I'm trying to learn how to animate characters..watched this from start to finish...your clear instructions in a soothing voice would certainly be helpful to me. Subbed just in case.
Cool, good to know! I was planning on doing more technical tutorials, but do happen to have a degree in character animation, soooo... I'll definitely consider that :) Thanks for the sub!
ive been trying to figure ou how to use krita for a year or two and at one point i just gave up and uninstalled it. I found your video and now I finally understand! Thank you so much for this :D
LOVE a) your tempo b) your soothing voice (believe me, i've been through hours and hours of online tutorials) c) the foley noises you make while painting XD no seriously, great to see you casually introducing what you do so amazingly well! xoxo from switzerland
AH thank you so much!!! As a first time tutorial-maker, this makes me so happy to hear :) I always worry that I talk a little too fast, but try to break things down well. Haha my tablet was right there by the mic, so there's a little additional Wacom ASMR going on XD Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Hey i haw problem when i play animation in krita is like normal but whrn i save my animation in mp4 file the animation is much faster then in krita ;-; pls help
I agree with other comments stating that this video is the one they understood. Your soothing voice, and the way you describe makes it easy to grasp. Thanks so much.
Thank you soo much for uploading this kind of video, it has actually help me understand Krita alot better than what my teachers have taught me, and it also helped me ace my computer final examination
this tutorial was absolutely brilliant. helpin me stay entertained and stimulated by new things during lockdown aka learning how to animate.. thanks! massive help.
Hey Tahnee, I just wanted to thank you for the work you put into this. I have come back to this video several times since you first uploaded it a couple years ago, and it's frankly one of the very best animation tutorials on RUclips, or anywhere for that matter. The level of detail, and clarity of explanations you give can only be rivaled by master courses that a person would likely pay hundreds of dollars for. You are an excellent teacher, and explain everything so clearly. Thanks again, I just wanted you to know how helpful your video has been to me, and I'm sure thousands of other artists. EDIT: Since you mentioned DaVinci Resolve at the end of the video for video editing, I can attest to the fact that it is a very good editing program. I bounce back and forth between it and Premiere all the time, and while Premiere might be more robust in it's features, I actually prefer DaVinci to be honest. It's very easy to use, has a great interface, and it really isn't lacking in anything major. It can do everything you would ever need for like 99% of editing projects. If someone is wanting to do a lot of visual effects, then coupling Premiere with After Effects is pretty much essential, but for most editing jobs, DaVinci Resolve is an excellent program, and is FREE!
This is such a wonderful tutorial. I’ve been trying to animate on krita for a while but get so frustrated at how long it takes me to structure everything. These shortcuts make me so excited to get back to animating! Thank you 🙏🏻
@@tahnmeepuh I have a problem. I don't know what to download on the FFMpeg thing I downloaded everything but when I did what you did I never got the EXE. files I only got the regular ones
I wish i had discovered this video a year ago; you are the first one who explains this the exact way that i needed to understand it. I am eternally grateful, and promise to give you a shout out when i win my first animation award!
I have searched many tutorials but none was as perfect as yours, your way of explanation and your cute voice everything was so perfect. thank you so much Tahnee😍
I dont know if you remember me, but I was in Live Animation class in Seoul Institute of the Arts. I didnt have a chance to thank you. You taught me a lot and i'll continue learning. Thanks!
BTW, one question for you. I heard you say 'Krita is a little limited on brushes', but is it? I happened to look into Blender Grease Pencil and it has even shorter options on brushes than Krita, and people still make great outcome from Blender. I mean, I am curious if many brush options is so much important.
This is an excellent tutorial on animation in Krita. I wish this had existed when I started using it. I like the idea of duplicating the layer to get the same timing, but I feel like clearing all of the keyframes manually is a pretty annoying chore. I also prefer having auto keyframe on and just scrubbing the timeline and hitting delete on the keyboard to create a new keyframe. I feel like you may have to revisit this tutorial in a few months, when Krita 5.0 comes out. They're merging the timeline, animation and (I think) onion skins dockers into one new docker and they're also adding a graph editor and the ability to keyframe transform masks, which means Krita users will be able to have tween animation similar to Adobe Animate. It's no character rigging, but it's a start.
Thanks! Yeah still not sure how to clear all the keyframes, I too wish there was a feature to clear the entire layer; still it's a pretty quick process-- faster than animation! And YESSS I just learned about the v5 stuff, making notes for an update tutorial because oohooHOO those are some cool features!!!
Fabulous tutorial. I've watched tons lately for other software, but this one is superior. You speak clearly, making you very easy to understand. The volume of your voice was at a great level, The content was also easy to understand. I think I'm ready to tackle my first animation project. Thanks, Tahnee. I look forward to more videos from you.
Wow this was such a nice and simple explanation video! Very neat presentation and lovely voice dear! Thank you for this video! Now I am ready to make animation! 💪
This was a really nice tutorial, thank you! The keyboard shortcuts were especially helpful-I feel like they're going to save me a lot of time. Thanks again :>
Currently about to make an animation for school. It's the first time I'm gonna try animating on Krita and I really hope I can learn a bundle from this video. Thanks in advance for making this!
So helpful! First video I watched on how to animate in Krita and you explained everything so wonderfully clearly! I really appreciate the time stamps in the description, too. Thank you and please make more Krita videos.
Thank you very much Tahnee for your clear & smooth tutorial, I agree on many posts here; I checked many other youtube tutorials and this is by far the most helpful. Greetings from Chile, South America
Thank you so much for doing this tutorial! I've been wanting to start animating on my computer for a long time (I usually animate with FlipaClip on my phone), but all the programs were or too complicated or too expensive, and all the tutorials I watched about Krita either weren't clear enough or were outdated... This helped me so much!
Sometimes when Krita starts glitching on me-which, thankfully, doesn't seem to happen as frequently these days as of v. 5.1-I'll just save my document, exit out, and start it again; then it's fine. Saves me time, and time is everything to an animator.
I just hit pause when you said you'd be up for doing an After Effects tutorial to accompany this and I see you've not posted in 7 months. I hope all is well and look forward to new tutorials from you if that's at all possible. Thanks for helping me pick up on Krita's animation quickly.
Thanks so much! I had really REALLY rough life patch after posting this but am hoping to get my act back together soon. I'm working on the plans for the AE tuts :D So stay tuned! Glad to have helped you pick up Krita!
This is fantastic! Ill be happily looking through your other videos when I get the chance. Ive used krita for a long time for illustration but Im looking into expanding. I did a test animation and it's barely 20 frames and it took me so long, so Im sure using the short keys and what you've shown here will help! Thanks for walking us through your process!
Great demo Tahnee, I've been wanting to take a look at Krita and now I will- armed with some good basic knowledge. I wanna see your reindeer animated! :)
I loved this tutorial, thank you so so so much! It's really easy to understand, (it helps you're so funny when the glitches happen). I'll be sure to put it to good use!

This is a very good and simple tutorial. I could understand what you were talking about AND you weren't talking super fast lol. So you should definitely do more tutorials in the future! Great video!!
Hi I just upgrade my Krita software and wanted to see what's new. 13:57 Are you adding new frames or extra space between old frames? If so how did you do that? 22:15 To make it faster you can delete the frames that you want by click on the specific timeline layer you want and scroll the frames (just click at an empty space and drag) then click delete button on your keyboard or left click > remove keyframes. P.S. If you really, really want to remove all frames from a layer just selected the layer on the layers docker then press the trash can icon or right click select remove layer. P.S. Remember that a frame or layer can't be deleted or changed if the layer is locked.
Fantastic tutorial. Please guide, how to save our work, so that we can open it later and complete our animation. Sometimes we need to open file to work on it several times.
Thanks so much for the tutorial walkthrough :) I'm trying to learn it along with Clip Studio Paint to see if CSP is worth it or if Krita is all I will need.
you remind me @alejagalesa, she is very good on blender, and both of you are starting their channel. Please please make more videos like this, which are very difficult to find and well explained.
Thanks so much, I'm glad you found it well-explained! And I'll have to check out her videos, I've been playing around with low-poly Blender for other projects and have lots to learn :)
