    Great video and great comparisons! Prior to this video, I would manually change my settings and spin up multiple streams and compare it my self. But your video helped me make the decision fairly quickly.
    Looks like there's not much difference between P5 and P7 :)

    It's a good effort to render the video in the highest quality you are able to as RUclips will always diminish it, so that's a good one as it is clarified to me and as I do not see any difference between the last steps, because I was concerned about the lose of quality going from P7 to P5 for streaming, as in the obs page says that you should ''low your in-game graphics or cap the fps as you must reserve some of the resources for the video encoding or otherwise your video FPS will be fucked up although you use an rtx 4080 in 1440p (as is my case)''.
    I don't know if I explained myself correctly, but to me: P5 = better performance with derisory quality loss, so thanks a lot for making the video and taking all that time to perform it!

    • @wrywndp
      @wrywndp  Год назад +2

      yeah, I tried my best but it's still far from perfect to simulate a fast-motion game with a complex scene like Overwatch or Apex (sadly I don't play this game, I have PUBG though but it's not fast and has a complex scene like both of them). The only scene that almost replicates that scenario is when the camera moves fast to the Hydra.
      For the performance, you can see my latest video about NVENC utilization. And I agree with you P5 is better for a majority of people who has low-end hardware because it's easier to run.

  • @AngelTyraelGM
    @AngelTyraelGM Год назад +3

    nice it becomes quite a bit harder to tell p5 from p7, also i tested in overwatch with 99-100% gpu usage p5 to p7, and if the game is gpu limited and allready maxed the higher the p setting the more fps loss altho its fairly small p5 was 456fps, p6 445fps, p7 442fps, short test and fps was all over the place at the very least i know for a fact p5 gets slightly more fps was hard to tell between p6 and p7
    edit: with 50% resolution downscale i was cpu bound, and it didnt seem to affect fps at all from p5 to p7, test was on ryzen 5600g with 3060ti

    • @wrywndp
      @wrywndp  Год назад

      If you have MSI afterburner and HWInfo64 you could also monitoring NVENC usage with plugin modules. In my testing P7 almost not worth it in 1440p since the NVENC usage almost hit 100% (which will introduce encoding lag)

    P3 looks like best of both worlds to me.
    Do you know if the quarter res 2nd pass would add quality? Any chance that you make a last encoding with P3 and quarter res 2pass and post some comparison screenshots between those 2?
    I searched the whole web and even nvidia tells anything about it.

    • @wrywndp
      @wrywndp  7 месяцев назад +1

      If you play faster games like Apex Legend or Overwatch, you need at least P5.
      Quarter resolution 2nd Pass definitely add quality, but keep it mind, that just like Psycho Visual Tuning, this setting also use GPU utilization which means could reduce FPS in heavy GPU scenarios.
      I prefer to up the preset from P3 to P5 since it using NVENC. and Choose multipass mode to quarter if you need more quality.
      I will make a video about it when I have free time.

    Im currently trying find out if there is a visible difference in recording at p4-7 at 4k. From what i see the difference is pretty much neglagable after p4. Would you agree?
    Also thanks so mich for making this vid. Its literally the only one ive found so far that actually compares the different presets

    • @wrywndp
      @wrywndp  Год назад +1

      I wouldn't suggest anyone using high preset when recording especially in 4k since you're going to use CQP anyway. But nothing wrong using high preset as long you're not hitting 100% video encoder usage.
      But yeah, from p4 to p7 the difference is almost negligible.

    What settings do you recomend for the least impact on framerate and gpu usage when streamming, rn im on 8000Kbps P4 preset, high quality tuning, should i decrease the bitrate and increase the preset, or is it better to have a higher bitrate and lower preset

    • @wrywndp
      @wrywndp  7 месяцев назад +1

      If you want performance for your games, just use Singe Pass Mode and Turn OFF Psycho Visual Tuning and Look-ahead. No need to decrease bitrate or lower preset as long your NVENC utilization not 90%++

      1. Since you're not streaming the game you're playing at full screen you can go for 1080p (base canvas and output)
      2. Change the preset from P3 to P5.
      3. Keep look-ahead and PVT off unless you want to get better quality turn PVT only (keep in mind this feature uses GPU utilization, meaning less fps for your game)
      4. Based on your past streaming on Twitch, you got transcode feature, so you could up your bitrate to 7000~8000 Kbps, but remember to keep your bitrate below 80% of your max upload bandwidth.
