“Why should I apologize for the monster I have become? No one ever apologized for making me this way.”
This quote fits him so well
Yeah and
you don't expect someone to be understanding and kind when the person who is supposed to guide his life never treated him kindly.
@@shreejaroy3578ah... Ofcourse you do!!!
@@leenmcheik7862 what?
@@shreejaroy3578 it's difficult to do so, but having a bad childhood is not an excuse to abondon ur parents. It is not an excuse to harm anyone really, everyone has a brain to think, contemplate and judge his own actions, after all he's not going to stay a child forever, so yes you can expect someone to be kind and understanding even after living horrible things, in fact, they SHOULD expect themselves to be so! well probably not that kind, but kind enough not to go into the dark road nor push anyone into it.
@@leenmcheik7862 I mean ofcourse
Like if a depressed person murders my love ones doesn't mean that he shouldn't be put in prison for life
Having a trauma isn't an excuse for causing harm to others, so kang ho's action as a prosecutor is wrong.
But being unkind isn't that much hurting others.
And about the parents issue. I don't care.
If the only cause of his bad childhood is his dear mother, then why should he keep contact with the person who put him through the trauma?
Just like I said a past trauma shouldn't cause u to harm others, then why is his mother excluded ? Because we know for a fact that kang ho mother unknowingly destroyed his childhood because of her own past trauma .
She was not a good mother. But the only good thing is that now atleast she is regretting ger action towards her son
She basically abused him, deprived him if motherly love… so I feel like she’s a huge part of why he turned cold like this. It’s sad cause she also had situations happen to her as well and was a single mom. Smh
Our actions have consequences be it good or bad decision it has a effect on us she deserve it coz she was so concentrate on the goal of being sucessfull that lost her way
@@benws2184 you deprived that of with its o too
Watching this scene from kang ho perspective in episode 9 makes it even more sad. He's cutting of ties with her to protect her. He knows how dangerous it will be to avenge his father. Episode 9 shows that even after everything his mother did to him, he still loved her.
Exactly!
Despite all she put him through, he was still able to see the big picture and love her and Mi Joo. So glad they were able to restart their relationship and spend time together before it was too late. Great series.
Before this scene, the mom mentioned that she had a dream of his dad looking upset and glaring at her. She was so clueless at the signs she thought that it meant the dad was jealous of her meeting her son, but it most likely the dad is mad at what she had done to their son.
can you tell me the episode and the timestamp where that happens (the father mad to the mother…)
@@aghaaslam9575 Like I said, it was before this scene in this episode.
I think there's another really important aspect to this scene as well. That's Kang Ho's perspective. Can you imagine how unwanted he must've felt in this scene? His mother could physically force herself (using both hands) to stamp the papers but she couldn't tell her son to not do this; that she loves him. She should've been so furious. It's so clear he wants her to stop him and fight for him. Lee Do Hyun does it so well. You can see his little jaw movements. It's so sad.
Also towards the end of this scene when she says "I get that you're embarrassed by me since I'm a poor hillbilly." She really doesn't get it. He's not doing this cause he's embarrassed. he's doing it cause of the way he's been raised up in trauma and pain. Lee Do Hyun's expression in this scene nails it. Also Kang Ho putting all that stuff he bought to make a point. I''m not embarrassed of you I have more than enough money to get us out of here'. (Really assholic the way he does it but his anger is SO justified) All the kid ever wanted was love from his mother.
Also his trauma shows so much in the next scene! 😭He could bear whatever his girlfriend was saying but as soon as the snob rich girl says 'I hope my clothes don't reek of this', He stops the car, gets off and throws the food away. (Reference to when people used to bully him that your clothes reek of pig smell.) Kid has so much childhood trauma. 😭😭
Please u explained it so welll😭🥹

This show is definitely going to make me cry, i just know it. The actors are great!
This scene hits me harder than any break up scene.
Same goes for me😭
Havent watched the drama. But the clip that shows that he was never full is very sad. Asian parents maybe "tough" but some if not most would starve just to see their children full.
I think she deserves this.
Imagine how much you've hurt your child that they'd want to remove from your life to escape the hurt!
The people who defend her
Either they have never had abusive parents or they have normalized the abuse.
I hope there's a real apology for him when he's an adult again and they don't try to excuse her on the show with "he did it for her sake" like in other kdramas.
Or they are abusive parents themselves. Only beating the kid to death is abuse, everything else is "tough love"
Well I mean, even if she did those horrible things to him, she clearly does care for him and feel remorse, so I don't think it's wrong to feel bad for her or feel the instinct to defend her
Or perhaps they do have strict parents and over time they’ve matured and understood the root of that treatment, grown some compassion and empathy, and are able to forgive and keep necessary distance from it (which is a very hard thing to do)
@Emerickkie Ohlala She literally felt remorse for her actions multiple times and blamed herself

But some of his behaviour doubts me 😓 Kang ho has been the right-hand man of Song Woo Byeok for quite some time. The cases he has handled are not only about the mother and the daughter
And why did the author make Kang Ho have an accident that resulted his mind being like a 7-year-old child? If Kang Ho is indeed a double agent, he should still carry out his mission
But I really hope what you said will be true plot 👍
This scene was so powerful!! I cried. Such great actors.
I just wanna know why she expects him to even see or meet him when all she did was physically and mentally abuse him. I understand she wanted a good future for him but she crossed the path.
The moment you abuse and try to imprison or control someone, it is the moment you lose any form of excuse/ leniency for your behaviour. Anyone who is decent would certainly not do any of this, much less to a child who never asked or had any say in being born in the first place and only wanted what any child wants and needs. To feel accepted.
Oppression, mistreatment, disrespect, and harmful words, actions will only result in resentment and the rightful stance of the victim as a grown-up to cut ties forever and put them in their place.
This is the generation cycle yall. A trauma that was passed from generation to generation. She was raised that way so she raised his son that way too.
There is no excuse. Treating children as objects, as subhuman, abusing in whatever way, making them feel unwanted/ as if they're a "guest" who has overstayed instead of being an actual decent human and being an actual "parent" allow no room for forgiveness or excuses. It's the victims who pick up the broken pieces at the end, so it's quite rich coming from the perpetrators this kind of last resort move. Screw them. They deserve all the payback and karma for it. You should be providing safety, care, understanding, and acceptance to your child. There's no excuse. If you're not up to wanting to behave like one or having a child, then don't.
Deserved. She said it herself, do anything to become a powerful person. Karma
I didn't feel the least bit bad for her, she deserves that and more. What she did cannot be erased, she stole the life of someone she claims to love. Even if his grudge against her fades, mine will last.
It's easy to say that if you're a child lol

I can’t do any toxic parent drama these days. Congers up too many childhood memories 😢😢
He wasn't like that before, but people, and especially she, are the ones who made him like that, but I don't know why I'm feeling bad for her.
What she did was not wrong, but the way she did was wrong. Parents want their children to be successful, and there is nothing wrong with this, but pressurising your child will never bring you a good output as parents, as it may become a lifetime trauma for them.
Abuse is abuse and the effects are long lasting, for a whole lifetime. Those who are at the end of it will be the ones picking up the broken pieces. So, no. No clemency, pity or mercy are deserved for perpetrators because they know EXCATLY what they're doing.
Even Kang ho himself still feels love and desires connection with his mom, that's what fuels his rage in the first place. He loves her and doesn't feel the love back, the love he feels he deserves. She made a mistake, and she had good intentions and has love and care for her son, but became horribly misguided and unhealthy in her way of treating him. It's ok to feel remorse and empathy for her, just as it's ok to be furious at her, the important thing is to be ok with feeling both, which was one of the issues Kang ho had that led him down this path, he fully embraced his anger and never actually mourned his childhood.
She deserved it after giving so much pressure and demand to her kid. Who can live continuously with that kind of mother? 😢
i did the same thing to my biological mother , it was hard for me but i have to do it , for her to learn a lesson and realize all the bad things she did to me since i was young ,it takes me many years to decide but i got surprise that one day i made it . at the end of the day ,she is still mom , but i was a son that never had chance to feel the love of a mother also never been acknowledge as his son 😢
So hurtful to see this scene and his car accident later....hope their relationship will be better....can't wait till next Wed
Well that's the problem, if this scene is so hurtful, what's more when we get a scene where Kang Ho and his mom has a better relationship, and suddenly he remembers everything
She showed him no motherly affection during his childhood. The only thing he could do was study. It pissed her off when he didn't. I kind of felt bad for her and didn't at the same time.
The more you watch this series, the more we come to agree that both of them are in the wrong, one is hurting while the other is hurt. And yes - there are mother-son tandems like THIS
I understand the feeling of mother , coz every parent want to see children success but sometimes we don't know how much it had effected other coz we are human we can't understand others feeling but atleast we should think in positive that mom do it for better of children
Her mother did that to him just bc she had a rough life. She didn't want him suffer by becoming weak. She is the best mom with all her weaknesses considering her educational background
So you never had an abusive parent😑

This is so crazy. Spoiler alert.
The mom deprived kangho of every enjoyment and forced him just to study. She didn't even let him eat properly. She wanted him to become a good prosecutor who would be powerful to help weak people. But now kang ho is working as a right hand man and marrying the daughter of the man who killed his father. Kang ho is even getting adopted by his father's murderer.
he's marrying his step sister?
@@Callmeqaver no there's actually two people involved in his father's death. So she isn't his step sister. Also there's a big conspiracy behind. You should watch the show. Each character has its own motivation.
THE GOOD BAD MOTHER IS MUCH MORE BETTER THAN OTHER KDRAMA💛
I cried every episode
honestly i dont find the mother’s treatment of kang ho as worse as most of y’all are saying…maybe because i’m asian and this is too normalised for us…to the point that we become immune to this….she was a single mom and she desperately wanted her son to get out of the hell hole…she was frustrated of not being able to afford things…it was her fear that her son would end up in poverty if he doesnt study well….she wanted him to get out of that state…she didn’t care if she herself remains poor till the end….yes her way to tell him was too much but it just shows how serious and big of a deal it is for her….she didnt want her son to compromise so she made it hard for him so that he gets frustrated and wants to get out of that state…at some point he started doing it for himself cause it would pave a way for him to not hear the nagging of his mother anymore….it made him feel like she didn’t love him….maybe not the way he wanted but she actually did….her actions can’t be classified as black or white…it’s very grey ….like so many things in life are
him cutting ties off with her was his way of saying i made it and i don’t need u anymore in the sense that he won’t stand listening to her anymore….deep down he wanted his mother to deny but in her eyes she felt like it was probably the only thing she could do for him to be happy as she had always been harsh towards him when he was a kid
edit : and of course he wanted to cut ties off with everyone so that when his family background is searched for they’d find nothing and it was his way to keep his mother and girlfriend safe
Lol. Is this why asian countries have higher suicide rates too? Seriously gtfoh. She mentally and emotionally abused him and he is a fucked up adult from it. That kind of mindset is why a lot of adults now re fucked up. Tough love isn't love. It's abuse. Discipline is different than tough love. We lead our children not force them into submission.
Very well put, the issues came from a misunderstanding of each other and a misunderstanding of what the other wanted and needed. She was in an unhealthy mindset when raising him and he was in an unhealthy mindset when going about his career, and it's pretty easy to understand what led to both of them being that unhealthy in the first place.
@Emerickkie Ohlala i’m going through that phase right now…i’m 19 and going to university in 2 months…all i have done since the past 2-3 years is study…i feel like there’s a monster living inside my body and not a human…i never enjoyed my high school years like my friends did…missed my farewell party because i wanted to study…my mom wanted me to go but i didn’t….because i had an entrance exam near….i have to study 12+ hours with constant worry and fear and thinking how better are my competitors getting….i’m a good student…but when i look back i think i made the right choice….not that enjoying and having fun is wrong but most of my friends ended up in mediocre universities with very less pay scale in the name of placements…the university im going to is one of the top universities in my country and consequently my starting pay scale would be 6 times that of my peers…just because i put in those efforts and they didnt….at the end you gain or lose something…i’d rather lose these 2-3 years worth of memories than live a mediocre life which i’m not used to because i come from the elite class in my country….you need to put efforts and hard work to gain these things…parents tell you to study so that you grow up and live the life the way you have always wanted….it is their way of guiding you cause when you reach that age and compare yourself with others who are better than you then you’d wish you had someone to guide you when you were distracted during your formative years…this is what parents are for….for him it was even more necessary because he was poor…..honestly very few kids are passionate about studies….it has to be forced upon them one way or the other….academic pressure in asian countries is really too much….western parents don’t give a damn about their children after 18
Parents can only force you to a certain extent…after some time kids start studying on their own…like he did to get into college….i studied cause of fear of regret in the future….now that i’m in college i would enjoy my life and study simultaneously….entrance is harder….scolding kids and being harsh with them for their own good is not abuse….again as i said in this drama it’s a bit out of line cause come on his father was murdered..he was pushed into those circumstances..nothing is normal about this scenario so the so called abuse is too normal for this…..but irl it’s not this much but not none at all
Lee do Hyun excelent 👌

I like to know how it all started - so many people n no one said a thing - like how many years 38 - and not a single word did come out of them.
I would have left her too. She did horrible things to her. How tf did she expect him to turn out. She beat him, starved him tbh, and was juss all around mentally. Emotionally. And physically abusive

Damn I understand everything now😂
I applaud for both actings. Superb 👏.
Mother character here is bad n good. She has no reason to bring up her son like that. It s completely wrong in every reason. Her husband died, is not the child's fault and no one should educate kids like she did. She create her son become cold n no empathy. She taste her own mistake then when kang ho got accident. It s like she get a chance to reunite and fix her relationship with her son and so kang ho with her. To see who is his real mum
I think there's more to this. I think kang ho get involved in some kind of dangerous case. So dangerous that thats why he do this; cut ties with his mother.
…I too severe ties with my mom. The toxic relationship is too much to swallow.
I think he kind of had a last hope that his mother will grab onto him .
A last hope that she will not give up on him so easily 😔
I hope in next episode they both will able to heal each other slowly.

idk i think in a way she also wants him to hate her, its like giving it all eventhough you become the villain through the process. yeh i dont like this idea
This is so emotional scene donyunıe
Guys, old school Asian culture is like this. Nothing wrong with that. What you perceive as abuse, we see it as discipline necessary for survival. You need to also remember that while the world is beautiful, it is still really fucked up, and i dont blame the mother. Of course the kid's hurting too, but in time he will learn to appreciate what she did. Trust me, i know.
are you a parent?
Plz don't ever have children with that mindset. I'm an asian too. Even in the worst of old school asian parenting, very few mothers starve their children just so they can study more. Mostly they just force us to eat more for our heath.
@Lotus Rain I take that you haven't seen the TV show yet?
I was only critiquing this one clip at face value and under the assumption that most have not seen the show. I was only critiquing on the basis of negative reinforcement such as spanking. And while it's definitely not ok to starve children, I can understand why the mother acted that way.
On a separate note, I like to respectfully ask that you do not tell me whether to have children or not. I would even ask that you retract that comment. It is not only insulting, it is also disrespectful to treat any stranger like that on first impressions. I posted this on the basis of not just education but also having a decent conversation without getting confrontational like telling me not to have kids.
After seeing the latest episodes i feel bad for the mother here even though in comments everyone is saying that the mother was the one who turned him into a heartless cold person. Being abusive towards your kid and being strict are two different things. Kang ho was too young to understand her mother's reason for being so strict.
depriving him of food, slapping him for saving his friend, forcing him to become a prosecutor, and many others is simply “being strict” to you?
yes she had a reason. her intentions might have been good but it doesn’t change the fact that her ways were bad. if i’m a parent and my intention is to keep my child safe so i lock him up in a cage, is that justified given my reason?
Love it in k dramas where a car will just plow into a car that’s stopped in front of them. When there’s room and time to avoid it. 🙄🙄🙄🙄 they love plowing down people and cars. Never have I seen them plow into a building.🙄🙄🙄

I look at it differently! Yes she was hard on him but it was all out of love and her need for him to succeed at all cost based on her experience with his dad . I feel for her.
