Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday (May 17) visited a memorial in Harbin where he paid tribute to Soviet soldiers who died in the battles for the liberation of China. Putin laid a flower and paid tribute at the memorial, as a ceremony held during his visit to the northeastern city of Harbin, which has historic ties to Russia. Putin arrived in Harbin early on Friday to kick off the second leg of his two-day state visit to China, his first foreign visit after victory in the presidential election.
