Carlo d'Ordoñez / Sinfonia in C major, Brown C:10 revised video
A volume in the ongoing series publishing the sinfonias of Ordoñez in new urtext editions by www.primalamusica.com published by Brian Clark. The audio was generated via Sibelius Ultimate. Many thanks to Brian Clark and Max Sobel for suggestions with this edition. This is the first movement only. And the repeats are not performed.
Many thanks to Vitor Junqueira of Portugal for permission to use his photograph. Please see his other work online @ www.flickr.com/people/vitorjk/
This is a highly unusual symphony, mostly because of its opulent scoring. It requires two choirs of trumpets and timpani (two trumpets and timpani in each choir), in addition to 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 horns, with a delight...

This sinfonia is available at www.primalamusica.com in a new urtext edition and is based on an 18th century source in Prague. This is the first movement. This is the opening movement, and has that forward and energetic movement. and rich string sonorities that d'Ordoñez loved. Many thanks to Brian Clark and Max Sobel for their editorial suggestions.
Johann Baptist Wanhal / Sinfonia in Bb for 2 Oboes, 2 Horns, Strings, Bryan Bb4
Просмотров 2429 лет назад
This sinfonia was likely composed between 1760 - 1762 according to Wanhal scholar Paul Bryan, based on his analysis of the paper watermarks, and because of its stylistic factors. And is likely one of Wanhal's earliest sinfonias. The horn parts are extremely high (B flat horns) This new performing and urtext edition is now available from Brian Clark's web boutique @ primalamusica.com/ This is th...

Just the beginning part of the chorus from the 1749 Passion Week cantata cycle "O, ein großer Todesfall! Jesus höret auf zu leben." C.P.E. Bach used this chorus in his St. John Passion for 1772, H. 785. Many, many thanks to Marc-Roderich Pfau who has helped with obtaining the music, and the text transcription of some extremely difficult handwriting. This edition will part of a large scale proje...

Saludos cordiales

Two (apparently) minority opinions: 1. DeKoven provided a valuable service: he contributed substantially to the mountain of evidence strongly suggesting that the largest category in classical music is that of justly neglected composers; even he himself can't resist describing a piece heard here as "monotonous." 2. As to the notion that WGBH's Robert J. Lurtsema's on-air manner was "dignified," it fails to convince: rather, the word that comes to mind is "catatonic."

I remembered this song from when I was just three years old, growing up in L.A. my father played the tune many times during the 1950s. Had no clue as to the name, and had not heard it except in my head, until I heard it in The Irishman. Never forgot the unique tune and sound! Love it!

I heard this tune the other night when I was surfing the TV net for a good movie and, to my good fortune, picked The Irishman. Delicado was quite a trip down memory lane: I heard it for the first time in 1952 when I was 11 years old and, to say the least, left quite an impression. The movie had some other classic tunes like Perez Prado's Que Rico Mambo for example. Loved it in the 50's, love it now.

I love Scorsese's music choice to this sequence in the Irishman; the music and the flowing camera throws the audiences off guard, starts out with connections and conversations giving it a balletic elegant dynamic and then ends in a grisly mob murder. Brilliant.
