Sure, you could go skiing in Switzerland, play golf in Scotland or sail and fish off the coast of Mexico. But it's all right here. In Duluth. Who loves ya, baby? www.visitduluth.com
OK, let's settle some of the BS flying around here. Telly Savalas married Julie Hovland, a woman from Duluth. That may or may not be her in this commercial. She was his third wife and eventually his widow. Their daughter, jazz singer Ariana Savalas, described them as inseparable for 18 years. He did this commercial for free; he and Julie often visited Duluth, where she still has family connections. Telly was often spotted in Duluth, golfing at the Northland Country Club or dining with Julie at the Chinese Lantern, their favorite restaurant (since destroyed by a fire,) among other locations.
Thanks for this! I knew this, but not as many details so I'm glad you set the record straight. An aside: they were both at the Ski Hut one time, in fur coat doing a classic celebrity "I'll take one of those, and two of those..." while clerks scampered around. I was there, too, and I accidentally hit him in the arm with my (used) ski boots. He looked down and scowled at me. I was probably...9?
Its Thursday March 7th 2019 And I wish Actor #TellySavalas was still around. He was the life of the Party it seemed; but, I know that he is, in a different world Now Dave Minnesota
Duluth should start using this commercial again now that the city is seeing genuine growth for the first time in decades after a Harvard researcher said it would be a refuge from climate change + pandemic shifts in work.
Having been born and raised in Thunder Bay, ON. Canada, often in my late teens and early 20s, I would frequent Duluth. Shopping was great. People and services were fantastic. And, the girls were very friendly and nice. :). Many good times. Thank you, Duluth. USA

@CelticVictory Duluth sells itself. I was born and raised here, and sure, I want to get out and explore this world.... But Duluth will be where I come to die. Love this city.
@@CelticVictory but i feel that this commercial with Telly is different. Unlike in my country, it is so obvious when someone is paid and not totally willing to do commercial like this.
@@justbeingplasma8681 Telly was a professional actor. He got paid a lot of money to pretend to feel something he didn't. And he was good at it. You can actually watch a Kimmel sketch where Jennifer Aniston pretended to be offended by the writing in the sketch. Her performance was so good that viewers wrote into the show complaining about how he treated her. Yes, emotions can be faked.
That smile at the end from Telly could melt the coldest of hearts.
RIP Μεγάλε.

Correctly stated..and yes..I believe that is her.
Yes!
Only a true master like Telly could say "Its all right here in Duluth" with a straight face.
Anyone can say it if you pay them, I'll say
"SOMALIA IS A WONDERFUL BEAUTIFUL PARADISE"
if I was paid £200

Who do you know in this room right now?
Never knew I needed to see Duluth until Mr Savalas told me…
HA!!! The woman at the end. 👋
Something tells me Telly was really bad with his money...
He did gamble, used to see him at my work in Vegas
@@gma56 but he was frugal, after all...he always used his Players Club Card baby!
@@jacksnyder9890 he always had to ask the boss if he had credit; she was never impressed, would tell him I'll see
I was in Duluth overnight and was pleasantly surprised how nice the city was. Perhaps he was right.

Why didn't he ever play Lex Luthor?
I love Telly Savalas but even he couldn't sell Duluth to me.
TOO RASICT TOWN THESE DAYS
PEOPLE ARE MORONS
What year was this shot? (As in, how long was it after the grisly double murder in that house in 1977?)
1984. I was living in Duluth when this was running on the tube. The story, as I recall it was that Telly had a ladyfriend from Duluth.
@aolson100 I enjoyed how she awkwardly waved at the camera.
I know someone is going to hit me for this, but I have to make this pun.
HEY, IT'S TELLY ON THE TELLY! *hit by a brick*

I was just about to say the same. I went to Lakehead so we'd goto Duluth often. Loved that place.

Duluth is great! One of the most unique places in the country. Huge hills with long 30% grades and a lake the size of Kentucky!
And an economic depression the size of the Grand Canyon.
The original bald dude, who made a fashion statement, bald is cool, sexy, bald Is beautiful during a time when long hair ruled American culture
Randomly came upon this. Who loves ya, baby?
Duluth…hey, we’re not Cleveland or Detroit, baby!
Hey, Telly says it, you believe it.
@Fretdemonxxx Duluth is the city where people are dead before they stop breathing. There is nothing to love about this city.
EXACTLY! DULUTH: WHERE ALL YOUR DREAMS GO TO DIE!
Duluth, MN is that good. trust me. on this. must visit this place!!! most beautiful city, trust me
Are you trolling? If you don't like Telly Savalas, why are you even here?
Who Luv's Ya Baby ? ( T ) 😁😘🥀🙏🥰
@Gigrantula58 Or the fact that it was filmed inside? Lol.

@troybreimon1111 You said trust me way too many times to actually trust you. And Duluth is really blaise.
Yeah, it would be great if you could live in GlenSheen.
@kojakbangbang7 That is insulting to Kojak.
@Fretdemonxxx As soon as you give me the money.
Umm hmmm X
@CelticVictory Then leave.

You can feel the sincerity of Telly here. It's hard to smile on a commercial if it's not true even when you're paid.
It's not hard. It's called acting.

By the looks of it, I'd say '77 or '78.

Duluth is ok except for the miserable winters, lack of decent paying jobs, and persistant masonic corruption that polutes the entire area!!

Cute ad. But the only reason he hawked it is because his wife is from there.
@CelticVictory Nah, I only leave money on the nightstand for when your mom wakes up in the morning.
I know you think this passes for humor. Duluthians are unimaginative this way.
