That's a good point. I didn't even connect those two things. Shes probably okay with it because it directly benefits her and has no consequences on her life.
I agree with a queen size bed after a crib. We got one for our son and it worked out so well. We lived in a 2 bedroom apartment so when family would come to visit they could use that bed. He used it til college and then when he got married he and his wife used it to stay out of debt for bedroom furniture until they had the money and space to upgrade.
This show is so much more about personal ethics and personal integrity as pertains to money/greed than saving hacks. It’s actually eye opening but also makes me think about my own as to what i can justify my actions regarding saving money.
The problem with the pay-it-forward chain, is that once you pay out of obligation to the "chain", it has pretty much lost all the virtue in it. I just pay it forward when I want to do something nice for someone else. The whole point is to make the order free for the person in back of you. Not to rope them into feeling guilty.
I agree. Accept the gift joyfully, then do something nice for someone else at another time. The chain thing is just a bunch of people refusing a gift IMO.
I'll just bet that most servers DON'T report all their tips. Their hourly wage is unbelievably low. Here in VA it's app. $3 per hr. Also, most don't get any perks such as paid vacation, sick leave. medical insurance, etc. I don't blame them for not reporting all tips. LOVE ❤️ your show!!!
Not every restaurant!. And they should. They don't get any of the perks those of us with corporate jobs get.. Insurance 401k options sick leave vacation. If they miss work for any reason they don't get paid!. And the restaurant doesn't ask them what they made in tips.. they aren't lying they are never asked. If the restaurant asks them and it turns out they didn't make minimum wage that day then they must be paid the difference by the restaurant. So the restaurant manager will just log the tips up to minimum wage so they don't have to make up the difference. People should not have to rely on tips to be paid. And we as people should not bare the responsibility of paying their wages. They should be paid a fair wage.
@@crystalclick1182 right so what happens if the servers get regular hourly wage? 1. There pay will actually decrease 2. Our food costs will increase 3. The government takes even more from them in taxes It’s a good job 16 year olds can do it easily all it requires is social skills and memory. Unless you are at a fine dining restaurant it simply is not a solid career path. It is an unskilled job where you can make double the typical hourly restaurant wage.
I was watching the previous videos here on RUclips. This is so much better with video. Being able to see George & Rachel's expressions is priceless! Especially when Rachel is silently laughing or dying of embarrassment.
I had a cousin who would show up with her husband and kids as my mom had finished making dinner 🍽 & then she would be saying how much she was saving by eating dinner at our house. She did it a few times & as she would be pulling in our driveway my mom would hide our food in the closet. 😮
This episode was truly so thought provoking to me and also just interesting to hear other people’s moral compasses and to consider that we all have different thresholds for right and wrong on some of these gray areas! Love you guys!! And King Charles in a queen bed truly had me laughing out loud❤
I am one hundred percent with Rachel on the queen size bed for her kid! I had a queen-sized bed all through my childhood but whenever family came to visit they got my room and I had to sleep on the couch😂 I think it was a good trade🤣
My mother in law hoarded, condiment packets then never used them, some were so bad they were dried out. One year my kids and I collected condiment packages for the whole year and gave her a stocking full of condiment packages for Christmas. Most fun we ever had collecting weird and odd condiment packets. She loved it.
And Rachel saying her Mom would take the leftovers from the office event....well, Sharon Ramsey is the one who paid for them! How did Rachel not connect those dots? The kitchen at Ramsey headquarters is Sharon's kitchen, she can tell anyone she wants to take a meal home from there. Sharon's not "getting food for free" from the Ramsey headquarters. She's the one who bought it!
George! We also bought Queen size beds for our little children. Thinking ahead. Also the small beds are really not that much different in overall price. They can grow into that so much better. Do this if you have kids.
We took my then 5 year old out to eat where kids 4 and under are less expensive. She takes everything very literally and was so upset when the server told us to say she's 4 that we ended up paying the more expensive price for her. I am proud of her honesty though so I didn't mind. I love watching your podcast. I watch the other ramsey personality podcasts too but have to say this one is my favorite. You are truly a good team and fun to watch.
I think a problem with a queen size bed as a child is that that becomes the norm and then sharing one when you have a partner is hard and going to a twin at college is hard. It makes sense if you don't have a guest room and your child's room doubles as a guest room when family comes to stay but otherwise a twin is fine all the way to college.
"You don't need to feel judged; the RUclips comments will do that for us." They did indeed judge Rachel for these answers. Lol Great episode! Probably fave besides the tipping one (but this was better with the video!). Also definitely have taken uneaten food from whoever we have eaten with if it was going to be trashed, since we would always just feed any food to our chickens! More scrap food= less spendy chicken feed! At the very least if chickens don't eat, it gets composted instead of going into the trash. 🤷♀️
Ok here’s a podcast to do! How about an episode with you two talking about all the conspiracy theories you think of. Like Rachel would have SO many I think. It would be HILARIOUS. And, “because I am a videographer, and I think of these things” you could totally tie in money and not worrying about it all in the end. Just an idea for the video department! Keep it going! Great stuff!
Just like most people smuggle snacks into movies, most servers do underreport tips. Kinda hilarious to hear that Dave and Sharon still have a couple of cheapskate habits, too. Which ones Rachel still indulges in is also kinda funny considering how bougie she admits to being in other episodes.

George, Rachel and team this has to be the funniest episode I’ve ever seen 🤣…I’m sharing it, ethical finance. I must admit I wore my brother’s military sweatshirt to a hardware store and got a military discount. When George mentioned the military discount as wrong, I was laughing so hard I started crying 🤣 I corrected the cashier but they gave it to me anyway. 😅

$9.00 for a box of theatre candy vs $1.25 are the dollar store - I'm doing Dollar store all day long. It's not as tho they lost money because if a dollar store wasn't around, I would do without.

I am glad to finally know that the line for taking condiments is that you can't take whole ketchup bottles or salt and pepper shakers. :) The two of you were cracking me up the whole time.
This show is fast becoming my favorite. I'm a senior and I figure IF I don't ask for a senior discount you don't get. Just like being a teacher, fireman, police and getting a break on the price of gas as a thank you. One thing that strike me...is that Rachel must make a TON of money to spend the way she does. This is not "typical income" level in my world we had to live on $40,000 a year. Maybe I am jealous....
In the UK 🇬🇧 we are allowed to take our own food into the cinema, they stopped that rule years ago but didn’t widely publicise it. It’s so expensive I totally take my own food and drinks in!
I feel like that meme: “You guys got a queen size bed growing up?! I only had a full!” For me, I only had a twin growing up…and someone in the comments will add on “You guys got beds?!” 😂
It bugs me when neighbors throw their stuff on dumpsters that I have paid for, and one time I have a neighbor fill it! And we had to pay to get it picked up and refill it. I went and asked for the neighbor to pay for half 😊 I rather have my neighbors throw their pet scat in my trash can than Not picking it up and leaving it on my lawn
I’m with Rachel on the bed for long term savings, if a queen bed is proportional to the room size. I am NOT with Rachel about using guys for free meals. If you don’t even have an inkling of romantic interest for the guy, you’re missing the point of a date and are actively lying to the person you’re going on a date with, therefore using them for food and grossly unethical.
So funny about the size of Charles’ mattress! We upgraded our 2 boys to a a twin-over-full bunk bed because older was growing tall quickly. For a few years we had a childcare swap with another couple: each month one couple would host the other’s children - 5 kids total - for an overnight. At our home, all kids preferred to sleep sideways on the full mattress!
Not mom guilt to buy a queen for your kids! It makes complete sense! And if Charles needs someone to lay by him because he has a bad dream or feels sick, the adult or big sister has a comfortable sleep also! ❤ Great job Rachel!
Rachel I agree with you. My son has a queen size bed since he turned 3. I think it makes sense to buy a bed that big now and not have to buy it again for several years.
A few years ago I bought a little glass-topped side table from a store that now has only an online presence. The clerk went back to the back of the store and brought out a box for me. I paid for it and left. When I got home I discovered that she had given me a boxed pair of tables! Her error, but I returned the spare. She was grateful and relieved. The previous day's numbers didn't work out for her. And I have to live with the woman I see in the mirror every day. To me, keeping the spare would have been stealing. There's a commandment about that!
I think the only classy way to break the chain at the coffee shop is to put the money you would have paid for your order in the tip jar. At least that is the only way I have done it without feeling like garbage about myself. I don't enjoy the forced generosity of it, especially when my drink was 3.50 and the lady behind me his picking up an order for the office and it is over 50 dollars.
I’m with Rachel on the queen mattress 😅 my son got a queen mattress and he’s only 2 years old. I am not buying toddler beds when the queen mattress can last him until he’s in his teens
The suggested donations is when you're going through the drive thru and they ask you if you want to donate today to so and so fountain. Or you're paying for gas inside and they ask if you want to round up to benefit a non profit... or whatever. It's not when you are actually getting something for the donation. I always just say no. If I don't know about the organization I'm donating to, I don't donate. No one should.
On paying it forward, if someone I am with insists on buying my meal and the service is good. I will always leave an extra tip but I’ve never been in the situation of a pay it forward line.
Okay so…when I was 16 or so, I accidentally stole a hairdryer from a hotel. How it happened - my family was staying at a nice hotel in Vegas and my older sister (21) sarcastically told me - totally thinking I got the joke - that anything loose in the bathroom was for us to take home. I’m sure it was some joke that I didn’t hear the first part of…anyway, unpacking at home later, I thanked her for the tip on the blow dryer and showed it to her and her jaw dropped 😂 oops! Apparently I’m a little gullible?
George using a different email to get a benefit that is really for new customers (to build a business) is sketchy and cheap. I could maybe see it if you haven’t used the same coupon. He rationalizes by saying they are getting his business but he knows they want/need new business.
The company I work for is a supplier of concession supplies, including movie theaters. The movie theaters make zero money on new releases for the first couple weeks. 100% of that ticket price goes to the production company. The longer a movie is out the more money they get to keep from ticket sales. Regardless they make the majority of their money from concession sales.
I have had to send back meals that were wrong, and meals that were made wrong. The worst was an open faced, roast beef sandwich, that tasted like someone upended a salt shaker in it. I must have ingested my whole day’s worth of salt in one bite!
Think we need George tech tutorial to set up email forwarding and Google phone number. And eating gluten free on a budget like sample grocery store weekly haul and meal plan. Bonus points if you don't get many substitutes.
I love how Rachel's like "come on people pay for your subscriptions!" 4 min later "I think it's completely morally ok to use a guy for SEVEN free meals"
Funny how Rachel thinks it’s wrong to use other people’s passwords for subscriptions but admits she stole a mid size towel from a hotel 😂
I was thinking the same thing. Ur literally "using" a person to get free food. How it that NOT immoral
That's a good point. I didn't even connect those two things. Shes probably okay with it because it directly benefits her and has no consequences on her life.
I feel like a confident man isn’t bothered by going to a date for a free meal. She’s literally giving the guy a shot.
@@brieashley7227 Based on the scenario described no she is not. She’s going solely to get a free meal and has no intention of giving the guy a shot.

I am glad to finally know that the line for taking condiments is that you can't take whole ketchup bottles or salt and pepper shakers. :) The two of you were cracking me up the whole time.
I love Rachel’s squeaky voice when she gets nervous and surprised 😂😂😂
Lying about a military discount is called stolen Valor and it is horrible
Great content! Super funny...on the New England bedroom and full size bed til graduation
I relate!!
Also, sharing a plate with your spouse at a restaurant? Sketchy or savvy…. There are so many topics to cover 😂
Love love love this episode! I want to see more Savvy or Sketchy! ❤
My kids got Full beds but only because that’s what their convertible cribs would fit. I definitely would have preferred/done a queen
Such a good episode!! Rachel and George together are soo funny.
To get a teacher or military discount, you have to present your work ID badge.
Not always....I worked for an organization that took it on trust. And I've seen restaurants give military discounts without requiring I'd.
@@tiffanymackey2382 I guess they're pickier where I live.
This is the first episode I have seen ... flipping brilliant.
This duo is always the funniest on the ramsey network! All the hosts are great! But george and Rachel are really relatable to the younger crowed
I feel like that meme: “You guys got a queen size bed growing up?! I only had a full!” For me, I only had a twin growing up…and someone in the comments will add on “You guys got beds?!” 😂
This has been my favourite episode so far! LOVE this podcast!
I am actually shocked to see what they think is OK?
I’m with Rachel on the bed for long term savings, if a queen bed is proportional to the room size. I am NOT with Rachel about using guys for free meals. If you don’t even have an inkling of romantic interest for the guy, you’re missing the point of a date and are actively lying to the person you’re going on a date with, therefore using them for food and grossly unethical.
Love your banter 😂. George is hilarious!!!
“You don’t need to feel judged. The RUclips comments will do that for us”-GK 😅😅😅
The real ethical question is - would you SELL the additional item that was sent to you by accident. And yes, yes I would lol
First one I have watched or heard. It was so good! Now I am going to have to go backwards and listen and watch all your past podcasts!
I loved this video!! BTW, You can easily create extra gmails just by adding a period in between characters.
I have done this! It works great and you only have to remember 1 email address 😂
Best podcast ever!! About time to have fun talking about money!! Thank you!
I call the company who accidentally sends me two. Then it's the company's choice.
@@PhyllisBoone-sn8oi I would have returned it also. Bravo
Love love how normal they are they made me feel better on the things I do to save money 😆😆
So far I’ve learned Rachel puts out for a free meal. Ethical and savvy. 😂
I’m with Rachel on the queen mattress 😅 my son got a queen mattress and he’s only 2 years old. I am not buying toddler beds when the queen mattress can last him until he’s in his teens
Your kids sleep in queen-sized mattress?! I was 20 before I upgraded to a FULL mattress.
I’m glad I stopped to watch this video! You guys are awesome and work perfectly well together
SO MUCH FUN!!! I plan on bingeing all episodes over the holiday weekend. Cheers!
I had a queen sized water bed as a toddler! My poor husband slept on a twin until he was a senior in high school. His feet hung off the end.
The same thing happened when I ordered a queen size mattress for our daughter! We gave the extra one to my sister who could really use it.
"this is mom guilt and i rebuke it!" lolllllllllllll
