Hitman 2 - unlocking El Matador safe and easy guide to the "golden Striker pistol" (Delgado Larceny)

This pistol is a reward that ONLY unlocks if you completed 26 (TWENTY-SIX!) escalations on Locations: Hawke's Bay, Miami, Santa Fortuna, Mumbai, Whittleton Creek, Isle of Sgàil, New York and Haven Island.
in short:
(first you need to play "Three-Headed Serpent" in Santa Fortuna, the escalation unlocks alongside the mission)
You need to get Silent Assassin ONLY on this third level
WAIT until you see the on-screen message "unnoticed kill" for the last target BEFORE you exit the level or it may not count towards unlocking the gun EVEN if the rating is Silent Assassin
This video should make it easy for you to get your SILENT ASSASSIN rating for level 3 (you NEED that rating) and by that, to unlock this nice pistol.
Also, you'll manage the first two levels (no Silent Assassin needed for level 1 and 2) of this escalation, too, by watching this video because it's essentially the same, only less stuff to do and therefore easier ;)
Don't forget to get the speed boat key, see 6:50 which was perhaps a bit quick to realise what I did.
You need to get Silent Assassin on this third level of The Delgado Larceny escalation in order to unlock the gun which is why I didn't play it like on steroids. To me it's about playing it as safely as possible, not getting caught and not having to worry about those 80 seconds by wasting time luring the target or getting caught in the process.
However.. I made a funny and silly little mistake by not picking up Bañuelos's gun, actually I didn't expect anyone to find it. I was happy that I found a safe way to hide after the loud shot (guards are damn fast getting there and spotting you.. so hide in the tunnel to avoid that) and then.. edit: I should have either picked up the gun on my way to the tunnel or should have continued to run towards the helicopter. I really didn't expect the guard who picked it up to take it JUST towards my nice hiding location and I was getting slightly nervous there. Don't do that, don't forget to pick it up, saves you both time and nerves. :)
What tends to go wrong is luring the second guard into the room at the start. It may happen only IF you take out that second guard without dropping a pistol in front of the radio (I found that out later) For some reason he tends to see your unconscious target on the ground around the door but if you drop (or leave) the gun from the first guy on the floor in front of the radio, he instantly sees it and goes to investigate. That is better than just the music and he'll likely ignore the rest once he's focussed on that pistol. But you won't lose much time restarting if it goes wrong. I took him out because he's an enforcer and potentially screws up your attempt.
The rest is absolutely fool-proof :) By the way, just to be safe, I tucked away the explosive, away from the wall where the safe is, because depending on your timing, sometimes people are right on the other side of the bathroom wall and I didn't want to blow them up through the wall by pure chance.

--- *Lamb Sauce* pointed out that you need to _complete 26 escalations_ on certain maps to get the gun. --- Don't forget to read the vid description for help :) Sometimes the game bugs out if you leave the area "too early." Note how I wait at the end of my vid at 10:30 how I wait for the "unnoticed kill" message to show up and only then hit the exit. If you don't see that message and exit, you might get a Silent Assassin rating but only four stars or, here in particular, miss out on the reward. If you did it right and still didn't get the gun, then it's got to be a bug and then it's something you should ask Support for help.

@@zanemartin-music I wish I knew. I don't even know whether or not it is (still) true as I completed my game a long time ago. I suggest you just keep going with this vid here and if you get SA on the last map but not the gun, then start googling.

Way to think outside the box! I've been trying the linear approach and running out of time. This is a much smarter method.
Thank you, Sean :) Most guides aren't as easy as they claim to be. "This is easy, you JUST..." yeah, yeah, and then you try it. You run out of time, get caught, have got to restart several times.. I try to get stuff done without having to worry. And that's usually a lot slower than other people ;)

When I did this one, knocking out the target by the river alerted the guards by the backyard. I had to lure him further into the tunnel first.
yep, happened to me more than once.. the "alert" mechanics in this game sometimes work in an.. unexpected.. way.
3 years later and I can confirm that this method STILL works. If it says that you haven’t unlocked this beauty of a gun and you still need to complete 26 challenges or whatnot, wait 3 days. On the 3rd day just waste time whilst on hitman and after like 2-3 hours on hitman, just quit the level you’re currently on (or finish it if you’re a chad) and the notification saying you’ve got the gun should pop up. Happy hunting, agents.

If you blend in, in the starting room you can sneak up behind both guards
sounds interesting, only I don't know how to "blend in" with a crowd of one guy (you're alone in the starting room and only one guard comes in if you lure him in) who on top isn't just loitering but busy checking out the distraction. For me, "blending in" means that you need a crowd of random NPCs like all those people in Miami so you can prevent enforcers from recognising you in a crowd. So, how do you do it here, then?

lol :) I believe it's only there during that escalation. I haven't seen it there on any difficulty level during the normal story mission.

Pretty good one. But I just couldn't resist myself to boom that 2nd target when he's on foot 😅
So I just throwed a thing on balcony to let him go outside the office then placed a gun and the package. The package I placed on the left side from the gun near the wall. So when he went back to pick up the gun he noticed I just detonated the bomb and his body knocked out to the bathroom door where I waited for his fall and quickly grabbed him inside the bathroom. The guards are investigating only the office and do not entering the bathroom so I waited for them leaving the office and went to the final target the same way you did on your vid.

I did silent for all 3 and i never got my gun

If you didn't get the pistol it's because you have to complete the last stage with silent assassination rating it isn't that hard with a bit of practice
there are people who got SA yet still no gun. your comment convinced me to sticky a comment that addresses the issue.

Pretty late but an easy way to get the Safe Code is to give Héctor his Letter which you get either way
Thank you for your comment. I was aware of that (from a regular game mission) but finding the code out there was unique to this escalation so I made use of that. :)

@@ShyGuy3101 haha, nice and you're welcome :) thank you for your comments and I'm glad you got that gun. Back in the day when this escalation was new it was frustrating. Other channels did all kinds of things but I didn't like it. Time to come up with something that actually works AND makes getting the gun significantly easier. The whole thing is still tedious but at least that time factor is gone. Apparently many people felt the same and turned my vid into my most popular upload. I am still amazed at how many people are still watching this (apparently HM2 isn't dead yet) and I'm always happy to see nice comments. There. Big comment, all for you. :D Take care man :)

I still don’t get how to get el-matador. Show the entire gameplay before getting el-mad then show when it happens.
I'm sorry that you haven't got it. This vid does show the gameplay _needed_ (the 1st and 2nd stage are irrelevant) I recommend reading the video description as I have included a ton of tips. If you check the entire comments section, most people got it after reading the descriptions, others had failed because they didn't play Hitman 2 but 3 (this is 2) and stuff like that. I am pretty sure you can get the gun. Virtually everybody else from the comments section got it.

pretty sure you cant get this through hitman 3 or just cant get it anymore at all. I waited after the final kill, I got the silent assassin and I followed the guide step by step. just a heads up incase anyone's trying and cant get it.

In my version there is a maid in the bedroom which spots me if I go for the boat key. Why not in yours? Do I have to wait for her to leave? Does she even leave?
it's like most things a matter of timing. she's there, too, but they're moving around. Look at how close to the wall I stick to stay out of sight. 6:48
As soon as I did the explosion, I lost silent assassin. WTF
it can't be the explosion by itself, there must have been something else. Like, someone saw you or you killed a non-target. Sometimes people hear you and go investigate but it takes them some time to get there so maybe you were just unlucky and blew someone up who was close to the bomb. In my video you can see how I move both the target and the bomb into the outer corner of the bathroom just so I wouldn't blow anyone up.. Just try again.:)

What is the criteria you have to meet to get silent Assassin ?
Only kill target(s) which also means that non-targets killed in accidents will ruin the rating
Never get spotted (no witnesses)
Don't get caught on camera OR destroy the recordings before you finish the mission
No bodies found unless your target(s) died in an accident or with poison

Edit: I figured out what happened. I left the level too early (before the "unnoticed kill" notification popped up).
For some strange reason, I did everything exactly like you did, but got a Body Found.
I detonated the Parcel, immediately exited the level and still got a body found.
A bug possibly?
maybe, maybe not.. hard to tell. MAYBE it has got to do with your "immediately" exiting. The most secure way to get a proper Silent Assassin rating is to wait until you see the message "unnoticed kill" which I did. There were many cases that players exited "too early" and thus preventing the Silent Assassin rating. But "body found" is usually indeed a body found. Maybe you triggered some mercs to run around differently and coming across a body.. sometimes the housemaid or someone else is near the bathroom and for reasons unknown walks in and sees the body. A bug that drives me crazy is when the AI notices that something is wrong across half the map, you can even see their question mark from miles away. Or, see their question mark when they're coming towards where you caused whatever noise, even with a suppressed pistol like the Krugermeier, and they come investigating from two storeys down and half across the building.. Just keep trying and avoid exiting TOO early ;) Good luck man

@@Emerald-X I've never heard that one can unlock that dagger during that escalation. And if you played the escalation as shown in the vid, you will get the gun as a reward. Anyway. For people like you who can't get the gun, I pinned my comment titled "CAN'T GET THE GUN?" which is perhaps something that might interest you.

@@user4708 only the last level is important. One tip that might help: wait for the "unnoticed kill" message to pop up before exiting the level. If you exit too early, you won't achieve a "proper" silent assassin rating that you need to get the gun. Good luck :)

Of all the comments I got for this video, those who didn't manage at first later got it and mentioned what they had done differently or didn't do before. Maybe read through some of the comments here.

Does this gun shoot through walls?
I don't think so, at least not in Hitman 2. The only time I remember shooting through walls was on those sniper maps and I had to equip special wall-piercing rounds (I only had just a few of those) but I hear in Hitman 3 there's at least one gun you can shoot through walls with.

What did I do wrong :(
I don't know what you did but generally speaking, you need to follow the escalation's rules (like, electrocute target 1, not shoot him) so I recommend that, at the end of the mission, you check every single complication (make sure ALL checkboxes are ticked off) and also, the rules for achieving Silent Assassin have to be met. I suspect that you missed out on one complication.

But how do you start out with restricted weapons? You can't smuggle any nor stash it somewhere
But I will tell you what I did
I turned of the music, grabbed the hammer and sat back down.
I waited for the torture (injured) guy to come in.
As the doors closed I got up and silently attacked him and hid him behind the desk and turned on the music and took his outfit.
I went to the mail room and silently took out the mailer and guard and collected the bomb package.
I went to get the safe code and silently taking out the guy in Rico's office by taking him into the bathroom (by throwing the hammer as the bathroom door was still open) and opened the safe for later.
Then I went for the car battery to kill the first guy I knocked out and killed him.
Then i did the same thing that you did with the El matator guy.
Then I went back into Rico's office (btw I did put the bomb package with the guy in the bathroom) and retrieved the El matator.
I shot the target and hid his body.
Instead of using the boat I went for the cocoa fields helicopter and detonated the bomb and left.
I did it in 7 minutes and was raised suspicion once
@@aidenshuart9533 the "restricted weapons" is something you can't do wrong as it simply means that you can't bring anything. You cannot even do anything about it, so that's not a problem :) Make sure you kill the right target with the right weapon and that no non-targets get killed. What you should do is at the end, check your detailed score. It should show 20,000 points each unless you failed something, like failing "never spotted" would result in 0. The first entry is what you want to check, the "objectives complete" entry. I suspect that you either didn't score 20,000 there or that you blew up a non-target along with your target in that bathroom.. it can happen if someone else, like the room maid, is too close to the explosion. I hope that you get it sorted out, mate :)
Art Blade but it never said non-target killed when I blew up the bathroom, in fact the only non-target kill penalty is when I played the first level of escalation, that one guy who *accidentally came into the room because I forgot to turn on the radio* because I used a screwdriver to attack him

I'm totally with you. This game is supposed to be fun and entertaining. Which it is, so long as you don't give a flying fart about challenges, escalations, elusive targets and the likes. Unfortunately, all of those things are locking away rewards that you may want. Realistically though, you will only need very few of them. This gun here for instance you may want but definitely won't need. A game based on stealth just doesn't make sense if you use one of the loudest guns there are available. Just focus on what you need and you'll be fine :)

@@nrog6465 You're welcome, and thank you, too :) Don't let the game get the better of you. I actually quit playing after Hitman 2 because Hitman 3 is just the same nonsense and I'm tired of it. It would be cool if it didn't have all those nonsensical things forcing you to do stuff you'd never do on your own if you played it "your way." And the story, the missions, of HM3.. they should have stopped with HM2. Anyway, enjoy the new gun and the game :)

@@ArtBlade also, if you don't mind me asking do you need the classic challenges on the hitman 1 levels to get the all black suit? I've gotten all classic challenges on more than half the hitman 2 levels, but i heard you need the original level classic challenges too.
I did it SA and I got no gun
sometimes the game bugs out if you leave the area "too early." Note how I wait at the end of my vid at 10:30 how I wait for the "unnoticed kill" message to show up and only then hit the exit. If you don't see that message and exit, you might get a Silent Assassin rating but only four stars or, here in particular, miss out on the reward. If you did it right and still didn't get the gun, then it's got to be a bug and then it's something you should ask Support for help.

I'm sorry to hear that mate :( However, you shouldn't blame yourself if you can't get it right away. I think this is a hell of a challenge and it certainly isn't designed to be accomplished in one go. The best way to tackle it is to do it segmented. Like, try to get out of the room first. Restart, try to get the guy you need to shoot later. Restart. Keep practising by adding more and more steps, by getting more and more done, so you know your path until there by heart, and add more and more until you got it done and over with. If you tackle it like that, it will be less and less likely that you run into unwanted surprises. Just don't give up just yet :)

So you punish me for what the devs did? I find that unfair because your anger doesn't reach them. Only me.
