Well the same applies to you too. You should know that you are a migrant in the land of First Nations.
If you still want to worship the British Royalty and keep them as head of state, then you should go back to Britain. Same is with imposition of foreign culture on Native lands.
Everyone should respect the indigenous people of the land. And this applies to migrants from Europe as well.
Finally just because you claim that your family has lived in Canada since 1670, it doesn't make you Native of Canada. You will always be a descendant of a migrant in a foreign country.

@@srinivasaniyer6219 - Mr. Iyer- Don't forget that Punjabi Sikhs are only 1% of the Indian population. The vast majority of Sikhs are based in rural areas. Are you trying to compare one billion Hindus with the tiny minority of Sikhs? Millions and millions of Hindus across India are based in urban cities and towns, so naturally, they have better access to education.
For a fair comparison, try to compare the rural people from other states with Punjab. Try to compare the achievements of rural people from U.P, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal, Bengal, etc. Remember, if there are only 1% Sikh people per 100 in the knowledge industry, then that is the fair share. I can guarantee you that the percentage of Sikhs in the knowledge industry is more than 1 %.

The guy who was concerned about the high fees that international students pay in Canada really shows the guy doesn’t have much knowledge about the education system. In India, I studied from Thapar University, Patiala, and I paid around 16 lakhs for my degree whereas people who came from dubai, saudi arabia to study in my paid close to 50 lakhs. So its same everywhere. In Punjab Agricultural University where my mom works over there as well, African, Afghanistan and other countries students also pay 3x fees as compared to Indian students.

They have given Indians a bad name on a international platform. Also, there are better ways to raise concerns of rising fees for each semester and dip in education quality. Respecting and following the Canadian way of living is the only way Indian can get back some of the respect that we have lost in recent times. When people fly out of Indian airport its important to leave behind certain chunk of bad Indian qualities which we consider are normal and part of our core skills and also we as a community need to be open to accept criticism and change because I am 100% sure if someone in India protests from a foreign country we would throw them out without any hesitation. Behave well
    Be polite
    Follow rules
    Stope being selfish
    Respect others privacy and space
    Don’t litter
    Be hygienic
And finally remember you have come to other country which has developed its own culture so as much as possible try to assimilate in that culture.
Yesterday I saw a girl parked her car in front of the supermarket door because she didn’t want to take her cart to parking lot and cause trouble to others, this kind of selfish behaviour is distasteful. Stop cutting corners, taking short cuts and cheating the system.

I went to high school in Brampton in the early 80's and there were no people from India anywhere... it was very much a white anglo town, and then I moved to Montreal for 25 years to work as a fashion designer. (I remember the shock of flying into Toronto on business and walking outside to get a taxi... there was an endless line of Indian guys wearing Turbans, waiting by their taxis. It was a very strange feeling, as I was not sure if I was in Canada or India.) About 10 years ago, I moved back to Ontario to live in Guelph and had heard the joke about Brampton becoming 'Bramladesh' by people at the dog park, and in the past 5 years, (since they built the massive temple in Guelph) the place has turned into a mini India, as EVERY house put up for sale, is bought by a family from India, with 4 or 5 cars in a 2 car driveway, (strangely, as soon as they move into the house, they all rip out the asphalt driveway and replace it with white concrete??) they seem to be a tribal people and every house is filled to capacity, as the husband and wife are with their kids, the brother and his wife and their parents, all living together. (They are friendly people and they don't cause any trouble... my only issue is the intense stench of spices from their house that fill the air 24/7 to the point that you cannot sit in the back yard or open a window, without being punched in the face from the powerful odour of spices!)

I didn't land in America and start demanding rights when i WAS NOT a citizen of the country! I knew i was a GUEST. I did not go to the states with the intention of working. I only worked for pocket money because i had already toiled and planned my funds well in advance for 5 years. The bad odour is something easily avoidable. Usually Indians bath everyday some times twice a day. There’s two things we can educate our fellow Indians on:
    1. Apply professional grade deodorant, you can get this at any store for 3-10$ depending on brand. Please apply 5-6 strokes in each underarm immediately after shower. Unfortunately even if we shower daily after an hour or so our armpits start getting sweaty due to our genes so please follow this advice.
    2. I understand many people live in student rentals where you cannot use washer dryer everyday, in these situations when you want to wear same clothes more than once without the smell of sweat best thing to do is wearing deodorant and not cooking on the clothes you intend to wear second time will keep your clothes smell free.
When you don’t have time to bath everyday due to busy schedule quick tip is in the bathroom sink take handwashing and wash armpits by bending over ( wipe off all the water around the sink so that other people living with you are comfortable) immediately apply deodorant.
If you are worried about chemicals in deodorants, they have many chemical free deodorants like attitude, dove aluminum free, secret aluminum free act and if you are still worried about spending that money get it from back home in India there is a brand called chemist at play which is just 200/- and use that. please please our country is getting bad name, please use it for good hygiene.

All your words are true to the core. Had the government promised something too, even then they have every right to protect the interests of their countrymen and make whatever laws they deem suitable. Back in 2009, the Canadian government made laws to stop processing of PR cases filled with them just to clear out the huge backlog of the PR applications. Whereas when accepting such applications they promised that the applications will be processed according to the laws in force at the time the application is received by the 🇨🇦 Government.
THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT. IT’S THEIR WISH. Its THEIR COUNTRY. If someone doesn’t like their attitude, just stay away. It’s simple.

But at the same time students knew how much it cost to study in Canada before coming here. Still, they came to Canada. They shouldn't blame Canadian systems. It may not be perfect for students. Studying abroad in Canada is not student's constitutional rights! It's a export business for those countries. So, how would you survive during the study, is not the question to ask. This is absolutely absurd!
It's the student's responsibility to cover up all expenses of the study, without having anything earned from their soil. If they allow you to work while study is just the privilege, not the national right for visitors!
Sooner, we learn this facts, better it is for our wellbeing. Once, you acquired the citizenship with all due legal process, then fight for those rights.

I fully agree with you Gursahib Singh ji on how International students should behave especially Indians! I have been in Canada over 50+ years and came from India. I used to visit Toronto in the early seventies and now when I go there it has become just opposite meaning white Canadians are hard to see whereas visible minority Canadians are everywhere. In fact in some of the Malls you would feel as if you are walking in India or Afghanistan!
One of the huge problems in Canada is the current Canadian government and the Canadian universities/colleges! The federal govt. has reduced universities and colleges funding from 83% to 50% over the last decade. To make up for the lost funding, universities and colleges are issuing admission letters by the thousands without any regard to where these international students would stay and find part-time jobs! The federal government of Liberals + NDP look at these students as future vote banks and truly destroying the Canada we knew few years ago. There is a lot of blame to go out on all sides i.e. current Canadian federal government, Canadian universities and colleges, Indian agents hyping and acting on behalf of these Canadian colleges and universities to continue to attract more and more Indian students to go to Canada, and lastly the lack of reality check on the part of Indian students and their parents and not to think about where the funds will come from if there are no part-time job available in Canada to complete the degree or diploma program! Additionally, like all other countries, Canada has gotten way too expensive after COVID. Recent report from USA census bureau indicated that more than 126,000 Canadians moved to USA because of the cost of living! Jai Bharat!

People who applying immigration here having masters degrees and work experience and money but still waiting years to come here. Yesterday's news the most top of the list people who cross BC to Washington US illegally are Indians and most probably Punjabis. Reduce your population simple.

This is mostly happening in village areas where agriculture is getting ruined in Punjab because of excessive sowing of rice and wheat which is gradually ruining our Punjab soil for agriculture. The combination of both Unconstitutional diversion of punjab's water and the green revolution has been costing us this situation for decades. Thats why in 1973 anandpur resolution was made in order to stop the unconstitutional diversion of punjab water and getting our political right of federal structure in punjab. And when the struggle was started in order to get these demands indian state made us terrorist and did genocide for 1 decade you know these well (1984 to 1995). Then the Indian state unleashed a huge wave of drugs in punjab. Then from 1997 to 2014 lakhs of youth got killed from drugs in punjab which was even larger than massacred youth by punjab police during 1980s and 1990s. Here the youth was being killed because of drugs and on the other side the agricultural situation of Punjab was getting worse thats why parents of punjabi youth started motivating their kids to go abroad for their better future from their childhood. This made punjabi youth subconsciously made to think there is no future in Punjab and going abroad is everything. And eventually it became a trend in punjab for youth to move out to abroad. And further reasons can be there is no industrialization, no stable and punjab oriented government only puppets of delhi become cm in punjab, No sense of justice in punjab's authority for sikhs, No sense of healing touch for sikhs in punjab for what actually happened in punjab with sikhs in 1980s and 1990s. Thats why particularly sikh population has started hating indian state and wants to leave india for better future.

I 100% agree with your point about losing the 'Canadian Culture'. I came to Canada 12 years ago. Life was very different then. People were polite, humble and friendly. Rules were strictly followed. Today the new folks I see refuse to assimilate into the local Canadian culture and primarily live in their own 'local desi' group. Students showing scant regard for rules, cutting queues, staring at local women, standing on walkways in large groups, blocking the way for others, and disregarding traffic rules are just the tip of the iceberg.
Demanding parity with locals is just plain hypocrisy. I mean, look at how they treat people from their neighbourhood in their own country and the kind of names they call them. The audacity to demand parity is pure entitlement. I don't know who is coaching them with all these ideas. And if they think education is expensive in Canada, they should take their business elsewhere. Why come to Canada?
I'm saying this as a person of Indian origin myself.

I'm also a Brown Indian also and in my case born and raised here in Canada. The White Race is getting tired of seeing our racial kin here engaging in those negative behaviours and I predict within just a decade or so there will be race riots especially in the Greater Toronto Area against us if this continues.

Very well brought about by Gursahib. Problems of students are genuine but the way they are put across is not helping anyone. The need of the hour is to create awareness, empathy and genuine concern for them. Students must think properly before saying anything. They should have better spokesperson to put across their issues in such a way that even Canadians should accept their reality. Just getting frustrated and showing anger is not the right approach.
