The farmhouse is going to need a visionary who can see past the current state with plans for a separate utility/laundry room and major makeover. With all the wood, I would go for a cabin look inside and out with an open porch overlooking a lovely cottage garden.

As far as "Rolling Up Your Sleeves", you're gonna need ALOT more than that for this First one!!!! The ENTIRE PLACE needs to be Gutted!!!! Tia is doing an INCREDIBLE JOB, along with her Dad!!!! She may have paid $1 for it, but it's costing THOUSANDS to redo!!!! I just LOVE the Second House though!!!! Very Clean and GREAT little Front Porch!!!! Don't think it's worth $109,000. The Last has a Great Sunporch, but having a Front Deck would bother me!!!!

I would remove it altogether and update with sheetrock. The only problem is the doorframe will have to be shimmed up to reinstall your trim flush with the thicker wall, but that's an easy fix.
