Thanks for this video. My door threshold going from the back of the garage to outside separated from the jamb and water comes in to the garage. It's on a concrete ledge and will rig it with adhesive caulk for now but the door will have to be replaced and a sill pan installed. Much harder to do with siding already on the house. There was no sill pan there and probably no flashing tape either.
Im installing a therma tru door right now. With the fact that therma tru doors send us doors with staples going through the header and weatherstripping. Im not surprised that the mortises dont line up from the factory
Max checks the door for plumb while John checks his notes for jokes... no jokes. LOL!!! I love it! Use an actual drill instead of making noises with your mouth... LOL! Got it. This guarantees that when I'm doing an install my brother will be making noises with his mouth now. The temporary screwing thing along with shims was a great idea. I also liked how he talked about putting the screws in the thicker part of the door. That is helpful advice. I'm preparing to install an exterior door so I'm looking for useful tips. My main issue is the floor is a mess & the sill is lower than the subfloor somehow (someone cut downward to install a taller door than had been there previously-- instead of installing the same height door or raising the header).
Yes you should. The shims should be tight. Very tight. Best way to install any door or window, is to use plastic shims bud. It’s preference but you can actually hammer those shims in so they don’t move.
Can anyone think outside the box and find a way to add a keyless smart lock (dead bolt) to my Therma-tru multi point locking system (even if it is not very "conventional")? I just cannot stand the thought of carrying a key around with me! When I bought a "Therma-tru floor display model for $200 I had no idea what I was getting myself into with the locking system.

I love the narrator's dry humour.
No jokes 😂

Glad you like the jokes. It is how I keep amused during the long winters editing video.
So how do we cover the hideous screw heads drilling through the jams. Especially on a door set with a a factory finish?
I mean, is this question a snarky retort meant to prove how dumb the guys in the video are, or do you seriously not know how to fill a hole?
When they say "sealant" does that just mean caulk or does it need to be another product?
Yeah, sealant as in caulking. They are using OSI Quad Max. Great stuff.
Loved your video! Where can we buy Therma-Tru Plastic Door Pans for single and double doors for 6-11/16 openings?
Any where you can buy Therma-Tru doors can order the sill pans.
@@LiLGhettoSmurfOG except for 2x8 doors, they don't exist lol.
How do you intake the rainguard strip?
?
Anyone have an opinion on this concept: should the exterior kickplate / facade material be installed even before the sill pan ?
Do you screw through the shims or not?

I'm sure someone can.
Great video! Thank you
Yay. Thanks!!
You forgot to put silicone around the back of the door…..
They laid three beads under the pan flashing at about 00:58
Check out my recently installed Therma-True door on my channel!
I do service on many of your units... 🤔
Since you seem to know these doors, can they be cut down?
I hate Wood shims with a passion.
lol way to much work to set a pre-hung door
LOL. Joke is on your customers!
