A 22 year old leading his team to the best in the league that says it all
Knoda2k I guess 2011 was really a long time ago
Bro I was just watching a Dom2K’s video about Derrick Rose’s 2011 season and this video just uploaded. That’s crazy. My opinion about his MVP season is that he was special during that season. He truly captured lightning in a bottle and elevated that Bulls team to wins that they wouldn’t have without them. Now, you can say that he had one of the weakest MVPs in history this decade, that doesn’t change the fact it was impressive. Now, I might be a little bias because Rose is my 5th favorite player of all time but I honestly believe that Rose was special at his peak.
You can even make an argument, he wasn't at his peak. Just at the beginning of his career being only 22 1/2 at the time he won mvp.
Dre Summers well it is true that D Rose was very young but for where his career went after the 2012 Playoffs, this was the peak of D Rose career
Sorry but I didn’t hear a single person at the time that thought anyone deserved the MVP over Rose I remember my friends and I would talk all the time about if anyone else (specifically Lebron) got it over him the NBA was clearly rigged and it’s the truth he deserved it there’s no argument they had the first seed in east it was his fair and square
They also improved by like 20 games in one season. Which is impressive, without very many roster changes. To this day, I swear of Rose wasn't injury prone, he would've been a top 4 player of all time. He was like Westbrook but with a much better IQ, a slightly better shot. Really he just didn't shoot the 3 that well, but he would've improved for sure
I thought Dwight Howard's season that year was better than derrick rose. Im a magic fan so you can take my opinion how you want but that was only year i thought Dwight Howard should of won mvp. The bull was a playoff team w/o rose my opinion and without dwight we were a bottom team in the east. D rose deserves the mvp so i never complain about it but dwight my opinion should of won it.
Shinoobi God I’m not arguing with your main point (I think Rose earned his MVP but it was honestly almost a toss up between him and Dwight imo), but I gotta say that with any other point guard of the era, that Bulls team would not have been a contender. There was nobody in the league at the time who could make the plays he did at his size and position. He truly was too strong, too fast, too big and too good
@@shinoobigod3363 I can kind of agree with you, Dwight had more stats to back up his MVP win but he just wasn't winning. Imo, Derrick Rose still won that despite Howard's monstrous season, it just wasn't monstrous enough like the exception of Westbrook winning MVP over James Harden for literally playing a historic trip-dub average season while literally breaking scoring record with trip-dubs. Plus, you can't count the fact that the Bulls would have been a playoff team w/o Rose, the MVP is a regular season award and Rose defo one-upped everyone else in the regular season, even if they made the playoff without Rose, they would have been easily swept because they have no one to orchestrate the defense. An injured team with supposed top 4 defense healthy when Rose literally made 90% of the offense, carrying and having literally the worst starting shooting guard at his wing is more than enough to win MVP over anybody in that season imo.
If you looked at how athletic D Rose was in his MVP season, it was crazy. This man would make a layup on 3 different people at the same time. Good Days
He was like a way smarter, way more in control Russel Westbrook.
D-Rose that season was something special. Listen, I am a Heat fan so as you can imagine I am not a fan of the Bulls, but there are 3 bulls jerseys I own. An MJ jersey, a Wade Jersey and a Rose Jersey. The man was SPECIAL.
3. Rose is STILL playing at an elite level...
* After FOUR KNEE SURGERIES!
* After being MISUSED OFF BALL/playing SMALL FORWARD for the last 3 years!
Scoe Sixtray he's not playing at an elite level 🤦🏾♂️ you know what what do you mean by elite?
@@EasyMoneyMid Dude, you have to be brainwashed & brain dead to utter those words.
@@EasyMoneyMid P.S
Derrick Rose's is statically better in nearly every category than his MVP season.
That's elite - genius.
@@scoesixtray2457 uh oh we're pulling out the per36 stats
@@kyrito11 doesn't make it less valid, physically he just wants to preserve his body, but that doesn't make him any worse of a player. Mans got a family too you know.
I'm having a whole argument with someone trynna say lebron deserved it over Derrick🤦🏾
Same here
The same people arguing for lebron this year be the same people arguing for Lebron in 2018 even though it be the same dumbass argument about carrying a team
Between Westbrook, Kyrie and Rose I chose Rose without hesitation, he was a monster and a hight IQ playmaker, that's not a given.
2017 Russ > 2021 Kyrie > 2011 rose
@@dumbass4624 your name says it all
@@TheTariqibnziyad that’s not very nice 😞
The thing with Rose is that he never reached his full potential, and really never entered his true prime
Drose’s ceiling is one of the highest I have seen ever... The man can just ball
It blew me while looking at that discussion. People were saying Rose was OVERRATED like okay buddy
Good to see that ur making vids during lockdown
game style is different between 00s and 10s, especially the defensive intensity, mid-range and 3 pt game, I think rose absolutely deserve it
these videos are so well put together and so well edited.
Appreciate you bro. Keep going man. Love your content ✊
drose was 22 at the time, it was like his 3rd year in the league. Curry was in his late 20's when he won it. Also curry is a shooter and he didnt have all the attention on him like rose did. You may not think what Rose did in his mvp year was so amazing but the dude wasnt in his prime yet not even close and won the mvp.
Na don’t do my man Nash like that his scoring is impressive with the players he played in his career
D Rose🌹 was on another level than Russ and that’s Facts💯
Rose would’ve been the GREATEST point guard EVER
I'd go far enough to say he'd be in the G.O.A.T. conversation, I mean look at him, mf was MVP at 22 and the best player in the league for so long, LeBron James, coulda been thrashed by this man.
derrick rose is the best point guard in the nba he won a mvp trophy and help the bulls team who has the best record 62-20 in 2011 at the eastern confernce
I don’t think he had the best mvp season ever but I do think that he definitely fucking deserved that MVP award over Lebron and everybody else that season, that’s just straight fax.
Well, you know, i was talking BS für 7:45 but i need content. Thanks for your honesty!
My favorite MVP season by any player
love the videos
Every basket of that 25 was a highlight as well
Still watch Drose in Detroit with his acrobatic lay ups make me want to say I miss Does Dunk he use to do also more health for him cause I dont want to see him quit the league with on ring
watching him now in the playoffs with the Knicks, man
Derrick rose is the 2nd most magnificent player I have ever seen. I think he could have been better than MJ. Idk if he would have, but I believe he would have been greater than LeBron for sure.
My man melo is underrated he took two losing franchises to multiple playoff series if he had the same help Kd, bron, pierce, kawhi had he easily would’ve won a ring super clutch and never begged for fouls
The cavs were a joke when LeBron got there for the first time and he took them to the finals
@@giantl9196 and LeBron is the 2nd greatest oat hes not saying Melo was THAT good
When I watch prime Drose .. his way better than everyone else on the court except LeBron.. even now I love to watch Drose ... It's not about stats ,,it's all about him winning and intertaning way more intertaning than all pointguards... Drose dunking over bigger defender was way more fun to watch than curry logo 3s. In my opinion.
Edit; btw that MVP season,he was only 22.. what if he won MVP at his prime.
D Rose did it without HGH 😂😂😂
Pascal siakam vs Jayson Tatum video
If anything Derrick Rose is underrated, they forget his lack of floor spacing, the Bulls playing at a slower pace in a much slower paced season, the way he’d dominate other top PG’s especially CP3, how clutch he was etc. no his MVP season wasn’t up there with 2016 Curry 14 Durant and 13 LeBron, but if you look at how players got their stats in context taking pace, play style, impact , teammates etc, one can argue DRose had an MVP season comparable to 2019 Giannis
Derrick rose never had a prime. He was 22 when he won MVP
You were doing so good until you degraded his mvp season by comparing lol. It’s an irrelevant comparison cuz ALL mvp seasons are different. Roses mvp season was different because of how he did it and how young he was.
His argument is that winning is should be the determining factor for his mvp. Since the bulls had a worse team and a better record than Miami.
Imagine a 22 year old averaging 25 a game and leading his team to 60 wins
I think is normal he's not being the highest MVP because he was still young
It's tough because we never saw this man in his actual prime. We only saw him in his great beginning years. If injuries didn't take a big toll on him, he'd easily be one of the top point guards.
People really hate Howard forgetting he was second and was to many the second best player in the league and maybe the best player in the season
Yes, Dwight Howard finished 2nd in MVP voting that year.
Drummond is a role player while Lopez was a allstar on a legit team
Nash seasons were one of the greatest
Facts Facts Facts ROSE 🌹 MVP
okay i agree with everything but, how in the hell was Steph Curry's 2015 MVP season better than rose's. You gave no reasons you just said it's not touching it. Rose averaged pretty much the same stats and curry had a way better team so he won a few more games i don't know how its better.
D rose the goat 💯
It’s so unfair for Drose that his MVP numbers gets compared to guys like Curry, Harden, Westbrook who were all in their REAL prime when the won theirs. People forgot that those guys were all in the league in 2011 and Rose was so much better than them that nobody was talking about them, and they’re all around the same age. If he never got injured he would probably still be better than them
That is such a good point man, it honestly puts into perspective just how hood he was at a young age and how far he fell. A 22 year old Westbrook, Harden or Curry weren't even near the same class as him at the same age
They really put Kyrie 😂
Thank u bruh it's bout time some one speak the truth
Drose my favorite so of course ima be biased 😂😂
There were three members before Nash joined the 50-40-90 club. The one you forgot was Reggie Miller.
But mustard Derrick rose was a rookie and he won a mvp but Luke in his 2nd year he is averaging 29 9 n 9 and people are not giving him the recognition he deserves
He wasn’t a rookie 🥴
Rose got the Bulls to the 1st seed with limited help and beat Miami in the season Doncic has not done that context over numbers
@@Aceboogie_13 yes he was
@@Aceboogie_13 derrick was a rookie
You left out at what age these guys win mvp. Rose wasnt even in his prime yet. Show the stats for all these guys at age 22. The FACTS are he would've been greater than that.
Drose is the 🐐
I'm going to be 100% honest and I know a lot of people are going to flame me.
Lebron, Dwight Howard, Wade, Kobe, Durant, and Westbrook all were better than Derrick Rose his MVP year while also having good teams. If you think that Lebron, Wade, Durant, and Westbrook all didn't deserve it because they were partnered with superstar talent, then thats fair. But Howard and Kobe were dominant that year, so I think at least those two deserved it more. I'm sorry if you guys disagree, but I focus equally on talent and team success, and three of those six easily had better years while also having solid team success.
And I'm a Celtics and Bulls fan, so you can't say I'm biased.
Rose lead his team to the best record in the NBA over the heavily favored Heat who had just added Lebron & Bosh.. that alone was worth an MVP not to mention every PG matchup he had that season he literally SHITTED on, Rondo, CP, DWill, Westbrook, Nash, you name it Rose probably dropped them off. I will say Lebron was the better overall player that season but Rose was the BEST player on the NBA’s BEST team and that’s what an MVP is.
i miss lil tjay instrumental on your old videos
D rose never really got to reach his prime he was only 22
Do a video about a nba lockout season
If you look at the context deeper I think people tends to overrate Rose because we didn't able to see his dominance for a long time because of injuries so we tend to assume that he may be a top 3 player In the league at his best. As a die hard DRose fan I think he will be really really great if not to injuries but I don't see him being a top 5 player in his prime because of how the game has evolved in to a more of a shooting league. Top 10 player in the league at best!
I think it was a great season but it gets overrated because of nostalgia
not really, people just loved the man, statistically not the best but no once could have carried an injured Bulls team like THAT the way DRose did
Mvp d rose is better than 2017 russ and 2015 steph like he’s better than both of those mvps versions of them 201 Allen Iverson tho? That one is really close 2019 Gianiss I’ll give Gianiss that one
The reason D Rose Won MVP over Lebron is cuz they had the best record in the NBA at the time and the team was not loaded. You put Dwade and Bosh on that team they were winning the championship.
Rose wouldn’t score nearly as much as he did if Wade and Bosh joined him
He wouldn't have too
@Yung Mustard I have a question? So since Russell Westbrook is on the start bench cut list and he’s an MVP as well do you think roses MVP campaign was better/worser then Russ’s? Me personally I feel like you’re slightly undervaluing the significance at the time because although Russ has the triple doubles or almost has the triple doubles record I’m not even sure about Oscar it’s just at the time it was unheard of and now it’s like meh. And I feel like the same can be said for Rose I actually think it was so far back that at THAT POINT he was one of idk maybe 11 players to end a season with 2000+ points 700+ assists and 500+ I’m not 100% about the numbers and yes I know now we can look back at that and laugh cause we have rookies doing that. But that’s what leaves me to my final question. Are we valuing the MVP as if we were looking back at them today? Or are we looking at the MVP seasons for what they were at the time? (Sorry for long paragraph)
Lebron’s defense should have won him the mvp. If Rose had Wade and Bosh, he wouldn’t have averaged 25ppg.
He battling very close to the big 3 of miami. And his bulls team has a better record.. noah, deng and boozer are in and out of injuries.
Let’s be for real mvp d rose is better than 2015 steph curry like comon bro he’s definitely better than that version of Steph curry and he’s better than both mvp of Steve Naah like that’s not a debate and he’s better than 2017 wrestbrook also 2001 Allen iverson is really close between 2011 d rose and 2019 Giahness I’ll give u that he’s definitely better than 2011 d rose
1:34 you put FT% twice, I think you meant the 3P%
No LBJ was 33% from the freethrow line that year.
Serious question, how can you point out how lackluster his roster was and at the same time say he has one of the weaker MVP cases?.. Everybody you just named had all star caliber players on their team and much more flushed out rosters. Not even going to mention the injuries on that roster. Kurt Thomas starting at C and him being a slasher and having virtually no floor spacing. None of the MVPs had anywhere close the situation that he had imo.
Situation should not determine who is better
D rose was 22 and got 62 wins with 0 help 😂 and kd and harden had a worse record than him with more help
Put some respect on DRose's name...
...or keep repeating false narratives and miss out on greatness!
the comment you showed about devin booker is disrespectful. Chriss is not a bum, he's shown a lot of talent and defensive prowess in Golden State
The question is unfair because Rose never even reached his prime but he still getting compared to a first ballot HOF and another Potential HOF possibly HOF shows how good he was and could have been💯
He should be a HOF imo
@@yuiopm9812 who Kyrie?
What about Russell Westbrook mvp damn near better than all of them?

And how did I disrespect it sir?
Yung Mustard not sayin u i’m saying people as a whole
I saw this thing that said would you pick d rose or cp3 in their primes and people picking d rose but cp3 undoubtedly better than him in his prime
Not really D Rose mvp season is better than any season CP3 had CP3 just had better longevity
ngl, cp3 seasons in 2008 & 2009 were arguably better than rose 2011 year
Yung Mustard Fr and no one talks about those seasons
@@yuiopm9812 CP3 has been just as injured as DRose during the same timeframe.
Only difference was media wasn't overblowing CP3's injuries like they did DRose.
Same goes for Blake Griffin, Paul George, Jrue Holiday Chandler Parsons, Kyrie Irving, etc.
After DRose was the first to wear the "I can't breathe" T shirt, racist Chicago media attacked Rose & national media (especially ESPN goons) followed the lead.
You can’t tell me Derrick Rose was gonna be the best PG in the league if he never got injured
Derrick Rose mvp was most def better then curry In 2014-15. Rose avg more points and ast with less all start help
And D Rode avg 37 mpg in comparison to Steph who avg 32 mpg. The Warriors were blowing teams out & lead the league in avg win margin by a mile. You gotta use context when u talk about Steph’s 2015 MVP season
Yung Mustard. Like Tom thibadeu didn’t play every started 40min. The warriors had a better team than the 2011 Bulls. Let Derrick Rose have klay at SG the Bulls will will more than 62 games
@@tmac731 curry played in the west d rose did that in the east so even those 62 wins you speak of isn't the same as what curry did
Tyler McGee Idk what Thibs playing him hella mins has anything to do with it tbh
Derrick Rose deserved the award but is possibly the worst MVP in league history.
I don't think curry's first mvp is better than that of rose
I mean that year he got no help from a top notch or another star player and dont set aside the fact that he's young from that year yet carry a team and have a better team record than Bron. Bron got D. Wade and Bosh on his side yet every time they face D. Rose always bring the W home Bron outscored or out rated Rose but Rose outshined him.

1. Derrick Rose's MVP season was just as good or better than the last 20 MVP's because...
* Rose had far less help than any other MVP in NBA HISTORY!
* All other MVP'S had at least 1 All Star teammate.
* Rose lead his team to the NBA best record & Conference Finals with a starting Shooting Guard who averaged 4 PPG.
