My hot take is that Kaiser abuse towards Ness should have been handled more seriously because now most of the fandom doesn't even see Ness as a victim, Kaiser not only emotionally abused him but physically too
me as an abuse victim myself, i feel it's because the mangaka wants to focus on Kaiser more (who is also an abused victim) so i do think he's taking it seriously. However do agree that it wouldn't have cause a lot of hate towards ness as much, but it's more so Blue lock fandom being a problem as a whole for having a pattern of shitting on characters who has been mean towards Isagi, back before anime was released Reo got the same treament so i think it's due to focus on power scaling rather than complexity of the characters and their hatred for counting on another person (which they called driding) which is all in all fandom filled with men who definitely have toxic masculinity mindset.

30:59 Regarding kainess. I like it as a case study of how relationship can go from something nice to something toxic, and the angst that goes with it. Yes, I believe there was a point when they were good pals at least from Ness' pov. We've got some nice panels in Ness' backstory where they act like friends: they train together, they shower together, hell Ness is the one who cut Kaiser's hair and dyed the ends blue. They are both so messed up in their own way that it was kinda meant to end up the way we see them now. Most kainess fics I've read either focus on their past or they make them break up and later Kaiser tries to make up for his wrongs. Yes, they are very angsty and usually don't have a happy ending. Most kainess shippers I've interacted with think that Ness should leave Kaiser and learn some self respect. TLDR: Kaiser and Ness are intresting characters and there is a lot untold things to unpack with them.

That's why Sae plays the way he does, cause he knows Rin's playstyle and wants to support him. That's my take on Sae. And if that's true, then they made Sae perfectly
yeah, i've watched a theory vid that said exactly this. If you read the manga isagi recently discovered "Genius" vs "Talented learner". The vid speculated sae figured out he's a talented learner and could never beat god-given talents that geniuses have. But Rin on the other hand, is a genius (the flashback where child rin reflectively cut into Sae's game) So sae wants to be a MF that can "raise" godly strikers.

And considering the plot of blue lock and how it’s a training facility for high school males, there’s not much room for female characters to have a role (aside from being a staff member like anri). Considering this, I’m fine with the lack of female characters in blue lock and I wouldn’t trust the writer to write a good female character.

Rin is a good leader because he brings out the best of his teammates weapons and his plays inspire other players and open up offense opportunities the same applies for Aiku in defense, meanwhile Karasu is a good boss because he organizes and coordinates people but his plays are mediocre and uninspiring the same applies for Niko, so the argument who should be captain just depends what the team needs, if they need a leader who inspire others it should be Aiku or Rin, if they need a boss to tell them what to do it should be Karasu or Niko

I guess to elaborate my thoughts on the Neo League: I do like it overall, but not as much as the Selection & U-20 Arcs. There are SOME characters I enjoy: Kaiser, Lorenzo, Chris. But then there are SOME I don't like: Ness, Agi, Hiori. Some backstories and developments are super interesting to me: Yukimiya, Snuffy, and Kaiser once more. But again, there are some I didn't like at all: Ness, Kunigami, Hiori. And personally feel the pacing is something that breaks my enjoyment from reading Neo League matches. They're bloated with so much information and moments. That the match gets dragged on and on. And I understand why, it's taking time development nearly everyone old and new in the match. However, it feels like a double edge sword. The growth of these characters is nice, but at the cost of having to slow down the pacing of the match dramatically. Which leads them to being 30-40 chapters. And very personally. Bogs the enjoyment down. Because it's either read it week to week, like it's mostly intended for, but have to sit down for a story or moment you may not like or care for. Or wait, for who knows how long, for the match to nearly or entirely finish and binge read it.
Shido is sort of overrated. Yeah, with the merch, there isn't much but WOW the amount of crazed and really into him fans I've met is WILD. (Probably also on behalf of the fact that he's voiced by the same guy as Gojo.)

Hot take: Kaiser's backstory didn't need to be so brutal and borders on misery porn. I think it's a good thing Blue Lock doesn't shy away from difficult subjects like this, but I think like 3 chapters worth of a child getting physically and verbally abused is too much, especially with how graphic the abuse itself is. It's one thing to discuss the subject and to show it, but it's another thing when the manga lingers on it for several pages. It feels... invasive? I'm not sure how to describe it, but it feels like I'm not supposed to see this, like it takes away Kaiser's dignity. Am I crazy for saying I don't wanna see a child getting beat up from several angles? I feel like that's not a crazy thing to say.

I guess to elaborate my thoughts on the Neo League: I do like it overall, but not as much as the Selection & U-20 Arcs. There are SOME characters I enjoy: Kaiser, Lorenzo, Chris. But then there are SOME I don't like: Ness, Agi, Hiori. Some backstories and developments are super interesting to me: Yukimiya, Snuffy, and Kaiser once more. But again, there are some I didn't like at all: Ness, Kunigami, Hiori. And personally feel the pacing is something that breaks my enjoyment from reading Neo League matches. They're bloated with so much information and moments. That the match gets dragged on and on.
And I understand why, it's taking time development nearly everyone old and new in the match. However, it feels like a double edge sword. The growth of these characters is nice, but at the cost of having to slow down the pacing of the match dramatically. Which leads them to being 30-40 chapters. And very personally. Bogs the enjoyment down. Because it's either read it week to week, like it's mostly intended for, but have to sit down for a story or moment you may not like or care for. Or wait, for who knows how long, for the match to nearly or entirely finish and binge read it.

@@rivershroom Idk, but in my experience, Shido, and the other three, are overrated to me because of the amount of fans they have, it almost makes them MORE unlikable. And it's also just because they're attractive, even though they all have bad personalities, makes me sick. (In a sexualization way sort of.) It's like hearing a song you like so much you begin to hate it because it's overplayed now.
By Isagi being mid, I mean I think even with all the chapters to binge, the NEL's pacing is just...I don't mind the time it takes to score, just the fact that Isagi was sort of getting outshined by characters like Charles or wtv who were introduced just to be introduced. Ig that's not really his fault tho.
And yeah, the obsession is mutual, but if you had watched or read EpiNagi, Nagi literally made Reo promise not to leave, and then proceeded to leave Reo. He's def the b*tch in this case, and I hate how anime only don't get this part of the story. I guess it's also b/c Nagi's bad at expressing things but, idk.

Hot take: Kaiser's backstory didn't need to be so brutal and borders on misery porn. I think it's a good thing Blue Lock doesn't shy away from difficult subjects like this, but I think like 3 chapters worth of a child getting physically and verbally abused is too much, especially with how graphic the abuse itself is. It's one thing to discuss the subject and to show it, but it's another thing when the manga lingers on it for several pages. It feels... invasive? I'm not sure how to describe it, but it feels like I'm not supposed to see this, like it takes away Kaiser's dignity. Am I crazy for saying I don't wanna see a child getting beat up from several angles? I feel like that's not a crazy thing to say.
