    People who didn't begin with Gwen in the 90's, go to the workshops and read the books and do the program can't know how Gwen's deception progressed. I followed Gwen for over 25 years, not as a cult member but agreeing that food idolatry is a real thing. Anytime you look to the creation for help and not the Creator for His solution, you are looking for help you'll never find. Only the Holy Spirit can manifest self control in a believer's life. We have no righteousness apart from Jesus Christ. Gwen began losing weight for herself. She got followers because people want to worship and follow people. They want some "formula" for success outside of self control. I believe as people elevated Gwen to "fame" and as they elevated her, she got sideways and Satan started to twist what began as a truth. Gwen did what she did by choice but unless you were a part of this whole weigh down journey, you can't sit outside and judge her correctly.

      So unless a person becomes a pedophile, they can't judge pedophiles? Basically what you're saying. She can be judged against Scriptures and by her fruit: Divorce, murder, eating disorders, greed, lies, hair spray addiction.....

      I think he is just saying you can not fully understand her path without understanding the weight loss journey. He is saying that she went down the wrong path and people raised her to heights because people want to follow and want rules. They want a program to fix them and that is what Jesus taught. That is why we build religions rather than follow God, as the wind blows from the east to the west and so it is with the people of the spirit of God. Not saying what you said was wrong in any way. I totally agree with you. @@pinkystores9451

      This is a fair and true comment. I live overseas and have never even attended anything by her, but I do have the book Weigh Down. I think Gwen was an amazing person, she was inspiring, she was funny, she was honest and tough-: something we need more of in the world today. I am saddened it ended like this for her, and feel this snarky pack of vultures on stage are repulsive.
      Yet, there's no getting around the path Gwen went on, I think she was in a marriage where physical affection had long left the building, and as a fit woman who still looked brilliant for her age, the lure of a Joe Lara was too much to resist. I feel for her in that, but my God, it's one thing to think of it--but to DO it? Crazy.
      Also, Dan Grynder, the guy who analyses flight logs and all the rest states that without a doubt he believes Joe crashed that plane intentionally. He thinks this was a suicide/mass murder event and that just adds to the tragedy of Gwen's end :( May she Rest in Peace.

    Curious…if Joe was piloting the plane, was it not investigated as a purposeful crash to “suicide” himself, Gwen and the main church leaders in light of this HBO series or something else exposing them? I watched a moment ago, “Life with Gwen and Joe” done in May 2020 where Gwen gushes about Joe’s piloting skills and he says something to her about not questioning her courage if she trusts flying with him!

    • @mooney9046
      @mooney9046 Год назад +5

      I think he just wasn't that skilled. They explain in the documentary how Gwen kept buying him jets, planes, and even a helicopter. He didn't have time to really learn how to fly all those safely.

    • @KelseyDunlevy
      @KelseyDunlevy Год назад +5

      Please check out Dan Gryder's RUclips channel. Dan covered this plane crash extensively, and as a pilot himself, he explained that Joe had no business flying that jet. Basically, Joe got his rating (or certification) on flying that jet when he shouldn't have. Joe was certified to fly VFR (visual flight rules), and then he pushed a flight instructor to give him his IFR (instrument flight rules) certification. When Joe took up their jet for that fatal flight, he most likely got spatial disorientation, and unintentionally flew the jet into the ground.

    • @merrymeditation
      @merrymeditation 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@KelseyDunlevy Dan's latest video on this, if it's still up, made he clear he does NOT believe this was unintentional. He says straight up this was a suicide/murder event and that he can prove it.

    • @KelseyDunlevy
      @KelseyDunlevy 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@merrymeditation i did see Dan's latest video claiming it was suicide... bold claim, and I can understand how Dan got to that conclusion, but I'm not sure if we'll ever know for sure that it was an actual suicide--unless Dan has got a suicide note or something!

    • @merrymeditation
      @merrymeditation 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@KelseyDunlevy well, I found his reasoning for this theory to be compelling. Joe's background of alcoholism and its consequences on the psyche, match a feeling trapped reality. Michael Shamblin said in his latest videos that he felt Joe hated his life, hated the position he was in being Gwen's financial boy toy and that he was resentful at everyone in Remnant. It works for me as a motive, and if he was drunk that day, even more so. Anyways, true that we may never have it officially confirmed, and maybe we have to let it go, but Dan's conclusion was that it was technically impossible for someone to do this kind of dive down unintentionally holds weight for me.

  • @Julie1988HI
    @Julie1988HI 27 дней назад

    My women's Bible study read her book and did the workshop when it first came out. We had great success and many revelations about food being a crutch where we needed to rely on God. The workbook was well done and presented every single scripture that related to food. I found it useful for years. I didn't keep up with Gwen. And I didn't know she started a church. I'm not sure there was a reason to 'join a church' that revolved around this message. The moral here is to look for a group of Believers who will introduce you to Jesus Christ. He is real. He died for you and He is returning soon. Follow Him!
    This story is just sad. How can she pour her heart into a book on idolatry and get sucked in by the love of money? Preaching on anything but the love of Jesus is a bad idea.

The church didn't seem like a cult until you started hearing the stories of the people who were members. A church member that I became good friends with and her husband were trying to leave the church, and it was like the stories that you hear about people who try to leave Scientology. My friend and her husband actually relocated to another state instead of officially leaving the church. The church was trying to turn my friends teenage children against my friend and her husband and kept telling them that if they left the church, they would never see their children again.
