We had this performance on tape when I was growing up. Hearing that verse as a child I didn't really get it... Now my parents and other precious folks have gone to their homeland it certainly means so much more!

I'm 50 and I grew up watching and listening to the cathedrals. And though I did listen to other groups like Gold City, Kingsnen, Singing Americans, and Happy Goodmans-- just to name a few. As a pastor for 30 yrs, and the son of a pastor-- I've heard all styles, cultures and different genres of music-- and I enjoy country, rnb, soul, blue grass, pop, blues, soft rock, And many different kinds of gospel music. But gospel in particular is what I hear most now-- from contemporary praise n worship, to contemporary rock, gospel blues, gospel country, gospel blue grass, inspirational, black gospel, campmeeting choir songs, and hymns; and even some alternative gospel. So I'm not picky! Lol!!! But, let me just be perfectly clear-- when it comes to just good ole handclapping, toe tapping,, isle running, pew walking, isle shaking, Holy Ghost jerking, or just good ole hot tears streaming down the cheeks, Lol! - Only a few groups come to mind- 1ST Would be the Hinsons back in the day, the Perrys, The group Sisters, The Crabb family,The Bowling family,, The Nelons, and a few more..... But, there has never been, nor ever will be another Cathedrals!!! You can go back and look at their 25th year reunion when they had all the guys back! Nearly everyone of this singers who sang with George n Glenn, at some time since the beginning of the group- - have gone on to do great things for the Kingdom! Why? In my opinion, everything rises and falls with leadership! You cannot reproduce something you are not! As leaders in any profession- good or bad- ** WE REPRODUCE WHAT WE ARE!!!** THAT'S ALL WE CAN DO!!! AND LOOK AT THE GREATNESS THAT GEORGE N GLENN PRODUCED!!! NOW, AS GREAT AS THEY WERE IN SINGING THEIR PART- ARGUABLY THE BEST LEAD AND BASS EVER; BUT THAT'S DEBATABLE- - AND NOT WHAT MADE THEM GREAT! THEY WERE A CLASS ACT BECUZ THEY LIVED WHAT THEY SANG, THEY PUT GOD FIRST IN ALL THEY DID, THEY DIDN'T MIND TESTYIFYING ABOUT IT IN A SPLIT SECOND HOW GOD RADICALLY CHANGED THEIR LIFE!!! THEY ENJOYED WHAT THEY DID, THEY LIVED THE LIFE ON AND OFF THE STAGE-- AS EVIDENCE IN THEIR STRONG MARRIAGES AND FAMILY LIFE, THEY NEVER DID IT JUST FOR THE MONEY, THEY WERE ALWAYS BRINGING OTHERS UP TO THE TOP WITH THEM- (IN FACT PUSHING OTHERS AHEAD OF THEM!!!); YOU ALWAYS GOT 100% EVERY NITE; THEY SET UP THOSE GUYS TO BE SUCCESSFUL, NOT TO FAIL! -- THEY WERE THEIR GREATEST CHEERLEADERS, THEY DIDN'T NEED THE FAME-- THIS MEN JUST LOVED GOD WITH ALL THEIR HEART SOUL N MIND N BODY; THEIR FAMILIES; THEIR FRIENDS, THE GUYS THEY TRAVELED WITH; AND LOVED THE FANS!!!( And it showed every nite THEY took that stage. CZ that's one thing you can't fake every nite!!!) THEY WERE ANOINTED AND APPOINTED, AND CALLED BY THE LORD TO DO WHAT THEY DO, THEY WERE LOVED BY THEIR PEERS, VERY LITTLE JEALOUSY. ( That says a mouthful there!) AND NO MATTER WHERE YOU SAW THEM, THEY WERE ALWAYS THE SAME, AND BESIDES BEING ONE OF THE LOWEST BASSES, STRONGEST BASSES, CLEAREST BASES, BEST SOLO BASSES,, KNEW HOW TO BLEND AND PULL BACK WHEN HE NEEDED TO; AND HAD A CONTAGIOUS PASSIONATE PERSONALITY; BUT MOST OF ALL, PEOPLE FORGET GEORGE YOUNCE IN MY OPINION, WAS THE GREATEST MCs B4 OR SINCE!!! And Glenn was a very humble fellow, but not afraid to shout, or to prideful to let GEORGE pick on him- but continued to stay humble, and handle a lot of the business offstage! GEORGE N GLENN WERE LEGENDS IN SOUTHERN GOSPEL; SPECIAL; AND BOTH DEPENDED ON GOD!!! AND SOHH WHEN YOU HEAR THEM SING ABOUT HEAVEN AND THEIR CITY CALLED *HOMELAND-* - YOU KNOW THEY ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, WITHOUT A DOUBT, MEAN IT!!! YOU CAN STILL FEEL IT IN 2017!!! GOD REST THEIR SOULS- BUT THEIR MUSIC STILL GOES ON, AND IS STILL TOUCHING HEARTS AND LIVES TODAY!!!! AMEN, THE END!!!

The late great Roger Bennett is the best i have seen or heard when he was on the piano. He also had a good voice. I regret that i did not get to see him live. I shall miss him a lot!

mrbojangles: Don't worry too much about it, life is really short, compared to forever, and that is what we are guaranteed! That means you have Forever to meet and befriend and go over for dinner and have him play personal recitals for you or maybe even you and JESUS! Now isn't that worth waiting a time for? I've heard people say "HEAVEN will be so boring, floating on a cloud, with a harp, forever." How little they know or understand the depth of GOD's Love. There will not be a moment in Heaven that we will have time to be bored.
