Aboriginal is ok to say - people think you can’t say it anymore but I think thats because they’re thinking of the term ‘aborigine’ which isn’t used anymore. ‘First Nations people’ is safe, as is ‘Indigenous Australians’: note both of these terms include both Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders
5:30 At the end of the 18th century, when the Convention took power in France, Spain lost a war against France and they signed a treaty that I think it is the San Ildefonso treaty where the Spanish cede the Hispaniola island to France
Australia has only one national flag but the Australian Aboriginal flag (that’s its official title) has been recognised as an official flag since 1995 under the provisions of the Flags Act 1953.
Hi!! I’ve to say you that your videos are amazing and relaxing. I hope that one day you will do a video talking about Canary Islands (Spain). We have a lot fun fact interesting like the highest point of the country or the “silbo gomero”, a whistled language.
It's not as cool as the flag it replaced! A giant lion holding a scimitar, yes please. It also lacks the amazing history of the Derafsh Kaviani, the royal standard of Persia since before Persia existed. Throwing away all that for the current flag...meh.
@@WelshASMR82Maps but actually Romania was the first to use the flag since 1848, then the communist party added the coat of arms after the WW2. In 1989 after the Revolution the coat of arms (a symbol of communism) was removed, returning to the old flag. Chad adopted their flag when Romania was in full communism, they should have been more creative with their flag :)
Don't ever do this again, I missed you a lot. Never leave us without a video. You know, you're my fckng inspiration to be polyglot. THE GOAT at spreading languages from Wales, Britain! 🇬🇧 🇬🇧
This doesn't have much to do with flags, but thought I'd share because your videos pop into my thoughts a lot. I have this old beat up book called the Oxford Concise Dictionary of World Place-Names which I have, being a nerd, read almost cover to cover. One thing I notice around the world is that the etymology of places are, most of the time, tied to rivers or whatever the dominant geological thing is in that area. So you get lots of places in Britain, as you've pointed out a couple times, with names like "River river" when taking the Welsh combined with the English word for it. Some interesting examples of that in Africa include Chad, named after Lake Chad, Chad being a word for lake in many local languages. So Chad means lake, and Lake Chad means Lake Lake. Another that blew my mind somewhat: I have always assumed that Niger and Nigeria were thus named for the same unfortunate reasons that those with "Guinea" in their names were. Nations with "guinea" were named that by outsiders due to the skin color of their inhabitants, although it isn't clear which outsiders those first were nor what the original language was. Fortunately, and I'm happy to be wrong for so long, the Niger* names come from Berber, "gr-n-grwn", "river of rivers." So it can be said that the Niger River, after which the nations are named, means "River of Rivers River."

Iran was super interesting to learn about I always just assumed the emblem was a very stylized dragon w his wings out
I didn't realise it meant Allah either, I was surprised to learn that myself 🇮🇷
