No doubt this quartet was in a league of their own. Probably the best Cathedral Qt lineup ever. The blend, the harmony, the chemistry...spot on perfect! I attended Glen's funeral and let me tell you, it was a celebration of his love for Jesus! The story they told at his funeral how he sat up in bed and shouted "Wow! Wow!" just seconds before he passed over to his Heavenly home sent chills up and down my spine. What a blessing our Lord gave us when he enriched our lives with this music! Amen!
I ATTENDED Roger's service via Web broadcast at Franklin FBC. So many folks tied in to their server, we tanked it!!! He loved Glen Payne, and named Legacy 5 after the legacy the Cathedrals left. Roger inherited a pair of Glen's leather wingtips, that were cleaned up, and polished, and gifted him by Glen's wife. Thus the legacy was carried forward.
I think I'll take a still of 3:34 and make a poster out of it. That's exactly how I want to remember the Cathedral Quartet. This group with Gerald cannot be matched. Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!!!!
True. The "younguns" had respectable cuts though. I hope you've got some more vids to post. I can't tell you how much of a blessing these have been to me.
This was recorded at Gospel Music Appreciation Week in 1987, in Fort Mill South Carolina, it was a Christain Theme Park, that went under in the early 90s, this week featured a lot of Southern Gospel Artist, The Cathedrals,Kingsmen,Inspirations,Greenes,Hoppers,Nelons,Hemphills,WendyBagwelland TheSunlighters,SingingAmericans,GoldCity,FloridaBoys,Perry's,and so many more southern Gospel Artist, I believe this was the place where Jerry Faldwell came in as pastor after the fall of Jim Baker.
Hello friends, someone could send me the letter(lyric) of this music? Sorry .... i not speak English very well. I am Brazilian admirer of the Cathedrals. God bless.
Marcio : these are the lyrics: LYRICS There's a city called Homeland, I can hear you calling me. Oh, my Homeland, Oh, how sweet it's gonna be. Just to see you, And to stand upon your shore. And to know I'll live there, Forever more. You beckoned to my loved ones. And how my tears did flow. And though I tried I could not hide How it hurt to see them go. But now I know they left this world And just moved to a better place, And someday soon you will call me too, And I will see them face to face. It's that city called Homeland, I can here you calling me. Oh, my Homeland. Oh how sweet it's gonna be, Just to see you and to stand upon your shore, And to know I'll live there forevermore! Oh, there's a city called Homeland I can hear you calling me. Oh, my Homeland Oh, how sweet it's gonna be. Just to see you and to stand upon your shore, And know I'll live there forevermore. Oh, there's a city called Homeland I can hear you calling me. Oh, my Homeland. Oh, how sweet it's gonna be. Just to see you, and to stand upon your shore, And know I'll live there forevermore! Just to see our Homeland!!!
That's true. I remember that it took a long time, if ever, for a lot of people to shake the 80's style (ahem, Ivan). I guess people stick with what they like and feel comfortable with.
Ben: In Ivan's case it just might be that he looks so good and so healthy why change it. He is a beautiful man! He sure doesn't look uncomfortable with himself. If you looked like him would you have a problem with self image? nuff said!
Hm... Gerald doesn´t seem to be american... his form of speaking and pronounce during the song, looks like a little bit english, or maybe, he´s canadian... is he really american, or not???
Roger might have sung it better; hower, Gerald is a multi-purpose musician. He can sing all ranges -- even bass -- he can play the piano, he can play the drums and he is funny, I was able to see Gerald in a concert by Greater Vision. He had to play the piano because his wife (who always plays the piano) couldn't make it. So, he had to play the piano, be the frontman and sing.
Geralds' wife never played the piano for Greater Vision. He is a very good pianist and wanted to add a more traditional sound to their group when he started having problems with his voice. Hiring Jon Epley would fill the part he sang.
@@gregkurtz994 Hi Greg, I appreciate your response and you probably know the group personally and better than I. When we had the privilege to see Greater Vision (years ago already), that is was Gerald had said at the beginning of the concert; that his wife was ill and he had to play the piano. There were only three of them at the time and the only piano player would have been Gerald. I believe this was fairly early on as a trio. He still sang but at the piano.
Gerald and Danny contribute so much to this group !
Praise the Lord !!!
Hannah your are right this an awesome video🎶🎶🎶🎶

My grandfather loved this song praise the lord for people that love the lord.
Greater Vision came to my church years ago. Gerald just smiles all the time.
Roger WROTE This tune... Gerald nailed it! ❤

Beautiful words! ❤
My favorite lineup!
Yes, I do love Danny. Thanks for posting this!
On a funny note, the Cats seem to be the only group to go through the 80's without the mullet.

I'm from Morristown TN and so is Gerald. We attended the same high school. Yes, he's American.
Love the song too!! Danny, IMO, was the best tenor they had in all the changes.

1987 I believe ...
Lol ... Yes, I suppose you are right. Of course two of the members didn't have enough hair ...
Hm... Gerald doesn´t seem to be american...

He's from that strange country Tennessee

Roger Bennett does a better job on this song than Gerald Wolfe. I really enjoy the words of this song.
