob when he plays for Suicidal and Infectious Grooves
best era of ST was with Rob on bass for sure.
💯 only reason he there is to support his large family unfortunately
Oh James, them memories so sweet :)
Man if only Cliff (R.I.P.), would had use a pick once, hypothetically speaking, as any musician would, this guys wouldn't be talking such BS. Seems like they just grow a bit but never actually changed. They couldn't take their own blame for being such assholes to Jason.
I'm not talking for kirk though.
Jason, a true man.
When james was back on the sauce too
Yeah. He was rocking a nice beer gut there.
He still plays it with the pick live
Jason is and will always be my favorite member..
Jason was great in the band, amazing backing vocals and the way hed performe on stage, moviong around, windmilling, looking at the crowd he did it all so well
Metallica at its prime especially in live performances has jason as the bassist and vocals.
JASON RULES
❤❤ Jason is the King for me....i like his style...the way he play and the way in sing....
Fit better then Robert in Metallica
Jason and Blacky from VoiVod where the reason i started to play bass.
Rob is a class act and the most versatile musician in that band by lightyears.
His playing fockin join the band!!!
Jason was the shit. His heavy picking gave a lot of BOOM to The Black Album. I miss that dude and his energy
Perfect sound for that song !!!
He was joking. It's musician humor; he was making a little joke about Rob using a pick when he's known for being a finger-player, and Jason was known for being a pick-player (and, of course, they were playing a Black Album song, too).
If you think James is legitimately saying "you're not allowed to use a pick, because Jason used to use one," you don't know the sense of humor of the band. The guys have always joked around and made jokes at each others' expense.
Right! Rob has played a few songs with a pick!
It was a passive aggressive joke though
For sure!!! Now I can realize the fights amongst the members. There is something that is called respect and amongst the musicians never musted be forgotten but I see it is only a theory.
It was a joke and a shot at Jason. They are mutually exclusive things.
@@vovahimself 100% lol. I hate when people do that if i was rob i would have strait out asked immediately oh are you not happy with me playing with a pick then? Skip to the point
Jason is one of my favourite bass players of all time..
that guy is a beast
Maybe this is just some lighthearted riffing but a lot od things I see point to Rob still being treated as a hired gun instead of a full on contributing member.
Maybe the Jason thing was a joke but Rob seemed genuinely uncomfortable and James made sure to play over him talking into the mic. Just immature and kind of dick-ish. Rob deserves better than that
James often sounds a bit passive/aggressive to Kirk and Rob. Like they annoy him or something.
@Denmark_1974 I agree. It's a shame. Metallica should be more than the James and Lars Project. Kirk has been in the band essentially as long as it's been around. Rob is the longest running bassist and is a monster of a musician
@@grawman67 Some things never change I guess. It always seems like, Kirk and Rob are walking on glass around James. In the jam room situation, the mood kinda depends on what mood James are in. That must be tough.
@@Denmark_1974 It definitely does seem like that. Maybe I'm wrong but it just seems like they still run the show which is silly. It would definitely be tough if that's the case
@@grawman67 yep👍
It's incredible how even time couldn't change James' ego, who by the way is still an asshole.
Some say he became like this after Cliff's death, but the way he and Lars removed Dave from the band, who was fundamental in the riffs that were used on the first 3 albums, shows that James has always been like this and will never change.
I love metallica but I hate this ingratitude and disrespect towards Jason
He is so much more talented than the rest of them!
Rob or Jason?
Jason was the heart and soul of that band when he left millions of fans left with him including me
Jason was the heart and soul of Metallica
Jason is the reason why Metallica exist, with no Jason in Metallica, the band is split up
Why doesn't anyone want to stand up to Hetfield? I guess the fear of losing the paycheck.
While Kirk, Rob and Jason were afraid of James, I think James is afraid of Lars. (notice I didn't mention Dave, because Dave literally smacked James in the face when he attacked his dog)
I guess Robert Trujillo gets paid enough to stay 💵
He should play the way he wants!
Is there a full video of this or a documentary?? I wanna see it
■□James no suelta el Mate ni para Ensayar, Esta Zarpado en Argentino!□■
Yeah, James…we wouldn’t want to sound like others now would we? 😉🎸
Robert is a good guy, no doubt, but man, I really do miss Jason!
They gave a million they think they own him. And they apparently do. What a shame.
James is always jealous of Jason coz jason was able to sign loud and sound crazy on stage. That was the issue. Lars and James wanted someone to shut up and do what they wanted. They’re jealous of him.
To give credit! He is filling some big, heavy shoes! Jason was Metallica in my book! 💯. Made me start playing bass! 👍
the pick is METALLICA!
I honestly think that Cliff died because the universe saw fit to save him from the suffering of being in a band with the rest of them.
I think bass guitar sounds better with a pick especially for metal.
What song was this? Never been big on Metallica but lately I’m digging it
I swear Kirk and Robert are the only ones who still have souls in the band, these videos are hard to watch. Lars and James are strange dudes
Feels like just few years back seeing these guys looking young in their St. Anger phase. Looking at Kirk's all white hair and James' grandpa bod made me realize they got old. :(
I lost all respect for this band after seeing the "Some Kind of Monster"-DVD and till today I didn't find any reason to change my mind.
When you’re dealing with a person who has a very sarcastic sense of humor like James, it can be REALLY hard to tell if they’re joking or being serious.
I’ve rewatched this a few times, and I just rant tell how serious or not he really was being here.
I liked Rob in Suicidal and infectious grooves. His playing and style were perfect in those bands. But Jason was a much better fit for Metallica. He gave it 110% every show. A true thrasher. Headbanging like it’s 1985 every night. Still pissed about how he was treated all these years later.
Jason jamás será superado era el alma de metallica aunque muchos lo nieguen era la calidad .
That sounded so good though
Everyone seems to forget that Jason was the only one that could keep time. That’s why they were so tight and always in pocket. Jason was just too metal for them. And the only member that was never fired. In the S&M doc Michael Kamen said “I had to teach Kirk, Lars, and James what a time signature is.”
They hate Jason because he’s a window into everything wrong with this band, and it wasn’t him.
Pick or no pick... It all peaked 1993..1993-2000.. Good live..
2000.-2024.. 24 years and Four albums with songs no one fucking remembers...
And jason gave it all and that for me was pure fuckin metal
When James acts like this, all I can ever think to myself is that he’s probably thinking “None of you are Cliff and he’s the only one that’s supposed to be here”
Bingo. Losing Cliff was extremely hard for James... every time he looks at their bass player it's a reminder that Cliff is gone.
Jason is still my favorite. His energy, intelligence and style was perfect. They messed up and he left them. I really hope they'll stop acting like a bitter ex girlfriend.
Man those are Ome cool dudes, loving what they do,and having a blast doing it,that's good stuff
