thank you for making these flag asmr videos. i spend a lot of time looking and thinking of flags in my spare time. i wondered for a long time if anyone made flag asmr videos but brushed off the idea until i just searched for it one night and found you 💙💙💙
Fun fact about the Coat of arms of Baden Württemberg, the three Black Lions on Gold first appeared in 1220 on the Seal of the Duke of Swabia, but were most likely used a bit before that as well, the coat of arms comes from the Swabian Ruling Dynasty of the 12th and 13th century, called the „Hohenstaufen“ or „Staufer“, for instance Kaiser Frederick Barbarossa was of this house.
A++ in pronounciation of the Dutch provinces ! 👍goed gedaan. I knew most of the flags and their origins because I love coat of arms and history. But its fun to learn more.
1.) Thank you for working better than Ambien. 2.) I love all these coats of arms with lions on them, when lions aren’t native to within 1,000-2,000 miles of these places. Someone must have just said, “lions are cool, let’s use that.” At least the UK added a unicorn haha.
My pleasure. I looked up the lion thing and by all accounts they were common in North Africa during Roman times so they captured some and brought them to Rome and Carthage to show them off. They were way more spread across Africa compared to nowadays. I just googled it before pressing send and Cave Lions lived in the UK 12 to 14,000 years ago too! 😲
As you said, that the flag of Baden-Wurttemberg reminds you of Ferrari, i thought it would be interesting to know that Porsche, a Car brand from Stuttgard in Baden-Württemberg has the same kind of Horse on their Logo as Ferrari does. This horse is the City Animal of Stuttgart and in the first world war a guy from Stuttgart with this Coat of Arms on his Plane got shot by an Italian guy who was with the older brother of Enzo Ferrari. And the guy liked that Horse so he used it on his own plane. Afzer the war the friend and brother of Enzo died and he got a Race....ist? Well he participated in races and the used this Horse too
it is a great video to know why the colors are as they are for german countries atleast. but the book doesnt tell much about the history, as why some coats are this way, or for example why dose saxony-anhalt has the prussian eagle, the saxon leavs and the bernburger bear on the wall... i know it would be another 2-4 vids to get into it, but maybe smth for the german channel , and i wouldnt even be mad if u did it in english
Fun Fact, the Flag of the KINGDOM of Württemberg was Black and Red, instead of Black and Gold, because Austria at that time had already taken these colours. Im not sure if this story is 100% correct but its the one I heard, supposedly the Swabians just said to themselves „well our coat of arms is Gold and Black, but the lions on it have red tongues and claws, so lets use that colour instead.“ Sounds kind of unlikely but not impossible I think.
Showing the german flag or flags of the german states is considered pretty problematic by the german government. So you better stay on your toes, brother.
The first federal country of Baden-Württemberg is misspelled as Württemburg
Das ist die Englische Schreibweise, Bayern heißt ja auch Bavaria
@@Alissia121there’s no equivalent English translation of Württemberg . Moreover, the name is mentioned twice and the second time spelled correctly.
In some areas of the UK they spell it like that.
Viel schlimmer: er hat Bayern als teil von Deutschland genannt
I do find your voice super relaxing, and I always learn something I wasn't planning to learn, so win-win.
Oh thank you!
When you pronounce Dutch words, you sound like someone from the south, pretty cool. Very good pronunciation though.
Best regards from Friesland.
It must be a niche target audience of people who need a flag book for on the go. 😂
Yes! Haha. But I am that niche!
Today we will be studying the holy Roman Empire, and we will continue studying until we memorise all the flags…
I used to love such books as a kid and I still know most flags, capitals and country shapes thanks to that 😊

Could you do this fot Belgium please? I'm interested to know if my city's flag is in that book haha. Love your content btw keep it up man
You should do this with Leonard Jägerskölds book about Football logos.
I have this exact book from the library on my shelf. 😂

Thank you 🙏🏼 i would love to see the spanish ones
An important aspect of the Bavarian flag is often lost, and often gotten wrong: The top left diamond should be white (as in this video)
What would you like to know about Switzerland?😁
I am curious about the Cantons. Have any tried to go independent?
Oh yes 😍

A UK county flags video soon??
Baden-Württemberg might've reminded you of the flag of the Austrian empire, at least that's what I thought of when I saw it.
Fun Fact, the Flag of the KINGDOM of Württemberg was Black and Red, instead of Black and Gold, because Austria at that time had already taken these colours.
Im not sure if this story is 100% correct but its the one I heard, supposedly the Swabians just said to themselves „well our coat of arms is Gold and Black, but the lions on it have red tongues and claws, so lets use that colour instead.“

All of the Austrian flags are missing the eagles and lions, that's why they look weird
Except for Tirol of course
And Wien (Vienna) and Vorarlberg are straight up wrong
I thought they looked odd 😕
Even though, I just realised that the flags could fit, the coat of arms has all of the interesting emblems on it
These flags are the simplified version of the coat of arms
would you make a video about Hungary sometime in the future? you always kinda avoid it on the maps/books
I know so little about Hungary 😭 I will find some resource to learn more about it ☺️
