I’m Dutch! This was a very interesting video to watch. The reason why they replaced the Orange with Red is because Orange wasn’t that well visible at sea. Red was also a cheaper color to get.
1. Wales is so cool! I love the dragon it's so feisty for such a small nation! 2. I love how you deal with these topics, you are here to educate and it shows. You understand that there's some tension in some areas of these things and you acknowledge them and show that you are not there to address them but to address the brilliance behind each thing. It's very refreshing in today's society and something I have found myself actively implementing into my own life. Thank you for the influence you hold and the good you do with it! I love this channel the only thing I don't like is you get me so relaxed and sleepy but you talk about such interesting things I don't want to fall asleep and it's just a cycle of nodding off and being completely fascinated! Thank you and have the most spectacular new year : )
Wales has the best flag in the world. Period. That's the reason why I already likes Wales as a kid, because I totally was into dragons :D But my interest for Wales was always there and became stronger and stronger in recent years. You can be proud of your flag and your country.
3:45 The Habsburgs owned the Netherlands for about a hundred years starting from around 1482 until 1579 when the Dutch declared independence, though they fought for this freedom for another 80 years give or take. Of those hundred years, they were specifically under Spain for only a few decades before the revolt broke out, as previously both Spain and the Low Countries were under a unified Habsburg crown. What is now Belgium was actually under Spanish rule for another 200 years until the 1790s.
I thought he was making a joke when he said that the Dutch made carrots orange, but he always explains it well. He could be lying and I’d still believe him 😂
@@dukestt5436 Yo thanks for the reply man. Fortunately for you I actually watched the rest of the video and found this information for myself; nevertheless, your reply was informative and helpful and inspired me to learn more about carrots. Thanks for that 👍
My uncle is from Scotland. He’s lived in the U.S. for near to twenty years. When the 4th of July came around, somebody asked what he thought of it. He said something like ‘Anything to celebrate getting away from the UK, I’m down for’
The orange carrots for the royal family is sadly just a story, it is true that dutch farmers started mainly producing only orange carrots but this was because they simply grew better/sold better. the orange carrot became somewhat of a global standard because of mass exportation, the story was only added later for fun i guess.
When I first learned about the existence of Sint Eustatius island I was quite happy because I have the same name with this island!!!(My name is "Efstathios " which is the greek equivalent for "Eustatius" and also "Eustace".
Can you please do a video where u just explore Chicago illinois in the US on Google maps or Google earth or the software you use please. Love your videos by the way
I don't normally do this, comment on videos, but I felt the need to comment here this time. You said in the video that 'Northern Irelamd doean't have a flag' and that is only partly correct. Northern Ireland doea not have an 'official' flag but the one im your book is the 'neutral' flag of the country. The white and red saltire flag is called the saint patrick's saltire and therefore Northern Ireland is fully represented on the flag of the United Kingdom. The people and community I belong to in Northern Ireland, however, do still, very proudly, use the Red Hand Of Ulster to represent them. The Red Hand flag was created when Northern Ireland became a seperate country in its own right, when a vote was taken to ask the people if they wanted to stay British and a part of Great Britain and the people said yes, they did. The story behind the flag came from the days of history. Two men, believed to be Kings, wanted to claim the land which is now Northern Ireland as their own so a race in boats was devised and the rule was that the first of the two men who got to a certain point on the land and laid his hand on it first got to claim the country as his own. So off the two men went. One of the men saw that he was losing, and really he didn't want to, so in a ditch of desperation, he got out his sword, cut off one of his own hands - originally believed to be the left one - picked it up and threw it with all of his strength to try to get it to land on the shore first. It worked and he won as technically the rule never stated that the hand had to be attached to the body, so the handless chap was granted the country as his. When I was a child, I distinctly remember seeing the original Red Hand flag flying around, and especially on Parade Day on the 12th July. Under the hand there used to be three drops of blood, but how they ended up being erased over time is not something I know, hence my earlier comment about it being somewhat sanitised. To my people, this will always be the original flag of Northern Ireland. It represented my community then and it still does today and always will do. No matter how much any authority tries to erase it, remove it from us, ban it, they won't succeed. It is our flag that represents us and we will always fly it and be proud of it. Sorry for the long post, but I hope you find the information useful.
The wording for Ireland did bother me not even gonna lie… how can you (the book I mean) say ‘joined’ knowing full well it was colonised. Great video though!
The Channel Islands and even the Isle of Man are British, They have dominion status (Greater autonomy) like Canada from 1867-1931, Australia 1901-1942, New Zealand 1907-1947. Britain is responsible for their protection and can over rule the islands government if they wish but don't
As an englishman who enjoys history, i did laugh at the "joined." I might start using that the colonies "joined" the empire, in somesort of membership. There are no wars and genocide to see here 😂😂😂 all sunshine and rainbows.

Does this book have the flags of Africa and South America? If you have, please bring it, I would love to know more.

Would you ever consider doing videos on other sports than footie? Like explaining American football/ ice hockey/ rugby etc?

41:06 Tannu what?😂
And btw it‘s north of Mongolia
I watch ASMR to help me sleep, but your videos are too interesting, full of great facts and start me on a Wikipedia rabbit hole 🤣
That is the downside of doing informative videos! At least you are enjoying them in some capacity!
@@WelshASMR82Maps definitely enjoying them! Even if I stay up all night learning 🤓
Ooh, I learned the word "Triskelion" from the Marvel movies 😅 it was the S.H.I.E.L.D. building that got destroyed in Captain America 2.
northern island in football uses a different flag than that one actually
Thx

What are people from Luxembourg technically called? like “ English “ from England “American” from America etc.

Dutch territories??? Tahiti, australia, timbuktu and new york
Australia was never Dutch territory
The Spanish dialect you speak is Galician, right? That probably helped you master Portuguese.
I know now to ask for a map tour of Latin America and/or South America!
As a dutch person, id love to listen dutch asmr
I have a dutch channel too! @welshasmr82_dutch63
Just need to slap a dragon with black outlines in the middle of the union jack
Exactly!
Have to give England credit, their empire stretched the globe, impressive.
*Britain
Why has the welsh flag not been incorporated into the union flag in recent years?
Wales is basically overlooked by Westminister. It is very frustrating :(
@@WelshASMR82Maps it’s very sad, it’s easily the coolest flag in the ‘union’, if not the world?
I’d do anything for a Lithuania asmr video haha 😂

Yes... not the right word at all :( Joined at gunpoint!
I only ever get to 3 mins in these videos. 😅
So you’re saying the school you went to hid the fact that Spain controlled the Netherlands???! Hahahahahah
You can find all history on the web
Gift
Am I the only one who doesn’t like the American flag design
I quite like it. Red, white and blue are cool flag colours
Спасибо! С праздником вас!

Wales isn't a real country.
