I've never played with a drummer that satisfied me like isolated Fishman drums do lmao. I really did myself a disservice practicing and jamming with his drum tracks before joining a band haha. My favorite drummer to play with at the moment is my friends younger brother, who at 12 was interested in drums (that was 8 years ago) so I told him I'd buy him a kit and pay for his lessons cause I always promised myself I would enable anyone with interest in music, because my parents forbid me from earliest yearnings to play an instrument. Anywho, I had him take lessons with a jazz drum teacher for 4 years and then after that 3 years under the tutelage of a former drummer for the JBs. So proud of the kid, trained hard and did his homework all those years...he's a God damn groove monster these days. I always keep my ear to the ground for a better musical opportunity for him
He is the heart and soul of it all heir us nothing he can't do and Is so eager t keep learning always they all used to sing amazingly in with one another i wish that was still possible but I'm a fan since 1990 and i love them all for being wizards they can channel celestial energy beams at the gorge if the beauty that surrounds could be translated into music has become can be the highest most bliss stardust conduit jelly with a pulse on a rock in a bubble that canyon channels better than anywhere in the world made by glacial lake Missoula my home Fishman is a gangster in a poka dot dress
I have watched Billy go from a video of him sitting on someone’s couch playing his new song Dust In A Baggie to watching him jamming with Trey at a Phish concert!!! And Holy Shit do they make the most impressive pairing!!
trey is actually like for real at the point that when he was these guys age (Billy, Rick?) maybe he didn’t have that idol he looked up to mentor him with gear setups, invites to play, just things that as a budding musician i’m sure changed the lives of Rick and Billy. now he’s doing for them what he should have had himself. maybe he saw what the bad road did to him and if he had someone in the same space that was an idol doing it the right way it could have helped it. Trey is just such a great soul
@dontworrybeslappy if you are talking pre sober 90s Trey, when he and phish were untouchable then 100% agree. If you are talking Trey in the last 20 years while Phish is a struggle bus then you are extremely lost in your bias.

This combination could go far!!! ✌💀👍🎸🎼🎶🇺🇸🔥 I hear definite Allman Brothers vibes in the jams. Damn , I live 30 miles from where this happened. I had to work , fuck work!
I love whenever trey plays with another guitarist live…I’d be cracking up if I was playing w him! He makes the most intense faces and I’m sure it looks super weird if you lock eye contact with him for super long
for all the love shining on these two, Fishman still back there handling business and directing the groove with so much ease.
Fish is ALWAYS the MVP!!!

Trey teaching Billy the "forever note"!
Probably why Trey's experiment with no speaker cabs on stage didn't last very long.

I heard Trey asked Mike if Billy could sleep over last night.

That was fun. Billy needs to sit in more often. 💣 🎸
I wonder if billy was supposed to ring the phone?
Don’t recall Jerry ever having Trey join him on stage.

I’d like to think Billy in front of this band gave him as much energy as much as he gave backwards to the rest of the band too.
