  • Shawn Nevins ‘The Way Of Subtraction’ Interview by Iain McNay
Shawn is author of four books including ‘Subtraction: The Simple Math Of Enlightenment.‘ In the foreword he says, ‘This book answers the question of how to find out the answer to who and what you are beyond any shadow of a doubt.’ His spiritual search ended on December 28th 1999 having started 7 years earlier. During that time he meditated for thousands of hours, fasted, prayed, retreated, met spiritual teachers, and never gave up.
His primary teacher was Richard Rose but he also spent time with Bernadette Roberts, Douglas Harding and others. His breakthrough came when he read through a transcript of a talk by Franklin Merrell-Wolff.
Shawn’s story has many ups and downs. His sincerity during his search shines through and his many realisations on his path are tangible.

just emailed a teacher about this today. The universe certainly is responding to my questions. There's a dance between the Infinite and our quest. Learning to dance with life and building trust in its benevolence is more valuable than a large 401k

Thank you for a beautiful interview🙏. Iain just gets more and more adorable as the years go by.......and Renate the epitome of wisdom and gentleness. We are very blessed. I hope somehow we meet one day.

Enlightenment. Self-realization. Compassion. Patience. Completion. Authenticity. Creativity. Curiosity. 🐡
*_Blinded by self-importance.......the visionaries of society haven't the vision of a blind musician nor the perception of a churchmouse_*

This gave me hope in a very difficult time. Like Shawn I "lost " my only person that was "enlightenment" to me. I didnt know anything of anything and it lasted for three years. He was my psycologist and then after this periode he said everything was illusions. After all my own experience I still was not grounded in anything. I stared to douth my own experience and that was the worst periode in my life. Is it true , was this happened to me , maybe all was "illusions " ? It was a gift listening to Shavn Nevins telling the same . Thank you Thank you. It is all true !!

Mr. Nevins' poem at about 55:00 brought to mind Helen Schucman's vision from A Course in Miracles, which is enacted in this excerpt from a BBC documentary about the Course: acim.org/semicentennial/Helens_Vision.html

Excellent video but one suggestion when you show the books or the DVDs take your stupid fingers and hands away from the front of the item and get it closer to the camera - do you really think people have telescopic vision or what?? Again I enjoyed the interview.
