This show is one of my favorites as well, but it does have quite a few things wrong with it, not to mention that it probably won't appeal to the non-psychological crowd
Yukki is whining for most of the show and turns into an asshole after that. Many are thrown off by the whole yandere thing and how people actually like Yuno. Yuno is a psychopath who should not be someone's love interest. The show also doesn't handle the whole survival game as well as it could have. Every single contestant (except Yuno) is either after Yukki or gets into a position where Yukki is their enemy. There are many more things but these are the ones that pop up in my head. I personally really like the show, but these are some flaws I found with it that may very well throw someone off this anime.

As far as I've understood, (spoilers) After Yuno and Yukki from the first world tried to both suicide at the same time, so no one won the game, Yuno didn't die, making her a god. She gave the powers to Murmur from the first world, then created the second world, killing Yuno from the second world, replacing her. Murmur from the first world took place as the Murmur from the second world. What Deus didn't know was that Murmur was actually a god from the first world. Deus gave half of his power to Minene, but Murmur was still stronger than Minene, thus beating her. :3

If I were in one room with him with the knowledge of his personality, I'd kill him. He's just a kid after all. The only reason he lived as long as he did was because of his traps. If Yukki and Yuno knew from the start what he was up to, he would've died before he had the chance to do anything. Of course, if he knew of your knowledge of his plans, he'd stay in the shadows.
