AWESOME- Like you guys, I have a trip to a rarely traveled location with lots of data and little detail outside of gov reports for bulls in 2 weeks! Any detail on planning and what worked best is highly appreciated!
Great channel!!!! Hi from NC🙋🏻♀️♥️ My son was an avid fisherman and was in the BassMasters Pro Tournament years back. He’s been gone for 7 yrs now and watching you guys fish reminds me of him 😞 God bless you all! 🙏🏻❤️
This is everything. The reason bull trout, and all native and wild fish are so thrilling to chase after doesn’t really have anything to do with the things you think it will (big fish, aggressive fish, plentiful fish etc etc) it’s thrilling because they are wild and free, and in your own pursuit of them you have no choice but to become wild and free yourself. Hope you get to do a lot of more of this kind of thing in your lives. It’s what being alive is all about.
videos like this are harmful to the few remaining wild places no cap. you are egotistical fish pimps, and your actions do not align with the your claimed values.
@@bike4fish241 I think the truth is that ALL anglers (and I'm assuming that your screen name indicates that you're an angler) are harmful to fisheries, period. The impact of recreational fishing, catch and release or otherwise, can't be over stated. If you think that your personal exploitation of wild resources excludes you from that conversation simply because you don't have a youtube channel then you're deluding yourself. For better or worse (and we're all trying to figure out the answer to that question) anglers have become a leading voice in the conservation of cold water species, particularly salmonids. Videos that excite and educate people, anglers or otherwise, on the value of native species and wild ecosystems are essential to the survival of these species. Cuz guess what, theres a lot of serious issues affecting the long term survival of these creatures, and "fish pimps" are a relatively small piece of that puzzle. Climate and habitat issues will come for our wild places at a slow and relentless pace, whether they're kept "secret" or not, so when that day comes you better hope there's a bunch of dudes with fly rods holding the line. Someones gotta do it. All that said, you're right to raise concerns. These are conversations we all need to be having, especially when it comes to threatened species. Will consumptive users of our natural resources be the ones to ultimately save them? Or will we just be standing there, torturing the last wild fish at the end of a line as the world burns around us? The future isn't set in stone, but it's certainly something thats on my mind daily.
@@TightLoops i appreciate your well worded reply. as for you assumitions about me, i have a LONG history in actual habitat restoration for wild fisheries, working with non profits and the US government. I was an avid fly fisherman for many years, and I have quitely fished most of the fisheries in the northwest USA. but, eventually I came to the realization that I was concerned enough with the CURRENT health of our wild fisheries that I have personally given up my PASSION of catching wild fish in wild places. As a former north Idaho resident, who has been active in local TU as well as with IDFAG, i can say without a doubt the rules "protecting" bull trout in idaho are a complete joke, as is there managment of wild steelhead. its 100 percent ok to go to the headwaters of nearly ANY river in the region in september, find schools of bull trout stuck in low water, and throw barbed and baited trebble hooks at them ALL DAY LONG, taking every fish out of the water for pictures. 100 percent legal.... ponder that. Carp fishing is pretty dope though. Muskies and pike too. they should make some videos that highlight ethical fisheries. As far as my name, i organized a annual cycling event along a local river to raise funds to go directly towards habitat restoration efforts on that river. PS that fish is in spawning colors, and is still SLIGHTLY prespawn but probably alrdy in the pool it plans to spawn in. spawn is early sep-early novemeber, with an outmigration when the early winter rains raise the water level.
Im still convinced that this is the best current fly fishing channel out there, the filming and effort that goes into portraying a story is next level. These are amazing places and amazing films I one day hope to replicate.
I might recommend Jon B's long-form stuff too. His Australia, Devil's River, Louisiana, Amazon, and Sudan documentaries/series are fantastic--even if you don't like all the Googan content
Awesome video! All of the emotions you felt take me back to my pursuit of a Bull in the Idaho wilderness. The excitement over the Cutt's, the exhaustion looking for a Bull and the dismay from constantly being let down not being able to find one. But when you caught your Bull, it took me right back to my own experience. It was like living it all over again. So exciting a moment. Thank you!
What I love about your videos is that like you don’t edit out the skunked days. Like it makes me feel so much better on the days that I don’t catch fish, or have to change plans. Also, love the science and history behind this, because really that’s a lot of what fly fishing is about, science and knowledge that gets you on the fish and makes you appreciate them even more. Love this channel!
I so appreciate that you show the tangles and challenges that even the best fishermen have to deal with on an occasion. That is part of this deal. Keep on keepin it real.
FINALLY, I have been waiting for a wildfly video for so long. Never disappoints, as always! It really bothers me how underrated your channel is. These are by far the best quality fly fishing videos on youtube!
I’ve watched a few of your films and they’ve all been entertaining and beautiful to watch. I just subscribed now, hopefully will enable you to do more. Good luck!
Great job. I think the part at 31:00 with the suspenseful music timed perfectly, and then to hear Scottie's voice so pumped for his buddy is possibly your best work ever. It's like we all felt the sense of relief and redemption. Epic stuff. Thanks for taking us along.
Just an all around beautiful video. Beautiful country, beautiful editing, beautiful fish. This is the first video I've seen from you, but I will continue watching because of it.
My roommate and I stayed up and waited for this to come out so we could watch it. So stoked after watching it. What a great video!!! Seriously so good and inspires me to go out and adventure and seek out such incredible places and fish.
This was an incredible film, with each film you have been putting out the production value goes up. Keep ‘em coming, we all love following these adventures and just gets you amped to go on your own fishing adventure.
Guys this is by far the Best fly fishing video I have ever watched here on RUclips. Thanks for sharing this wonderful fishing experience with everybody here on RUclips. I didn’t even know about the existence of bull trouts before and the place where you went to catch these fish was really breathtaking! Thanks again and hope to catch up with you one day
At 70 years old and not able to wade the rivers and climb the banks anymore. All fly fishing gear as of last year handed down to the kids. But, I have fished almost every corner and center in Idaho. Traveled the world and have to say , Idaho might just be the greatest gem of them all. But you have to get there first , which makes it even better. Great job guys and love your fishing adventures.
This is better than anything on Netflix. Takes me back to the thrill of chuckin chubbies up those same waters, back when I was lucky enough to have the chance. Stay wet, stay wild.
ive watched every video of yours for a few years now, and have followed bryant for a long time as well. this is the first time ive gotten genuine goosebumps from one of the videos, congrats on a badass fish bryant!!
Shooting rapids, hung up on rocks, deep fast-flowing water, incredible footage. Have been fly fishing for bull trout for 40 yrs. and hope for many more... wearing my life jacket
I watched this last night on my 65"TV and got to say this is by far one of your best videos of fly fishing I have ever seen. The slow motion takes on those cutty's was spectacular and the scenery as well. IF you guys ever come to PA would love to guide you on some of our waters. Keep up the great work.
Amazing video, the best! The serenity of these pristine rare waters is finite, as in won’t last. On a rare opportunity go there, do not seek it repeatedly nor draw attention to its value. Be a blessed witness of natures beauty, preserve, don’t disturb! 😆
Good stuff fellas!! As an avid fly fisherman and native Montanan I too have that special appreciation for the Bull Trout. They are a very intriguing species! Tight lines boys!
Unbelievably beautiful country! Thanks for taking us on this trip. Bull trout or not the trip was well worth it! Congrats on the nice bully at the end!
Being my home waters I really appreciate you guys keeping the name of these rivers and tribs out of your podcast and video. The popularity in this area has spiked ridiculously in the last 8 years and it is a clear physical difference. The bull trout are no longer a secret there but aren’t always the easiest to catch. After watching your video and hearing the pod, the one important tip for this waterway (for bulls) is your retrieve angle. Swing doesn’t do a whole lot here. Idk why, but it’s not too productive. But once again, thanks for doing it right and putting the work in and not bringing the world with ya haha tight lines fellas
What an awesome video. I loved your commentary and stunning views wow! I've always wanted to fly fish in Idaho so I'm grateful I got to travel along with you 😁
How you don’t already have over 100k subscribers blows my mind. Incredible work behind the camera and especially telling the story of bull trout. I’m always pumped for my next fishing trip after watching your videos!
Hands down the best fishing Chanel on RUclips. Such an inspiration and your guys quality is outstanding blue line co included. Love the vids. Happy to be a supporter🤙
Another dose of quality stuff guys! Your mix of the fun of being outdoors, the challenges, difficulties, planning, setbacks, weather, cooking, friendship, the fun of fishing ... and informing and educating. It's not just good fun to watch but it's important information you're putting out. Good up the great, great work and "keep gettin' after it!".
I'm new to the idea of fly fishing, but now I'm hooked. This was the most incredible video production I've ever seen outside of Hollywood (and better than most that are done on the inside). I can only imagine the amount of work that went into planning, shooting and editing, and the end result was fantastic! Keep up the good work!
This was fantastic! Absolutely love the channel, the pod, and all the good stories that come along with it. I wish I purchased some merch before I left the States. Let me know if y'all can ship to Japan!

This video is 🔥 Absolutely love all the history lessons and the fishing was fun to watch!!👏
I so appreciate that you show the tangles and challenges that even the best fishermen have to deal with on an occasion. That is part of this deal. Keep on keepin it real.
It's the hours you put in, and the fish you don't catch, that fuel the passion and keep you coming back. Great video.
Amen!
