Exactly right! ...What follows is a paragraph of clarification I inserted in the description of "The Most Extreme! Vol 3" yesterday - "It's very possible that in one of the segments with Natalie doing "The Incredibles,," that Nat misunderstood what was going on. Nat says, "Ma'am, you DO have a fine ass, but what the heck?" Elastigirl lets out a "sigh" when she looks at her reflection in the mirror. On the DVD commentary, writer-director Brad Bird confirms what he had in mind: Helen is NOT •admiring• her own posterior; she is perceiving flaws in her appearance (her body shape - she thinks her tush is too big, perhaps?). Brad Bird was commenting on this trait that he observed in women: Always something in their evaluation of their appearance will never be 'good enough' for them. (Nat may have in fact understood this; her comment doesn't tell us definitively one way or the other.)" Here's what's unclear in Natalie's comment on Elastigirl: Is Natalie ••AGREEING•• with the point that •she thinks• Helen is making - "Ah yes, I do have an attractive butt!" ? Or, is Nat grasping what Brad Bird intended: That Helen •disapproves• of her own big butt, and is 'reaching out' to •reassure• Helen that it's not the flaw that Helen thinks it is?
Elastigirl isn't admiring her butt, she sighed because its gotten so BIG
