He's right. Black people have been doing that for a long time. Milestone comics dying was proof of that. Black people wanted Black heroes that even had hood/ghetto origins and still didn't support milestone in the long run. When I learned about that I told myself I would never make token stuff or Black versions of anything. Unless I liked it and wanted to make it.
I agree, for the most part, some stuff I'm like yea no your reaching, buddy. As a black man, my energy is also the "race is irrelevant I care about story." However, idk right them all off as cleche fried chicken gun violence and all that. It actually can be done quite tastefully, believe or not. Dark lights the rdc comic. It's like this boondocks static shock story. To things I genuinely enjoyed as a kid. Im. I'm just saying keep more of an open mind.

You guys are definitely right.
And I would even say that many of the people who complain about token characters and race/gender-swappings are guilty of this too. They claim that they'd support original diverse characters, but you'll rarely see them do it.
