I swear she will keep winning and they will be running out of ways to surprise her "We are here today at Katelyns house. She thinks shes going to bed but really we are gonna surprise her with her 37th Gatorade award"
My hero and inspiration. I'm vietnam veteran with PTSD for one thing and recently decided to become a huge "couch potato." I also am agoraphobic. I was surfing RUclips one day and happened on one of Katelyn's videos and couldn't believe her win! I then listened to a couple of her interviews and that is where she became my inspiration. I decided then that I would no longer be a couch potato. I do have pain to deal with but I have worked out a schedule that allows me to work on projects until the pain builds up to where I have to take a break for a couple of hours and put on a heating pad. Granted my progress is slow, but at least it's progress. Thank you, Katelyn.
Congratulations. Looks like next generation of women's distance is looking good for U.S. This little lady is definitely headed for a gold medal in a future Olympics.
When I was involved with the Cornell T&F and X-C teams from 1970-74. the male distance runners didn't train to get biceps like that. Yes, they did some weight training, but mostly so their arms didn't tire out during their runs. The philosophy for weight training for both male and female athletes has dramatically changed in the last 50 years.
+Keyser Söze Look at 2:05. She doesn't have large muscles for a shot putter, but considering that she is an otherwise slender sophomore girl distance runner, that is an impressive bicep. There were some male distance runners at Cornell when I was there 1970-74 that would have come in second best to her biceps.
i had a friend who ran for 3 years no weight training and somehow got a pretty large bicep, not only big but flexible. proven to me that human has evolved to run and running makes one strong in not only legs but the whole body
She makes me want to be a better person with her courage, talent and ability to speak so well at that age. Doesn't feel the need to talk like a punk thug or sound like a fool when asked a question is what I really enjoy. You can easily see that she's not only talented but great academically as well. Nice work.
She is quick - and from women's track mile and up vids I have seen from Europe - will compete, but even she may need to add more speed - and cope with finishing sprints if she can't outrun them. I hope she does and can!
Such an incredible girl. I’m really hoping to see her in the olympics some time soon. I’ll be cheering for her no matter that she won’t be competing for my country.
She is the BOSS! I kind of think of her as being too busy to have an ego. She’s good; she knows it, but she works super hard, so why pretend otherwise? In some ways, having a crystal clear picture of who you actually are, including all your strengths, weaknesses, and God-given talents, is the actual definition of humility.
Well said! I find too many people trying too hard to receive credit for just doing their job. This girl is breaking national records all the time and is the most humble person you could meet because like you said she's too busy to be worried about having an ego.
I'm 66 now and three times in my life I've witnessed magic. In 1973 I became a fan of Secretariat. Watching him run brought tears to my eyes and took my breath away. In 2010 I became a fan of Jacqueline Marie Evancho. Watching and listening to her sing brought tears to my eyes and took my breath away and still does. Now in 2018 I've become a fan of Katelyn Touhy. Like Secretariat and Ms Evancho, watching Katelyn Tuohy brings tears to my eyes and takes my breath away.
I am 66 also, and the point he is making is that only a few times in your life will you truly witness greatness, something you and the rest of the world will remember. Goosebumps is your body's way of saying you are witnessing something rare, pay attention. I agree with Tosius2 selections. Watching Steph Curry shoot long shots also comes close, 400 3 pointers in one season!!
Got to watch her break the mile record at new balance nationals this year... Secretariat was the first thought I could form as I watched her race. Excellent comparison
I can compare her to Steve Prefontaine from Oregon late sixties, no stash and way better looking but that same killer instinct to run you to death, take no prisoners, no fear and no mercy.
Congrats to rising star Katelyn Touhy ! A totally awesome personality who is expanding interest in women’s distance running at the world level both on and off the track.
Not exactly the setting for such an award, but congrats, a well deserved reconnition for you accomplishment, glad to hear you enjoy cross country...finding that outdoor challenging traIl is fun...
Me encanta esta niña. Puede ser mi nieta. Yo corría maratón hace 40 años y no me encontré corredoras como ella. DIOS LA GUARDE Y BENDIGA EN SUS PASOS. DESEO CONOCERLA
Yes, it wouldn't be against the rules for her to enter the Olympic Trials as long as she hit the standard and registered in time. But it seems like she's being very patient and very relaxed about how she's taking her career. When offered a spot at Footlocker without racing the qualifier race, she and her coach declined. As far as I can tell, she will probably go into college and just compete as a collegian for the foreseeable future.
Walter Hansen...I hope she’s not pressured by adults but allowed to enjoy her success and progress at her own pace! Further; I hope her parents and her coach are her greatest protectors and shields from adults chomping at the bit to chew her up?!
@@TheHawkeye61 . She has great support around her. Her coach said the hardest thing is getting her to slow down because his main concern is that she doesn't burn out. He lets her set her own pace and doesn't bother her about setting time goals like other coaches would.
(sorry im dumb but) where is the difference between track&field and cross country i thought it was just running Ah and second question:only 6 months a year? How do you like keep your ability to run that much if you dont train?!
the difference is that a track is a more controlled environment, it's flat and clean. Running cross-country means you're running over an uneven surface, and up and down little hills. Also tracks are created to be springy but ordinary dirt is not that way. Cross-country is more demanding in some ways and it also uses more of a variety of muscles than running on a flat track.
elliexc my guess is it is way above 4.0 and probably take AP classes. She is an exceptional type A person would be my guess. Very impressive and grounded!!!
Hey don’t bother her life. She is NOT actress supposed to be flattered. To seek her career for her, she need the skills to keep media away from letting them slide into her life.
When I see phenomenal athletes like her I think about scientist finding a person with equal athleticism/genetics so they could make a super baby. I wish that could happen.
I swear she will keep winning and they will be running out of ways to surprise her
"We are here today at Katelyns house. She thinks shes going to bed but really we are gonna surprise her with her 37th Gatorade award"

Lmao!!!
Did anybody notice that bicep 😨

Wow! Good observation! The girl has one of the most athletic physics I have ever seen on a kid.

What muscles? She has very little muscle mass lol. Not hating, just a fact. Wouldn't be running that quick otherwise now would she?

ryo0ka yea I’ve been on my cities track club for 2 years and noticed unusually larger biceps after I quit. Now they’ve diminished after I stopped
YEESS queen!!!👑👑👑 she deserves it, hard work pays off
I feel like shell be able to get Gatorade national cross country / track runner of the year again
they don't usually pick the same person for xc and track because of how different people are with the sports but ikr
Olevia Tinpaw I mean she kinda will have to since any PR that she gets is probably a new age group record lo
This aged like fine wine
Can you hug this girl through a video ?
She has the heart of a champion no matter what else happens.
Her parents have done an excellent job. Kudos.

@@Mozzie402 there's no age requirement, remember Micheal Phelps won gold at 15

I watched her today on RUclips and she was amazing!
I just love this kid. I can't wait to see her compete in the Olympics.
She could run backwards and beat everyone!. Lol ! She is unbelievable ! She is from another planet ! She will be a world and olympic champion!
One of my favorite runners right now. Keep it up Katelyn.

Should be interesting to see her vs. Grace Ping in a few years.
I don't think puberty was kind to Grace
Todd Kelly Grace won her state meet about a week back. She’s killing it!
Grace burned out already lmao
@Silence isGolden Neither of those girls is trans, wtf are you smoking?

would have never guessed she was 16. looks 13 at best. crazy talent nevertheless
@@zabaleta66 Ew wtf!
Well distance running puts stress on the body which can slow down growth hormones. Sprinting can increase it. But also some are late bloomers.

This girl
Is amazing
So should we expect to see her at ath 2020 games, or 2024 ?
24.... she'd be 18 for the 2020. too young.
2020 - she's legally old enough to run in the Olympics (over 16) and she's run the 3rd fastest time in the 5K this year. All she has to do is qualify.
