I love how in modern days dumb cgi kids fests about people in costumes flying off to save the world for the billionth time are classed as ‘entertainment’.
This series really had an impact on my childhood. I remember when I always tried to replicate Robocops car using legos! I really miss those times when you were young enough to never care about contemporary issues of today. Either way... People who where born early enough to remember TMNT, Robocop, Saber Rider and all those awesome cartoons during the 80' and 90's... Please keep those memories alive!!!
Crime Wave. It's the best episode of The Robocop Animated Series, by far. Certainly my personal favourite. Masterpiece. A work of art. :) It's also my favourite thing about Robocop, apart from the classic original proper film from 1987.
I remember having to wake up at 6am to watch this on Saturday mornings. The Marvel Action Universe: SpiderMan / Dino Riders / Robocop and sometimes X-Men. Great memories!!!!!
In the next reboot, they will gender-swap Robocop! Toxic masculinity! But if Robocop is a woman behaving like a man, it’s all boss babes and girl power!
Not to mention, current day reboots are nothing but quick money grabs and platforms for virtue signaling. With no heart or the entertainment value that the originals had. Often times just laying waste to formerly successful franchises.
The animation is top-notch for it's time! I had never seen this before today and I'm an 80's baby. This in the era where they took the time to make quality cartoons
People always say crazy things like this. No, the animation was not top-notch “port time“. Things just used to be better. The art and animation in most cartoons, especially in the early episode, much better than what you get now due to computers and a generally lower, work ethic
1980s: "Let's make an ultra violent action sci-fi movie for adults with blood gushing everywhere, hands and limbs being blown off by shotguns, and people literally melting." Also 1980s: "Now let's make it a cartoon for kids!"
They made toys for kids in 1988 based on Robocop and in 1985 they did merchandise for kids based on Rambo II and in 1991 they did Terminator 2 merchandise to kids even in 1992 Aliens figures

Very few of later serials, cartoons etc after the original Robocop menaged to do it justice. This whole evil corporation thing is hard to pull off and everybody seems to think it's easy and that's the problem! If OCP's every project resulted in chaos and mass destruction they would go bankrupt long ago.
@dogsandcods Why not? I think Yoshiaka Kawajari of Ninja Scorll, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Wicked city, Demon City Shinjuki etc. fame and Madhouse can do an amazon Prime TV-MA adult animated show since Robocop 1 and 2 were intended for adults
RoboCop is certainly more agile and flexible here, if still a little robotic in his movements. Because this is a cartoon, he is not hindered by the clunkiness if the suit Peter Weller wore.
Interesting. Sounds like a single season. I guess it didn't catch on with kids. But then it was a cartoon fashioned after an R rated movie. Which I am guessing not many young kids were able to see.
@alex511. Actually there were only 12 episodes. There would have been a 13th episode apparently but Marvel Productions took the money to help fund an X-Men pilot. (just looked it up.)
I haven't seen this in decades and forgot most of it. I'm surprised how much they hit the tone of the original film while still softening it up for kids. Human cops resenting Robo's existence, OCP corporate drama, humanity vs. programming, the baddie enlisting the aid of criminals. Huh.
I saw Robocop in theaters when i lived in St Louis when i was 5 years old with my parents and 12 year old big brother and thought it was an awesome movie! and the next year i had a Robocop toy and i watched this cartoon sunday mornings.
