Hey everyone, looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow! To be honest, I don't think this year's demos matches up to last year's (mostly being a hodge-podge of Castlevania 3 and Aria of Sorrow assets, as you can tell from the recent videos), but fortunately I plan to do regular, smaller demos throughout 2025, so you won't have to wait long to get your next SotN fix! That said, the Christmas demos have become something of a tradition on the channel, so I hope you will enjoy what's here! Merry Christmas!
No worries, man! It'll still be cool to get a chance to mess around with the stuff you've been working on. I'm just glad you're keeping the tradition alive! Hope you and yours have a merry Christmas, and a great new year.
I know, right?! If all these great Genesis developers keep it up, we'll need a gaming magazine to distribute demo disks (SD cards?) so we can get all the demos from one convenient source.
I'm really looking forward to the more frequent updates this year, thanks for sticking with the project for so long, Pigsy, I know how hard it is to keep motivated while dealing with stuff that hard. Keep up the excellent work!
I was quite happy with how the Soma sprite turned out considering how it was such a last minute edition. I should have a more substantial demo in a few weeks!
The demos look and sound great, and more importantly the jump physics feel correct now where they didn't in last year's demo. Can't wait to see additional progress!
Every second of waiting intrigues me, I already want the results of months of hard work. It will be a fabulous Christmas gift 🎁 I can't wait to have the new Demo in my possession surpasses the previous one, we'll see Pigsy's Retro Games Dev
Looking forward to checking this out. I'm especially going to be trying to figure out those new parallax techniques. Oh and some of the new backgrounds you made look awesome in the video!
Castle 3 made my heart pound! Just like a Castle X68000 demo I found on BR SGDK Scene! And this Aria Demo IS amazing! Now I'm desiring to see these 2 also completed! LOL But we need to have our feet on earth! Everything must have their time to not mess up all the work! GREAT JOB PIGSY AND FREINDS!! HAVE A AMAZING YEAR!!
SOTN looks more amazing each release. Castlevania 3's GFX are ace and e the handling is very tight, feels like home 😮 thanks to all of the Devs for the demos !!! Merry Xmas 🎉
Hello from Belarus! Did anybody record gameplay of this demo? I sooo want to see it))) Castlevania games meen a lot for me. Also sega gave me many memories. That's why it's very existing to see them both in action. P. S. Pigsy, thank you so much for this work, it's realy inspiring.
Not sure if it's me, or something else, but the demo doesn't seem to be working quite right on my Mega SG Both CV3 and SOTN bot up, but no enemies are present in the stages. I also can't transition from room to room normally. Maybe I'm doing something wrong and I didn't see an option I needed to set on the post-title screen. CV3 loads up as well, but freezes after a few seconds. I'm also having a weird issue with Mega R-Rype's demo having garbled graphics and then crashing. But, Mega Final Fight runs fine. So, no idea what to make of it.
Hi im trying to make a romhack of castlevania bloodlines that adds little cutscenes in between the map screen and start of stage that shows how they got from place to place. Do you think your video guides would help with that or would i need to learn the code specifically for bloodlines? I read somewhere that genesis games use different coding language for different games. And i wanted to know if that applied to romhacks. Sorry if im asking a question you dont know the answer to. Just thought id ask just in case.
Really should have targeted the 32x. Its larger colour palette, on screen colours and VRAM size. Also the Mega CD could be used to load data from CD's and handle the audio. Also the mega CD has great sprite scaling. The source code for Doom on the 32x could be useful. The 32x has 256 KB RAM and 256 KB VRAM. This is far bigger than the mega drive. 64KB on the mega drive would put limits on want you could have ingame. You could do the mega drive version first and then add support for the 32x later. Add what is missing back into the game first using the 32x. Then improve the 32x version. Mega CD would really add the PS1 music back into the port. I can dream I guess. This would be a great 32x mega cd game. Like Doom 32x fusion is currently. I really love this version of castlevania.

Thanks, that's nice to hear. I'm happy to be a small part of people's Christmas!
lol true
I feel like a kid in the early 90s with all these genesis games/demos released today.... Castlevania, batman and star wars!
I know, right?! If all these great Genesis developers keep it up, we'll need a gaming magazine to distribute demo disks (SD cards?) so we can get all the demos from one convenient source.
Also Sonic Robo Blast 2 for 32x

I like that one too, puts me in the mood
while not as big as last years demo its pretty impressive how well the sprites look especially soma's dawn of sorrow sprites

Amazing stuff 👍❤️
Que presentão!
Parabéns! Grato pela demo.
Descobri que, em CSON, há uma forma de vazar pelas paredes. Claro, sei que está em desenvolvimento, mas é só para caso ajude em algo

Sorry, I've never done a hack before so don't really understand how it works. Sounds like a cool idea though
@PigsysRetroGameDevTutorials ah ok no worries Im still in the research phase.
Where is the demo? I only saw ps1 graphics
At the very beginning of the video, he put text on the screen that said he's showing mostly PS1 footage to avoid spoilers.
Gracias Papa Noel !!!

I respect your work immensely but using AI generated thumbnails is counter intuitive especially as a artist. Best of luck with your future endeavors

There are two links now, you only need to refresh the page, anyway I can't download them, dropbox asking for loging
I just realise that there is an "Download only" option xD
