Hello, I am currently a junior in high school who is in the top 10 in a class of 460 students. I have been dreaming about being able to go to an ivy league school ever since I was a 7th grader. I am in the IB Diploma Program at my school, and I have been involved in a grand total of eight extracurricular activities throughout my high school experience. However, the biggest commitments I have made are to student council, theater, track, cross country, PALs (Peer-assistance and leadership), and cleats for kids (acted as an assistant coach for a 6th grade soccer team). I was in track and cross country for my Freshmen and Sophomore years and even became a team captain for my cross country team my sophomore year but I quit both activities this year since I could not handle the pressure of being in the program that I was and I lost passion for running. I acted in three plays throughout my whole high school experience, and I was heavily involved in volunteer work with my theater club my Freshmen year, but I only played small roles in those three plays, and I was inactive for Sophomore year and the first semester of Junior year. I was a committee chair for student council my sophomore year and I became parliamentarian this year but this semester, I have now become significantly less active in student council because I finally realized I was not truly passionate about it. I only joined it because I thought it would increase my chances of getting accepted into an extremely selective school. My sophomore year, I always helped out with the PALs club at my school, but I was never an officer. Lastly, I was an assistant coach for cleats for kids the first semester of this year even though I did not actually do a lot of coaching. I mostly showed up and interacted with the kids on my team by scrimmaging against them. Now, the only organizations I'm actually involved in are stu-co and theater, but theater is my passion and I want to be able to get accepted into an amazing performing arts school/program such as Harvard, Yale, NYU, or Carnegie Mellon. However, I fear that I did not do enough for the performing arts to get accepted into those programs. I really want to know how high or low my chances are of getting accepted into an elite university with an amazing performing arts program. If you could, may you please help me figure out what I can do to maximize my chances of getting accepted or is it too late for me to do anything more? Lastly, I'm sorry if this message is too long.
