  • This year (2024) marks the 25th anniversary of the murder of Jill Dando, a British journalist and television presenter best known for her work on the BBC hosting various programmes including BBC News, Crime Watch and Holiday.
Tragically Jill was murdered outside of her home in London on April 26 1999. Her death shocked the nation and the case attracted widespread attention. Despite investigations and even trials the perpetrator and his motives remain a mystery.
Barry George had a fixation on Princess Diana, including a 1983 arrest outside Kensington Palace. The prosecution argued in the original case that he murdered Jill Dando due to an obsession with her resemblance to Princess Diana.
George was convicted of murder but the forensic evidence was later discounted and his conviction was judged unsafe by the Court of Appeal and quashed in 2007. After a retrial, he was acquitted on 1 August 2008.
Queen Elizabeth II had even commented on Jill's death at the time, which Kinsey Schofield says was unusual for her to do so on a non-royal figure.
Kinsey Schofield is joined by The Sun's Crime Editor Mike Sullivan.

Also his Irish legal team turned it into a political IRA campaign stating at the outset he was 'a victim of English justice as the Irish have suffered before". I personally believe he did it. Alan Farthing, Jill's Fiance, was Assistant Obstetrician for Catherine Princess of Wales. I don't know if he met and married someone after Jill? Haven't watched this doc as boycotting Netflix.

Jill had the “ girl next door “ quality and was universally loved . She was certainly talented , beautiful and modest .
No credible motive exists for her murder , just ahead of her marriage to Alan Farthing .

"Hi Kinsey, instead of piling on the criticism of Meghan and Harry, let's look at their journey from a different angle. Many people of color around the world see their experiences with the royal family as emblematic of the systemic racism that persists in elite institutions. Meghan, as a biracial woman, likely faced challenges and microaggressions that are all too familiar to many.
By stepping away from the constraining traditions of the monarchy, Harry and Meghan are charting their own path and using their platform to advocate for important causes like mental health awareness. While their decisions may have ruffled feathers, they are living authentically and uplifting marginalized voices.
Rather than tearing them down further, we could choose to celebrate their courage in prioritizing their family's wellbeing over antiquated norms. Their story highlights the need for greater inclusion and progress within institutions steeped in history. With open minds and empathy, we can appreciate the positives they represent for many oppressed communities yearning for change."
