Like others in this thread, this video "saved my life". I'm not a coder or even a web designer but I've put together websites and so became a stand-in for a pro when the latter argued with the client. All went well until they wanted a drop down to separate spring line and sale. This was the only reference I found that addressed this issue soundly, and it worked, and the clients love me. I subscribed. Thanks so much!

I have watches so many videos looking for this. This was so clean and helpful! thank you. One last thing I need to solve is being able to filter using more than one category or subcategories? for example looking at all the gold jewelry but only necklaces and pendants
Oh thank you David, again you are a life saver! I was so lost in how to organize and start adding products to my shop and this video has helped immensely. I was thinking about it all wrong in the beginning, so after I watched this video, I deleted what I had so far and started over...didn't take me long after that!
I was able to figure out, that by adding a "page layout" Page, then adding the links to each button helped with organizing the shop page even further. I have a wide variety of products so this was a cool tool to redirect shoppers to a specific category.
Another helpful video, thank you David! I don’t have any of these additions to my site currently but saving on my playlist for later when I add a blog!

Thank you! This was so helpful! I was wondering, if you would know how to organize this navigation folder further and add sub- and even sub-sub categories? :)
Very helpful, I managed this fine but am not sure how to get my products on the right pages. My products are generally print imported from The Print Space and Gelato. They arrive in the store fine but then I'm struggling trying to get copies into the various areas.
Great video and thanks putting out Great Content! Question for you though - When setting up the “Shop” navigation links, how do I turn off (not link) the actual “Shop” folder? Because if everything else is linked to a category what is suppose to be on the “Shop” page? Hopefully that makes sense and thank you again for the great Channel!
Hi Justin! Great question but I'm a little confused on what you mean - maybe this will help! if it's int he not linked section, you don't have to worry about it :) lmk!
@@meetdavidalex My apologies, I’m trying to think of how to better explain… I guess my main issue/confusion, is that I don’t understand why a Nav. Menu Configure Folder has the option/requirement for a URL slug - Especially if the URL doesn’t lead the user anywhere. Hopefully that makes more sense 🤞🏻
How do I make subcategories though? I have at the top- hats, shoes, pants. Then under shoes I have categories of- jordans nikes and converse. How do I get another subcategory for converse that says- hi tops and low tops?
Do you have a video on. Why my Domain I linked and set as my primary and my website/store etc ( even not public yet) is still their Animal-names-Style Domain?? If you have talked about this can you help LINK me to your Vid or can you make one on it ??
Hover over your event (in the left column menu) and click the 3 dots. Once you click it, click *Settings* >>> then click *OPTIONS* >>> Then click *CATEGORIES* and you can make the categories. Then, you can filter events by a specific category... the url is typically /events?category=Holidays (as Holidays is replaced with the name of the category)
Sorry, I'm completely out of my depth. I was able to set up the categories, but I don't know how to link the individual items to them. Right now, all the items are on one list in the store. How do I sequester them in the categories I created links for? (Told you I'm out of my depth...). TIA.
0:42 the thing that makes squarespace silly is that there is no filter option which you have with all online shops, you have to pay £70 for the feature!
I’m using 7.0 Brine, should I just switch to a 7.1 template? This is my issue- The options and font aren’t the same and there isn’t a categories dropdown in the main Store settings, it is in Advanced and it states I need to add my categories after clicking into each product page under Organization. After the categories created, and I click on my store, no dropdown has ever appeared for me or anywhere to view the categories. I created a second store, published a product(in test mode)and it’s the same.
Can this work with multiple stores on a website? I need to cross-pollinate products across the two stores, but need to keep the navigation as separate items
is there a way to create sub-categories? I want to put all my categories on my navigation and then have the sub categories under it (ie. Category on Navigation is 'Accessories' and the sub categories under it would be "pillows, candles, baskets, pots, etc.")
How do you edit the style of the categories for "pants" Accessories" and how it displays either Center or align-leftt? Also, i'm trying to edit the style and position of the Breadcrumb text for the categories and I can't seem to find where it happens?
Hey Clayton! Your best bet might be custom code. I'd have to see exactly what you are trying to do but do a few google searches and see what you can come up!
It’s a setting in the editor on your blog page. This video may show you - I don’t specifically remember where I mention it. Squarespace How to Create A Blog [Ultimate Step-by-Step Guide] ruclips.net/video/-LRvhgP5AXo/видео.html
Im trying to follow your categories but my squarespace 7.0 doesnt look like yours. There aren't any three dots and when I clieck my store the store home page comes up but nothing else
I look for a solution to categorize people of a community that I manage, but I can't use any of store, blog, video, or events for that. I need my site visitors be able to see the people in alphabetic categories and still I couldn't find anything out there. appreciate if someone has a tip for me.
Where is your community hosted? In Squarespace? Where is the list? You can probably use a tool like airtable but it matters where your community is hosted!

Good content Subscribed. Manage items at 9:14 is not showing up . Do I have old version of Squarespace?
Maybe! How old is your site? More than 3 years? Than possibly !! :)
Is there any way to categories printify products?
How do I make subcategories though? I have at the top- hats, shoes, pants. Then under shoes I have categories of- jordans nikes and converse. How do I get another subcategory for converse that says- hi tops and low tops?
Hi, can I add category in a template Modern Organic Thai? Im trying to organize my product. Is adding category is limited?
Do you have a video on. Why my Domain I linked and set as my primary and my website/store etc ( even not public yet) is still their Animal-names-Style Domain?? If you have talked about this can you help LINK me to your Vid or can you make one on it ??
I'm trying to do the link. There is no folder on my dashboard, and no gear wheel. Darn.
Do you use this same mention for creating categories for other stuff outside of a blog or a shop
Yep!
Hi David, How do you do this for events? I couldn't find the option for it.

Hmmm. Weird. You may need to message Squarespace support ! It could be the tiniest thing.
This is the same for me, did you manage to get a solution?
Can this work with multiple stores on a website? I need to cross-pollinate products across the two stores, but need to keep the navigation as separate items
This can but it's (basically) impossible to show products from 2 stores in 1 feed. Everything else is doable, :)
is there a way to create sub-categories? I want to put all my categories on my navigation and then have the sub categories under it (ie. Category on Navigation is 'Accessories' and the sub categories under it would be "pillows, candles, baskets, pots, etc.")
As of right now, I think you can only have sub categories for a store!
How do you keep the categories section on each category page? That part is not working for me.
It’s a setting in the editor on your blog page. This video may show you - I don’t specifically remember where I mention it. Squarespace How to Create A Blog [Ultimate Step-by-Step Guide]

Im trying to follow your categories but my squarespace 7.0 doesnt look like yours. There aren't any three dots and when I clieck my store the store home page comes up but nothing else
Yeah, it may be very different! Google it and you should find it! :)
Is this content still current? My version of Squarespace 7.1 displays the settings inside a blog and store differently.
They have moved things around a bit! Try clicking '/' (forward slash) to see search your entire site! :)
I look for a solution to categorize people of a community that I manage, but I can't use any of store, blog, video, or events for that. I need my site visitors be able to see the people in alphabetic categories and still I couldn't find anything out there. appreciate if someone has a tip for me.

@@meetdavidalex hey David, the community is a group of residents for a radio station, and the web is hosted by Squarespace Business plan.
