  • Many, many thanks to Marc-Roderich Pfau who has helped with obtaining the music; and many thanks to Brian Clark for editorial suggestions and encouragement. This music will be available as an urtext edition (score and performance parts) via www.primalamusi...; and will be part of a series publishing music for multiple choirs of trumpets and timpani, and particularly florid trumpet parts as particularly found in Viennese baroque music of Johann Joseph Fux, Antonio Caldara and Johann Georg Reutter .
Marzio Coriolano was composed in 1717 for the birthday of the Austrian empress Elisabeth Christine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (28 August 1691 -- 21 December 1750) and performed at court on her birthday, and opens with a lavish instrumental introduction scored for four trumpets, timpani, and oboes.
