Bought the TX base with the 599xx Alcantara wheel and VG T3PA pedals. Can't wait to try it out and this review makes me even more excited! Nice review. Subscribed!
I have the original 458 italia wheel for the 360 and it only has the bungee cord system inside no vibration but there was the a cockpit version which you covered that had vibration
Im new to sim racing, I've never even used a steering wheel for a game before. So I have been watching a lot of these videos trying to find a wheel to start with. Just ordered a g27. Cant wait!!
Great Review! As you may know, Mr. Basher is working on an adapter for connecting the Fanatec pedals sets with the TX wheel. That will bring the console racing to a whole new level! Hopefully you can get a hold of it and do a review. Also I hope that Thomas is going to come up with a new wheel for the Xbox One some time in the next 10 years...
I got the f430 and the buttons fail after a moth or so. I hope you guys use this wheel a lot to see the quality and resistance and then do a follow up review.
Lol this video turned my Xbox One on @ 6:44. I had to rewind and check it, but yup happens every time. Very good review btw, I've been waiting for a solid review of this wheel since I just can't drive with a pad no matter how good it is. It's not a perfect situation to have to buy a good set of pedals, but much better than just a pad. I've been trying to get a setup for both pc & X1, but man it's taking work so early on the systems lifetime.
Hey would you still use this in 2020 or is it super worn and if you would use another wheel in 2020 witch one because I am starting sim racing and I need it to be affordable.
Forza 5 was so full of glitches and bugs I went to Forza 6. I use a controller and it was just horrific. Forza 6, however, kicked butt. Great vid, informative, clear and concise, you have a new sub, thank you.
it s nice that they have adds ons if you could find them anywhere i havent found one store there sell the add on pedals or shifter. and 1 little thing you dont say that you have to update the firmware before you can use it on the xbox why shut that be, on pc i understand but on xbox that is made for, it shut be done aotu when connectet to xbox
Inside Sim Racing This wheel is incredibly expensive in Australia ($699 at jbhifi). Have you tried the cheaper TM wheel for xbox one? Of course it won't be as good but is it at least as good as the old M$ wheel?
Thanks for this review. I have become an avid fan of Forza 5 (got xbox1 3 months back), still playing on pad and felt its time to progress. Was half considering the cheap non FFeedback version but this video has totally sold me on the TX! If my budget stretched further I would consider the wheel and pedal upgrades you suggest (or even the mad catz wheel instead) but for now this should suffice :D Also planning on getting the playseat challenge following your review, seems perfect for me! Limited room space (and ocd girlfriend with limited patience for clutter!) You're coverage of Horizon 2 is also the reason I decided to get it at launch, should be real fun and something else to use my wheel for! I may get into PC sims at some stage but only have a dated laptop for now so no go :'( I'll stop rambling but to finish just wanedt to say you guys do a really great job! Really enjoy these videos and you are very genuine, informative and clearly love what your doing, so many tryhards and elitists in gaming "media" these days. Going to check the forums also but just wanted to say thanks. so... THANKS :)
Thanks Darin, I was wondering about these 2 wheels (Tx & t-500) and how they would compare to each other. Now I know what I'll be buying here in the future. Thanks Again Darin
That brushless motor is probably why it is performing so well in comparison to the T500 and other wheels in its price range. Brushless motors are AMAZING in comparison to some of the old Mabuchi 540-550 motors like in most sim racing wheels on the market.
I don't know if this has been answered but can I use my T500RS pedals with this wheel. I know I can use my shifter, but don't know about the pedals. Is so then I'll buy this in a heartbeat. Thanks for yet another professional review.
Inside Sim Racing Well thank you very much then. I think I will grab this Italia edition instead of fiddling with third party hardware to get my T500RS running on Xbox One. Thank you for the quick reply
Unfortunately my thrustmaster tx wheel broke on first use, it updated to the .45 firmware ok went through its automatic calibration ok, then first use with forza on the second bend made a clicking sound then a grinding noise and died. I was offered a replacement or a refund but with its plastic feel and apperance and it only lasting for literally 30 secs i opted for a refund i lost faith, im now awaiting the release of the madcatz pro wheel due out at the end of feb. I was totally gutted and your review shows the fun i could of had if it had worked, but from my experience and a couple of others online i have concerns on the thrustmaster tx build quality.
If you turn the wheel all the way to lock at full speed in Forza 5, will the front tires turn to lock and skid like in real life or does it just turn inside what it thinks it can handle, like the cheaper spider wheel?
Thanks for the video, because of this I made up my mind on weather to buy the 458 or this one and I think I’m going to go with this on for my Xbox one and iracing.
I have the Edison glass desk (L shape) and have ordered this setup. I don't have much in the way of extra cash for awhile, is there any way to properly secure on the desk?
Thanks for the review guys.As i currently have a T500rs and am really interested in this cause of the smoother feel and the smaller footprint could you please make a small comparison drifting video using Assetto Corsa?I know thats a lot to ask but it would help me a lot.
How easy does it mount to a regular table or desk? Would you be able to show in a video sometime. It says in the description that it is compatible with all desks and tables. I am just worried it might not mount correctly.
I would have liked more detail on the 3 pedal set, such as how does the conical rubber thingummy feel. Is it better than t500 with BB mod? Will you review those separately?
Thrustmaster Tmx Pro or TX? I'm leaning towards the Pro just for teh fact I would have to buy 3 pedal setup with the TX vs the Pro get the nice 3 peddle. What do you think?
I am thinking about buying this wheel but I have seen numerous reviews of this week burning out after just a month. How often have you heard this on your forums and what do you think? I know there have been many others who have had great luck with the wheel with tons of hours of game time but since you run high end simulator setups and use them all the time what is your overall opinion and what have you seen the community's opinion to be on the reliability of the wheel? I have also seen videos over mods for the wheel to place bigger fans on the wheel to keep it cool. Is overheating an issue?
How much wattage is necessary for use? I live in Australia and I need a voltage step-down transformer (220-110) but I don't know what wattage I need? Anyone know? Thx
One thing you didn't mention Darin, the fan seems quite active on the new TX compared with the T500 ? even on moderate FFB settings ? and it is noisy compared to my V3 T500 when that fan is going.
Hey Darin, totally appreciate your reviews on these peripherals and games. I was interested if you've got an opinion on how the TX wheel compares, functionality and feel wise, against the Fanatec CSB V2.
Would the TX wheel be suitable for use with the Playseat challenge? Have you heard if they are doing a Stand alone TX Base or in any other rims and pedal packages?
I am about to buy between the Thrustmaster F430 and the Thrustmaster RGT Force Feedback Pro clutch edition. I have 1 final question: Can I use the T3PA pedals from thrustmaster with the F430 wheel? Thanks very much in advance. I see almost all of your videos and appreciate very much your reviews. Great work!
Patexon I checked with Thrustmaster and no, you can't use the T3PA pedals with that generation of wheels. It only works with the T500, T300 and TX wheel bases.
I have an Xbox One. I also have a Fanatec CSR, Clubsport Pedals, and the CSR Shifter. Is it worth getting rid of the wheel for the TX1 or wait for Fanatec's New wheel? I know they are working on a wheel that will work with all systems and all the old peripherals. You guys have any thoughts? Nice video. Don't really trust Thrustmaster after the 458 Bungie Wheel. Thanks guys!
I play with this wheel in pc games but i dont know how to change the mode pc to mode xbox to play to the games of game pass pc like forza horizon 5, ¿how can i change the mode to xbox controller? Thx
I just wish it came with a clamp like the old 360 wheel had, because I built a stand for that one. And don't want to pay extra for a stand for the TX. Can I just use a screw to attach it to the stand I made? If so does anyone know what diameter it would need to be?
I would also like to thank you for this review, as well as the Xbox One Mad Catz wheel review, as watching them made me decide in favor of this wheel. I just ordered it with the GTE wheel addon in a bundle and I'm looking forward to playing Forza 5 with it!
Im looking to get into sim racing on the ps4 for youtube soon but i dont have any money to get the wheel and stuff u guys should do a some giveaways to help out the people that cant afford setups
Wow, one of the few positive reviews of this wheel. I've seen a lot of people with a broken Thrustmaster TX online, maybe because it was just the first batch? Anyway, the Wheel itself and the pedals really are not good enough. The main unit with the FFB seems nice, but how much better is it really compared to a T500RS? Probably not THAT much of a difference to replace it. If I want a real upgrade I'll change my T500RS with an Accuforce Wheel later, although that would of course be in another price category. If you have an Xbone, well there is not much of a choice.
The TX doesn't have an all around better ffb than the T500rs. The wheel is smoother to turn and has similar detail in its ffb but that's about it. Everything else from reaction time with heavier rims to ffb strenght is better on the T500. I really don't get why Darin isn't even mentioning the extreme lack of force and speed compared to the T500rs Feedback but instead praising it as "strong".... I would wait for Fanatecs new product or the Accuforce if its price isn't what I think it will be (over 1000). I would currently rate the mass market wheels as following regarding wheel quality: 1) Fanatec CSW, by far the smoothest and with the F1 Rim quickest to react. Feels absolutely elegant and "real" (compared to its competition in the sub-1000 bucks range.) Feedback is extremely strong, inaudible without fan. Best detail in FFB with F1 or modded lighter rims. Best build quality. Reliability issues seem to be resolved since 2013. Only 2 Rims and its high price even after all this time and with new competition incomming makes it a little risky though and it might lose in Rank pretty soon. Fanatec definitely has to do something. 2) T500rs: Smooth but definitely not as smooth as the CSW. Audible but still a far cry from the terrible saws from old days (G27 etc, even GT3 RS was much noisier). Fastest FFB by far in that price range. Very Quick to react. Extremely strong FFB. Very detailed in FFB. Slightly more toy like feel though regarding build quality and overall FFB but it's not a 200-300$ difference to the csw as the price tag might suggests. (FFB) 3)TX: Smoother than T500rs, in fact the second smoothest after the CSW, horrible stock rim. ( I dislike the addon rims from the T500rs for lacking quality already but this is FAR worse, at least the T500 rims feel like solid products), far slower in ffb which destroys it for me in terms of being the t500's successor. Catching the car and drifting is still possible but neither comparable to the t500 nor the CSW. FFB about 30% stronger than the CSR and 40% less than the t500rs. About the same details in FFB than the t500rs though they seem a little cleaner probably due to its slightly smoother feel. 4) CSR, GT3 RS V2, GT2 5)G27 ...
Can you confirm if this wheel has had any of the problems that are widely reported from it? Lots of bad reviews on Amazon saying it has stopped working.
+Robert Bilodeau I just got it, I absolutely Love it. Although the Wheel it comes with is pretty bad. But just buy a GTE/F1 wheel addon and you'll have an amazing setup. I personally don't bother getting a 3 pedal with clutch addon. Because I enjoy F1 cars, and F1 cars in real life have an automatic clutch. I've heard the motor itself though, just the force feedback part is the most realistic feeling of any wheel so far. So that's what your paying for. Ive used the logitech g27 before. It's nice but the force feedback on the TX Italia is just so much better. It's amazing. At the end of the day though, All those faulty ones with issues were reported a long time ago. People Care alot more about reporting a bad experience than they care about reporting a good one. Not to mention all the 1 star reviews just for getting a DOA. That's just unfair. Also, the customer support has always been great with thrustmaster, Don't believe those people claiming it's shit.
+Nick Booth Can you point me to where you heard that from. I was really excited to pick this up but the reviews spooked me. I just wanna make sure you know
+Joshua Castillo I think all of those issues have been resolved by firmware updates. I've had it for over a year and it's worked fine with Forza 6 and Project cars with heavy FFB. Just make sure to get the firmware update from their website before you start playing with it
i bought an tx 5 months ago. i loved it. so accurate, but it litterly just stopt working 2 weeks ago. so i send it back to the webshop i got it from, and it was indeed confirmed by them that it was broken beyond repair.. now ordered a t500rs with the warranty and ofc a bit extra, i heard they are reliable as an old benz . tx and t300 have big overheating problems
Hey Darin or anyone else that has the TX or T500RS. Can someone please help me? I bought the TX wheel used off of Amazon (it came upgraded with the newest firmware and was tested and guaranteed to work) I got it almost two weeks ago and only used it with Forza 5. It worked fine, all of the buttons functioned, the force feedback worked smoothly and no overheating or anything at 100% FFB. I was using it for hours for a few days and absolutely no trouble. The last I used it was Monday and it was fine. I just got a Playseat Challenge today and went from using the clamp on a folding table to mounting it on the Playseat. Now it won't do anything when plugged in (even on PC) I kept trying and it will light up for about a second and the wheel will struggle to turn a few degrees and it shuts off. I have no clue what happened. I had trouble getting the clamp back off the table (because it was a folding table it wasn't flush against the surface and for whatever reason the screw wouldn't turn) so I slid it off and end up breaking the rubber feet on the clamp end (but I was only putting pressure on the table and the clamp, not the wheel. I went to get M6 bolts to mount it that way on the Playseat instead of the table and I removed the rim and brought it with me (which was a good idea because the guy had no clue what M6 bots were) but I don't see how having it upside down and carrying it could have done any damage considering how much it was probably shaken during shipping. My only other theory is the length of the M6 bolts which were 19mm, the manual says maximum of 12mm but I tested them gently by hand and they didn't touch anything. Not to mention when mounted to the rig the wheel plate removes 4 more mm so it's down to 15mm and I really don't see how 3mm over could have hurt it. Especially considering the Playseat came with the exact same length M6 bolts and Playseat even says the Challenge is compatible with the TX so those screws couldn't have been too long. Especially condidering Darin tested it with a T500RS which has the same patter and he probably used the same length screws and if anything the T500RS has to be more full inside than the TX and in his testing nothing shorted out or anything. I contacted Thrustmaster to see if they have any advice and the seller told me they would refund me so I can either get a refund (or maybe exchanged for another one if they have more) because I'd imagine Thrustmaster will charge me to have it fixed. My main question is did I just end up having a defective wheel or was it something I did considering it always worked fine while in use until today when I tried mounting it into the Playseat (because if I get another I don't want to have the same thing happen if I somehow caused it.) Sorry for this being so long but I'm really bummed and hope someone will read it and hopefully knows what happened. Thanks.
Mr Everything It's possible that those M6 bolts were too long.. Before I got to that point in your post, I was wondering the length you used. You could have pinched or severed a wire within the base.
Inside Sim Racing Thank you for the reply! It is possible but considering with the wheel plate it would have only went 15mm deep in the wheel and I asked others with the same playseat and their bolts were the same length and their's worked. I'm going to get someone to cut mine down though for next time down to 12mm total. I contacted Thrustmaster but I've only gotten one reply so far and it didn't help. I've tried resetting the Xbox, connecting to the PC to update the firmware (even when I first got it and it worked on my Xbox I could never get it to recognize on my Windows 7 computer or have it show up on the firmware updater.) It seems a lot of people had this issue and the lack of self-calibration is a firmware/software problem not a hardware one, I looked as closely as I could down in those holes and didn't see anything it could have touched. However when I had it clamped to the table and it wouldn't come off and I had to slide the wheel off and put all that pressure on it I did notice the big thick screw didn't flex but that whole metal bracket the screw goes though inside the wheel does slide around allowing the screw to move a bit and I did see a few metal scrapes on whatever they have near that hole (the looked like scratches from a few screw threads.) I'm trying to get a better look in there to see if I scratched the circut board (which probably would mess stuff up) or maybe it was just metal or plastic which might not cause the wheel to malfunction, especially since many others had this same problem and didn't do stuff with the clamps. I have one last question though I hope you can answer. I bought the wheel used on Amazon (the seller said they'd refund me and pay return shipping if it was defective) so I might go that route but Thrustmaster wanted the Invoice and picture of the serial number so even though it is used since the wheel hasn't even been out a year and they all have a 1 year warranty do you know if they would still honor it (I know support wise they will help for free) but as far as replacing it goes. I read some people say they immediately send out a new base and that fixes the problem. I'd assume I'd have to send the old base back which wouldn't be a problem assuming the new one works. but would I need to pay anything for the new one and shipping either way on both bases? I hope you can answer those questions since you've probably dealt with them before and might know what they would do in this situation. Thank you very much for the help!
Inside Sim Racing Just in case anyone reads this I'll finish describing my experience in case someone else comes here with the same problem maybe this will help them. Turns out the screws weren't the problem at all (my dad used a light on a tube (what you shove in those tight spaces in an engine) and there wasn't anything near the full possible length of those M6 bolts. Most of Thrustmaster's help was useless however I was finally able to get the wheel into a bootloader and it finally recognized on my PC and I was able to update the firmware to V47 and it finally fully self calibrated again. I thought I had finally fixed it but then I unplugged it, plugged it into my Xbox and it calibrated correctly but then shut off and that was the same deal with the PC and it was no longer recognized. (The problem isn't my Xbox either because I tried the resetting and everything and other USB devices work fine on it.) Occasionally my PC will recognize the wheel but then after a few minutes it'll shut off and if I unplug and plug it back it will only calibrate and shut off. The wheel just doesn't seem reliable and it's not worth dealing with Thrustmaster even if I could get another base considering it might do the same and I'd probably get stuck paying all the shipping for the bases both ways. The seller on Amazon is offering me a full refund with shipping included so I'm going to play it safe and get a new G27. Hopefully GT6 will keep me happy considering how much I loved Forza 5 and the smooth and preciseness of the TX's brush-less motor. Maybe my PC can run sims at a decent level if Gran Turismo won't cut it for me. I hope if anyone else has this problem you'll know almost certainly it isn't from anything you did, it's a common problem with this wheel and if you can't fix it with all the methods through the PC and updating the firmware you'll have to be ok with going through Thrustmaster and getting a replacement or getting a refund from wherever you bought it. Thanks again Darin for your advise.
Mr Everything I'm not currently having a problem with mine but I really, really, really appreciate when people like you post the results for other people who may come months down the road. Keep being awesome.
Hey guys I got the Ferrari 458 spider racing wheel for the xbox one and it keeps doing this thing when I leave the wheel straight it turns right it has happened on two different wheels now would you know what the problem is
New TX owner here, long-time owner of a G25. Got this wheel for a repair project, turned out to be a simple fix (no power coming in from the USB cable, that's been fixed - wheel also has a temporary mod for an external power brick since I'm missing the power cable), but now that I've gotten a bit of time using the TX, something about the wheel rubs me the wrong way. Is it normal, when there's no force feedback, for the TX to feel notchy? Every gear-driven wheel I've used (all Logitech - WingMan Formula Force GP and G25) all feel smooth and have very noisy force feedback, but with the TX, I can feel the cogs in the gears. Is this normal? I should point out the power supply I'm using doesn't quite provide enough voltage, so that might have something to do with it (I'm using a 19V power supply from my old Toshiba laptop). I must give Thrustmaster props for the force feedback. It's got power and it makes so much less noise than my G25. It's just that notchiness when the wheel has no force feedback going that gets to me, and I'm not sure if that's a defect or something normal with a belt-driven wheel (I've never used a belt-driven wheel before, so I don't really know if this is normal or not). By the way, that notchiness doesn't happen when the power supply is unplugged from the wheel.
+Despiser Despised I know it uses a belt drive, but it seriously feels notchy (only when powered, though - if I don't apply power to the wheel, it's very smooth). I do think it's because this TX was a supposed store return that never worked due to receiving no power from the 5V line on the USB connector (this was down to a broken ferrite), so it might just need to be broken in. I don't know, I've never used a belt-driven wheel prior to getting the TX. I will say, I much prefer the TX over the G25 I've been using for many years (it's just too damn loud, and this has been my number one complaint about Logitech's force feedback wheels - granted, I've never used a G27 or G29, but at least the straight-cut gears in the G25, Driving Force GT and the like are too noisy for my liking). It's just I'm not sure if a notchy feel on the wheel is normal or not for the first couple of uses. It does feel less notchy now, but I like I said, I have zero experience with belt-driven wheels prior to this so I want to make sure it's normal.
Hi guyz ! i would like to know if you have the same bad sensation as me with the rendering of the belt (i think). it's like I felt light rubber notches when I slowly turn the wheel; like i felt each tooth of the belt; it's pretty embarrassing during nascar races. is it normal ? It's the same on T300RS ? Thank you !
Hmm.. Beginning of your video with the wheel self calibrating when u turn it on... Everytime my tx does that it ends up upside down but yours the right way up...... Any idea why this is?
Excellent video, liked and subscribed. Is there any new and better wheel/pedal package for the XB1 since you did this review and is there anything coming up that you know of as I would rather hold off buying if something better is available or just around the corner ( for Forza 6 ). Cheers.
Kevin Kleijn I would say this is the best at this price point and then you have the option of the Fanatec CSW V2 with XBox One hub. That setup with pedals will run you about $1200 though
Thanks for that. What you say about the pedals puts me off a bit. No inside news on a new wheel with clutch to coincide with the release of Forza 6 later in the year?
Hey Darin, before I proceed, excellent review. Despite some really negative reviews on Amazon, I am so desperate to play Forza 5 and Forza Horizon 2 "properly" that I will take the chance (and I've never owned a racing wheel, should be fun!). My question is, it's been almost a year since the Xbox One console came out, is there a new and improved product coming out in the foreseeable future that I should wait for? or should I just hurry up and buy this. Because of the price, I'm only giving one shot at this. Thank you so much.
If I had the money, for PC I would go with this base, the Ferrari GT-E rim, Clubsport Elite pedals with the inversion and DSD Tilton pedals, and a DSD shifter (maybe a Fanatec SQ) and some sort of button box setup. I would like to see more wheels like this that are between the CSR and T500RS level now that the CSR elite wheel is discontinued, but as a full Wheel/pedal/shifter combo for $500. Logy G29 might be an answer if they make it.
I have a question: Why do so many decent wheels not support the 360? It had a MANY great driving titles! Bonus points for not having a your intro clip be a 30 to 50 second vanity reel like sofa king many youtubers! :D
So from what I've gathered this wheel feels amazing and the feedback is great. My only concern are the pedals. I'll need clutch, it's just a must have. How much is the other pedal set that you've mentioned (T3PBA?)?
From what I've read on the iracing forums, this wheel should have about 30 to 40% less powerful FFB than the T500. According to your review, you didn't notice any lack of power? Or did you just crank the ingame FFB up? I'm really interested in this wheel as a current Clubsport owner, although I don't wanna lose any of the force the CSW provides.
I agree I have it at works and it way less powerfull, but also it have less friction and no cogging. Overall it's still feel less powerfull thatn the T500
You're right, however, I'm basically using 15 degrees of FFB in iracing with the CSW; everything above that is just too powerful for me. So if you crank this up to just below the clipping line with the TX, could it give you similar forces as the CSW or the T500?
Dominik Batz I don't have iRacing anymore,I remember iRacing ahs been always I nightmare to really know if FFB is clipping. I don't know how much less the TX is compare to T500. But adding clipping is always bad, clipping is that make FFB feel bad in sims. I have a custom wheel 14Nm ( T500 is 5Nm in comparison ), so I can't advice you to increase clipping has it always result in worse FFB feeling.
Verry nice video, i have a question. For a beginer in this thing what you reccomand for pc, this one or the g27.In my country (Italy) it has the same price.Btw can you allso reccomand something cheaper that has kinda the same feeling as this 2 combos.I am kinda on a thinght budget and this ones costs 255€ on amazon .Thank you verry much. You got a new sub.
Do you have any recommended settings for sensitivity or force feedback for the tx wheel on xbox 1. I've been using mine a few weeks now and it is almost impossible to recover once the ass end of the car kicks out which is making it less than realistic for me.Thanks
inside sim racing i'd like to know if the steering wheel returns to the center (as in a real car) when you're in a straight line after you turn it left o right without wobble effect as my g25 and gt3rs do.thanks ciao!
Never owned a wheel before. I picked up a Logitech G920 for playing F1 '15 for XB1. I played with ALL the games settings, but two things I don't like about G920... the wheel doesn't want to go back to center like in an actual car, and as you rock the wheel off of center, you feel the mechanism starting to add "weight". It doesn't feel natural. Again, I played with all the settings, and no combination seemed to fix these issues. How does the TM TX 458 do in those areas? Can you feel the mechanism or does it feel natural? Does the mechanism bring the wheel back to center? Thanks!
Will the tx base mount to the end of a table with having to bolt it down? My wheel on 360 was the Microsoft wheel that had the clamp that allowed it to fit to the end of my computer desk.
mindofmyown333 Yeah, it does. The clamp part is a little bulky, which would only cause issues if you have a keyboard drawer below. Have this wheel and love it, but I want the T3PA Pro pedals now.
dankpelt doing research to help friends get in to sim racing and stumbled upon my old comment! Just wanted to say you were absolutely right! Nearly 5 years later and everything I purchased is still helping me rip around the tracks!
Hello friends, first of all congratulate you on these spectacular videos. My question is if the TX wheel works on the basis of T500RS. A greeting and thanks! PS: sorry for my English, I use a translator.
Inside Sim Racing I want to know why every stupid channel dont show seting up the wheel !!! you are being paid for this the quick release system to put the wheel in the base sucks !!! theres no hole for the screw its just the screw hiting the plastic i was disapointed with this.
Can someone help me. I've never played pc games before but decided to buy dirt 3 for it. Had it on 360 and I missed it.. It was a pain in the ass to install. Pretty much took me all day to find out how to install it. I plugged in my Thrustmaster TX wheel, didn't work, did some googling, installed all of the firmware and what not, still not working. I'm at like level 98 out of 100 frustration level. I didn't have to work today so I thought Id play dirt since it got here today from amazon. Guess not.
is it possible to attach some aftermarket steering wheel like some momo drifting. I saw Chilicoke made mod like this to G27/25, can something like this be preformed in it?
I want to get the Thrustmaster TX 1 cause it has gear sticks which I want if there a better and upgraded versions of this with gearsticks please reply!? Thanks!
Really good review! I have a few questions though, maybe some TX wheel owner can answer them. I'm planning to buy this wheel to play Forza 5 and Assetto Corsa. Does shifting with the paddle shifters also work with cars, that have a manual gearbox? Or do I have to get the H shifter, not sure. Also how is the configuration on the pc, like I don't see a preset for the TX wheel in Assetto Corsa for example, I know it's still an early access.
shifting with the paddles works with all cars. the shifters have the same functions as the two buttons on the pad if you drive with pad. Regarding Assetto Corsa, i can confirm, that the TX wheel is working perferctly on PC.
Thanks for this video guys, just a stellar review as always. I'm just about ready to pick one of these up.... but... I have seen a bunch of negative reviews on Amazon, mostly knocking the wheels build quality and overall durability. While I usually attribute those kind of scathing reviews to people who just don't know how to take care of their stuff, but I wanted to ask if you guys have had any issues with yours? Thanks!
Ken Rodbender We haven't.. Our TX wheels are still going strong. We use them frequently too. Seems there was an early batch of wheels that had issues but Thrustmaster has made some adjustments and or fine tuned the production to alleviate the problems.
See my post above. I just bought a brand new TX (came preloaded with the latest v47 firmware from July) that failed after 30 seconds. Thrustmaster certainly has not corrected the reliability/quality issues with the TX. Buyer beware!
Can this wheel be compatible with there TH8A shifter? I am planning on a budget build and im honestly interested to start with this wheel and later get the shifter and pedals ;o
Bought the TX base with the 599xx Alcantara wheel and VG T3PA pedals. Can't wait to try it out and this review makes me even more excited! Nice review. Subscribed!
Great review! It transitioned smoothly from point to point, and covered everything without wasting time. Certainly a wheel to lust after.
It'd be cheaper if you don't have to pay for Ferrari badge. Can't they just make a wheel without Ferrari license?
they will in the future with the same rim as the one on the wheels they had at E3
I know right, kinda lame to have a baby Ferrari badged wheel @ a premium price
Great review, convinced me, will be buying one of these this december and upgrading the pedals at a later date!
Inside Sim Racing Is it possible to use this on xbox 360?
im getting mines today !!
It's a very good wheel for it's price. I enjoy it every moment with my X-Motor Racing Pro.
7 years on, is it still working?
Not sure how many years mine is because I bought it second hand but it seems like it took a lot of abuse and it’s still going strong
Great review, been looking to upgrade from the 458 spider wheel from thrustmaster and am looking at this specific wheel to use on both pc and xbox
it s nice that they have adds ons if you could find them anywhere i havent found one store there sell the add on pedals or shifter.
and 1 little thing you dont say that you have to update the firmware before you can use it on the xbox why shut that be, on pc i understand but on xbox that is made for, it shut be done aotu when connectet to xbox
Inside Sim Racing This wheel is incredibly expensive in Australia ($699 at jbhifi). Have you tried the cheaper TM wheel for xbox one? Of course it won't be as good but is it at least as good as the old M$ wheel?
Ordered mine last night. So excited to play Forza 5 and Horizon 2 with it :P
Limited room space (and ocd girlfriend with limited patience for clutter!)
You're coverage of Horizon 2 is also the reason I decided to get it at launch, should be real fun and something else to use my wheel for! I may get into PC sims at some stage but only have a dated laptop for now so no go :'(
I'll stop rambling but to finish just wanedt to say you guys do a really great job! Really enjoy these videos and you are very genuine, informative and clearly love what your doing, so many tryhards and elitists in gaming "media" these days. Going to check the forums also but just wanted to say thanks. so... THANKS :)
Great review :) I assume the T500RS is still a bit better than the TX/T300 or(especially the Pedals..)? The T500RS is a bit cheaper here in Germany...
HertzBlut THanks for watching and yes you can use the T500 pedals with this wheel
Inside Sim Racing Well thank you very much then. I think I will grab this Italia edition instead of fiddling with third party hardware to get my T500RS running on Xbox One. Thank you for the quick reply
As of today... 10/16.. what the best wheel/pedal combo for PC in the $500-$600 range in your opinion?
So it still doesn't work with the X360... And on that note would the G27 _finally_ work on the Xbone?
Good review from the Thrustmaster show.
Thanks for the review guys.As i currently have a T500rs and am really interested in this cause of the smoother feel and the smaller footprint could you please make a small comparison drifting video using Assetto Corsa?I know thats a lot to ask but it would help me a lot.
for some reason the wheel is not connecting to PC with the installed driver.
tx or t300? i play specially on pc...but i do have the xbox one and will be buying the ps4
I've got the same question, but based on all the reviews I've seen I think the TX is slightly better than the T300 :)
Go with the T300, you get 1080 degrees of rotation compared to 900 in the TX
900 is fine. I never got over 720 degrees. So idk Why you wnat 1000 degrees
Does the base have clamps, or something to put on a desk like the G27? I don't want to have to buy a wheelstand.
How easy does it mount to a regular table or desk? Would you be able to show in a video sometime. It says in the description that it is compatible with all desks and tables. I am just worried it might not mount correctly.
Seriously, Thrustmaster should sell the wheel base separately. Possible or not?
RedfoxQc Ôh yeah! Thrustmaster did finally! See "TX Racing Wheel Servo Base".
I Love You Thrustmaster
I endorse this message, lovin' this wheel. despite the crappy standard wheel
Thx
I know it's a stupid question but.... can you use logitech g25/g27 pedals with this wheel? I only ask cause the adapter looked similar
One thing you didn't mention Darin, the fan seems quite active on the new TX compared with the T500 ? even on moderate FFB settings ? and it is noisy compared to my V3 T500 when that fan is going.
I have the tx leather edition..any advice on setting it up properly to driving?
Hey Darin, totally appreciate your reviews on these peripherals and games. I was interested if you've got an opinion on how the TX wheel compares, functionality and feel wise, against the Fanatec CSB V2.
Would the TX wheel be suitable for use with the Playseat challenge? Have you heard if they are doing a Stand alone TX Base or in any other rims and pedal packages?
Michael Staneland Yes it would be. I haven't heard if they will do that.
I am about to buy between the Thrustmaster F430 and the Thrustmaster RGT Force Feedback Pro clutch edition. I have 1 final question:
Can I use the T3PA pedals from thrustmaster with the F430 wheel?
@Kristoffer Edwards I second this, the pedals are out now but what's up with the shifter? Is the Rs compatible or not? When will the th8a be available
great review, really helped me to understand the differences with what you get you. gained a subscriber
Ben Rigden Thanks !
MikelMovies My pleasure ! I'm sure you'll enjoy the combo !
@@simracingtonight just asking, does this work on Ps4?
Im looking to get into sim racing on the ps4 for youtube soon but i dont have any money to get the wheel and stuff u guys should do a some giveaways to help out the people that cant afford setups
1:00 his eyes 😂😂
I would currently rate the mass market wheels as following regarding wheel quality:
1) Fanatec CSW, by far the smoothest and with the F1 Rim quickest to react.
(FFB)
3)TX: Smoother than T500rs, in fact the second smoothest after the CSW, horrible stock rim.
4) CSR, GT3 RS V2, GT2
5)G27
...
Pascal Vdwal yes,due to it being brush less.
Any idea why this is?
whiplash1111 you have to take off the wheel and flip it right side up or re-calibrate it.
I wonder one thing, many months ago you praised the Fanatec CSW in your reivew but I have never seen you guys using it at all in any video.
Probably broken in the corner :(
Is it possible if I have the right bracket to use a off market steering wheel
Like a real momo or omp steering wheel
i just bought the f458 italia and loads of people say its compatible with the 360 also is it compatible with f1 2013
Face Time Agency Not that I know of and my TX bases are running great ! Worst case you get a lemon, return it.
Is it possible to get this Thrustmaster wheel with the F1 wheel only (for xbox one)?
:D
Can i put an aftermarket rim on the tx 458 such as morfo wheel
Where can I get that F1- style rev counter lights/ gear indicator like the one you have attached on top of the wheel?
smoceskreen It's a Sim Instruments Dash.. One of, if not the best one I've had.
Inside Sim Racing which is better?
Great video!
Anyone knows what brushless motor is used in this wheel, or some other spec like RPM, torque or wattage?
So from what I've gathered this wheel feels amazing and the feedback is great. My only concern are the pedals. I'll need clutch, it's just a must have. How much is the other pedal set that you've mentioned (T3PBA?)?
There is the t3pa and t3pa pro, 100 and 150 respectivley
+King Gado if you get the thrustmaster tx leather edition, you will get the t3pa pedals with it. its a sweet combo:D
Thanks Séb! So could you overcome this by just turning the FFB up in the Simulator?
Dominik Batz The TX is physically less powefull that the T500 I don't see how you could overpass hardware with software :D
I've been using mine a few weeks now and it is almost impossible to recover once the ass end of the car kicks out which is making it less than realistic for me.Thanks
can you make a diy on the buttonbox and ho do we use a real car rim on forza....
Does this come with brackets for mounting to a desk?
Can you use the clutch with the Ferrari 458 spider
inside sim racing i'd like to know if the steering wheel returns to the center (as in a real car) when you're in a straight line after you turn it left o right without wobble effect as my g25 and gt3rs do.thanks
ciao!
yes and i think they call it forcefeedback
Never owned a wheel before. I picked up a Logitech G920 for playing F1 '15 for XB1. I played with ALL the games settings, but two things I don't like about G920... the wheel doesn't want to go back to center like in an actual car, and as you rock the wheel off of center, you feel the mechanism starting to add "weight". It doesn't feel natural. Again, I played with all the settings, and no combination seemed to fix these issues. How does the TM TX 458 do in those areas? Can you feel the mechanism or does it feel natural? Does the mechanism bring the wheel back to center? Thanks!
+Jim Banville The TX feels more natural
I got the TM TX 458 Italia. MUCH MUCH better!
Please do you have a link you can put in my comment so I can buy the other racing wheel attachments please thank you
Will the tx base mount to the end of a table with having to bolt it down? My wheel on 360 was the Microsoft wheel that had the clamp that allowed it to fit to the end of my computer desk.
mindofmyown333 Yeah, it does. The clamp part is a little bulky, which would only cause issues if you have a keyboard drawer below. Have this wheel and love it, but I want the T3PA Pro pedals now.
Great, thank you! I can't wait for mine to come in. I ordered the Tx 458 wheel and base, T3PA pedals and the TH8A shifter. Goodbye social life
mindofmyown333 You will enjoy! :)
dankpelt doing research to help friends get in to sim racing and stumbled upon my old comment! Just wanted to say you were absolutely right! Nearly 5 years later and everything I purchased is still helping me rip around the tracks!
Hi guyz.
After 2 month, i always feel the belt teeth. it's particularly troublesome in the oval race. Is it normal... ?
Thank you !
Hello friends, first of all congratulate you on these spectacular videos.
My question is if the TX wheel works on the basis of T500RS.
A greeting and thanks!
PS: sorry for my English, I use a translator.
Leonardo Daniel Rodriguez Thanks for watching and yes the TX rim will work on the T500
Guess not.
Call thrustmasters support thing
carl shneebly I think you need to set it up
Can you add the f1 Ferrari rim onto the base and use it as the actual wheel?
is it possible to attach some aftermarket steering wheel like some momo drifting. I saw Chilicoke made mod like this to G27/25, can something like this be preformed in it?
Ярослав Немирович yes, they sell an adapter for this sole purpose.
Is it really worth it for $330? Or should I get the spider for $99 without force feedback?
My next wheel for sure :) Also thinking to buy CS pedals for it.
I want to get the Thrustmaster TX 1 cause it has gear sticks which I want if there a better and upgraded versions of this with gearsticks please reply!?
Thanks!
Ever since the updates The wheel just does 180 degree spins connected to xbox one nothing seems to fix it :(
Really good review!
Can you use a thrustmaster wheel with fanatec pedals
Hi i just bought this! But how do i adjust the sensitivity on the wheel????
Its on xbox, not pc
Awesome to hear, really appreciate you getting back to me. Now to convince my wife...
See my post above. I just bought a brand new TX (came preloaded with the latest v47 firmware from July) that failed after 30 seconds. Thrustmaster certainly has not corrected the reliability/quality issues with the TX. Buyer beware!
Finally a wheel that works with both PC and XBone, anyone know if it's possible to have the wheel work with the old pedals from a G25/27?
I can’t choose between the T300, T500, and TX.
What do you advise?
Where can I find an Ac
adapter. Power supply to wasll For TX base?
Can this wheel be compatible with there TH8A shifter? I am planning on a budget build and im honestly interested to start with this wheel and later get the shifter and pedals ;o
comodohalo yes
Awesome! Thank you for the review :D
