  • One of the premier methods of contemporary philosophy is phenomenology. Inaugurated by German philosopher Edmund Husserl at the turn of the twentieth century, phenomenology has proved to have a steady staying power among other recent philosophical developments. Many figures have contributed to advancements in phenomenology, including Max Scheler, Edith Stein, Hedwig Conrad-Martius, Erich Przywara, Martin Heidegger, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Hans-Georg Gadamer, Paul Ricoeur, Emmanuel Levinas, Karol Wojtyła, and Jean-Luc Marion. Phenomenology aims at a precise contact and description of all that gives itself through conscious perception. In the postmodern era, phenomenology restores access to universal essences and truth according to the Husserlian quest: "to the things themselves." This video podcast is hosted by former student of Jean-Luc Marion, Dr. Donald Wallenfang, OCDS, PhD.
