To R Scott W: I get what you're saying; however, I was at this show and it was a new deal with Jimmy. I think it took him a bit to get the swing of things. I saw WSMFP at the Bud Center in Loveland, CO when Jimmy was brand new; he flubbed a lot. Look at the shoes he was filling - Mikey. Jimmy has totally gotten it and has made his mark - the boys love him, the fans love him; unlike when George was there, though he was OK. I think die hard Mikey guys have accepted Jimmy as one of their own, which is pretty friggin cool. I just missed Mikey - he died just before my first show. I wish I had known him, but Jimmy's doing OK. IMHO
Not so sure that Jimmy has been as accepted as you do. I have been following WSMFP since 1993 and I love them. I also believe that Jimmy is a great guitar player but do not like the sound he brings to the band. It just isn't right to me. Jimmy can hit an astonishing number of notes but Mikey showed that sometimes less is more. He knew how to bend those notes and let them linger. I would take George back in a heartbeat if it were up to me.
I was at this show too! Definitely could telling was a fresh fit. Nonetheless The boys still pulled it off with a great show! I've always loved this song after seeing it in Omaha!
Jimmy Price is a fantastic guitar player and I 'm sure Mikey is smiling down on them every time they play but as JB always reminds people "it's still Mikey's band" such a sad loss tho!
Not sure on the cause, but Jimmy's guitar actually has a little reverb and delay during this Chainsaw. Guess it's this arena. His current tone is one of my biggest issues with current WSP. The "lingering lead" can somewhat be created by technology. It's called a delay pedal
I have been wearing out my buddy, Old Bill Wunderlich, for the past 5 years with this song/video. I will never stop. It's a master piece
Thanks for the posting. I love that song....New to Widespread Panic and loving them.

His current tone is perfect for panic
and a 90 Tele Deluxe Plus. Jimmy Herring is an incredible guitarist. Mikey was one of a kind no doubt but Jimmy kills it. To each his own I guess.
