  • The 2024 Paris Olympic Games were Australia's most successful, and in four years, Los Angeles will come through with its star power, so what will Brisbane bring to the 2032 Games?

    We don't need flashy new stadiums as long as they work and have enough capacity which is debatable. I don't remember a single thing about the Paris Olympic stadiums or any stadiums for that matter except for Beijing's nest and cube (but at what cost). What people will remember from the host is the flag handover and opening and closing ceremony. Ask people about Paris years from now and they probably think of Celine Dion, Eiffel tower and poop water.

      Stade du France existed for decades. Had excellent capacity. A 40k capacity is disgraceful. Some 5k seats will already be taken by organisers and athletes’s families and coaches.

    Brisbane will bring its own unique flair to the 2032 Games, showcasing a mix of natural beauty and modern infrastructure. Imagine the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC), surrounded by lush forests where you might even spot a koala, adding a distinctly Australian touch to the event. The city will also boast a new casino, offering world-class entertainment, and the new river rail will provide seamless transport spectators across the city. Iconic venues like Suncorp Stadium and the Gabba might be host thrilling events. Let's revisit these thoughts in a few years to see how Brisbane evolves!

    Forget about flash stadiums that bankrupt a city. Even the London Olympics stadium often put forward as a great example of sustainability is now in trouble.
    And don't forget the stadium for the Birmingham commonwealth games an old running track with temporary stands. All the athletes said the atmosphere was brilliant.
    It not the stadium that make a successful games it's the people.

    I think that a city with just little bit over 2 million inhabitants is too small to host the Olympic Games with its countless sports venues. Rio 2016 and Athens 2004, both cities larger than Brisbane, have many sports facilities that are no longer needed or are falling into disrepair. It is now allowed by the IOC and I think it would be better if Brisbane shared the games with another city. For example Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth.

    We got 8 years left till 2032 the planning should be finished right now and the building should begin. What the IOC is doing to Brisbane is testing whether they can spend as little as possible which won't work.
    Solution:
    1. Go big or go home, either go with gabber or Victoria Park because LA is gonna be a show stopper.
    2. Advertise the games a year in advance to build up the hype for the games.

    • @gilbydog7350
      @gilbydog7350 Месяц назад +2

      LA and Paris are actually examples of where the IOC is testing whether they can spend as little as possible. Both cities have a very small number of new permanent venues, in LA I believe no new permanent venues at all are planned.
      Brisbane is planning a number of new permanent venues (I believe around 7), so this will be an expensive Games for the city to host.
      The Brisbane games will probably end up being like the Athens and Rio Games, which both proved to be very expensive for their second tier city hosts.
