Idk if you will read this bro but you saved me a headache and money. My trunk wouldn’t open with the button or my remote. I was accessing my trunk by folding my backseat to get to things. Turns out it was the fuse that was blown. Got a new one and trunk opens again👍🏽.
Wow! I was dreading having to order a replacement latch from the dealer. I started with the fuse and low and behold that was the problem. Gracias amigo!
When I press my trunk release button I hear a click but it doesn’t open. Do I need to replace the actuator or the fuse? I have a 2009 Chevy Malibu I believe the fuse is located in my trunk which I can’t get to open (stupid design!)
You have a K1 relay, your number 8 and your #16 fuses. If those doesnt work, replace the actuator. You've written this about 8 mo ago so im pretty sure you either gotten it fixed or you just blew the damn car up lol. But im going thru this problem now and i did all of the above and my trunk still doesnt open
@@davidscott7942 it's actually been sitting in my lot for 8 months unfortunately. I'm having someone come look at it soon though, I happened to buy fuses awhile back so I'll go ahead and try that. Thank you!!
@@onceme2u no worries. I literally just fixed my problem. The #16 fuse ( which will have #5 on the fuse itself).....So it turns out i blew a brand new fuse replacing my trunk actuator. I opened the trunk fine but all of a sudden the trunk won't close anymore. Do you think the latch is stuck open and I'll have to replace the latch and not the fuse?
@@JoseGuzm4n hey brother thanks for the answers! I replaced the latch and it closes now but won't open 😅 I'll check the fuses now to see if that's the problem

Hi I’m new here lol. My trunk just randomly opens at times and in order for the trunk to close I have to push in the button on my trunk first. GMC replaces the fuse in November 2020 and it’s back doing the same thing. Do I need a latch? Please help this is frustrating
I replaced it and took out the fuse the car completely turned off , disconnected the battery and connected back now nothing in the front will turn on like the lights from gas , revoluciones speed etc help ! lol
Blows my mind that by the year 2014 or so Chevrolet can't come up with a Trunk latch worth a damn. I'll buy American I said...... back to Toyo / Honda.
Every car has their problems lol. I'm a automotive technician. There's isn't a car or truck out there that doesn't have something that breaks. In fact, my mom's 2003 Honda Accord, has had 3 interior door handles replaced because they keep breaking.
I bought the new piece on Ebay for only $16 and I have a 2014 Malibu too, Thanks for the instructions.
Thank you so much for this video. I am flat broke a women of 52 years of age and after watching your video I did it!!!!!! Thank you thank you
Im happy my video was helpful to you.
Thanks for video!!!👍👍
FYI trunk still works fine after 4 years

@@JoseGuzm4n dang i just realized it keeps blowing out the fuse every time i use my remote or button for the trunk. Any ideas why?
Bad trunk actuator need to replace. Mine did the same . As soon as you use it it blows

You rock bro, I literally just replaced my my fuse before going the other route. That was it.

Was this done because the trunk wouldn't open or (in my case) the trunk won't stay closed?
Yes on both the
Update: Hey thanks man...I just fixed it. Worked like a charm!
My trunk won't close. So do you think it's the latch not the fuse? Or should i still replace the fuse anyways just in case?
Yvette Diaz check if the fuse is blown. If not then replace the latch.
I got a trunk latch for $30 off amazon for my Chevy Malibu. My fuse was fine but car places wanted $100 or over for this part.

Same issue I had fuse pops so I suggest to change latch mine has been fine since then.
You can replace fuse to get it to close but eventually it will go out again
@@JoseGuzm4n If I change the latch will I still have to change the fuse?

What were the symptoms you were experiencing that led you to replace it? Mine keeps blowing fuses and gets stuck half way during the unlatch movement.
Mine kept blowing the fuse each time i pressed the button

Does th remote to open trunk work on the amazon new part?
Yes
Can you make a video on on to take the rear seat out to get inside the trunk. I can't open my trunk
On the seat there is a lever on each side you press down and they fold down. By the headrest
@@JoseGuzm4n even on a 2012
Got it thanks alot
Hey, I replaced my fuse and it still would not lock in place. Should I just replace the whole latch?
Try and pull the maual lever if not the latch got stuck open. Then just replace.

Yes latch is faulty. Might work periodically but it’s failing already. Once a fuse blows that means the latch is causa short.

do you have to replace the fuse, or just leave it out?
