To me Mass Effect 1 was by far the greatest game in the trilogy. There is a galactic feeling that the other two games fails to deliver. People hated the mako parts. I loved it. Control was bad and clunky but it was a certain feeling of exploration. Each artifact or mineral I found was very satisfying, going outside and the heat from the planet was too much for the suit. I don't know, it actually felt like I was in some remote planet in the universe. Getting briefings from hackett. Being a spectre it was still nice to know that a respected admiral had my back. Normandies stealth, weapon ammo and ammo upgrades. Everything just made sense, compared to Mass Effect 2 with its ridiculous ammo powers. I loved the cooldowns of the powers. It also made way for much more difficult gameplay. An adept could wreck havoc with a few moves but could be completely vulnerable if you used them poorly and were out of all moves. It more or less felt like a harder game. The upgrades. Upgrading your skills in each weapon was great. As a soldier I used the sniper and the shotgun and fucked everything up. The upgrades were a 100 times better than that of mass effect 2. The moments. Moments like the spectre induction, the alliance coming to aid the citadel, the choice sovereign vs the council, the coming of the wreckage scene, seeing the citadel for the first time were better than any moment in the other games. I was used to Andromeda and actually found I prefer the old style of game. I love the role play aspect that really wasn’t there in 2 and that really put me off
I always went with spacer, soldier and survivor of Akuze. I was disappointed that you couldn’t go to Akuze and see the apparent statue that was put up by the Alliance.
I voted for Femshep because I think Jennifer Hale has better vocal range as the character but I'm not pissed off about male Shepard. As for why people chose paragon, well the thing about Mass Effect is that you rarely actually gain new content for being the bad guy. For example, if you kill Wrex, you get a poor copy of Wrex in 2 and 3 that you won't have the same connection with. Plus it limits your options. From a purely gameplay point of view, being the good guy and saving everyone/letting them live gives you more content across the trilogy. There are individual moments that are worth playing renegade for (Mordin's fate in ME3 comes to mind) just so you can see them, but the way Mass Effect is designed, the most complete story comes from playing the good guy and helping your friends.
I agree about the voice acting. I think the story overall works better when he's a male, but sometimes Shepard's voice acting is so hollow and wooden it's painful. It almost draws you out of the great story. ALMOST Great stuff the paragon/renegade difference. I didn't know you get the better game experience from paragon, I just assumed everyone wanted to be a renegade. Thanks for the comment!
Gamers Little Playground™ I tend to play as the good guy in these kinds of games first before going back to see what else is on offer. A lot of people go back and forth, trying to create a version of the character that's a good guy who takes no prisoners or an asshole with morals etc. I know people who, when it comes to Mass Effect 3, refuse to jerk Mordin around because his renegade fate is so heartbreaking for them that they can't bring themselves to do it. By the same token, there are players in Mass Effect 3, and I count myself as one of these, who pick the "screw you" option at the end of the game, even though it means dooming the galaxy, because the 3 other choices given to the players make absolutely no sense whatsoever either for the plot or the version of Shepard they've created. In fact, by the time you get to the third game, I would consider looking into one of the ending mods and showing an ending that's not in the main game or extended cut. That ending is so divisive, not just in the choices but the fact that those particular choices are presented in the first place, that it might be better, even interesting, to give them an ending that's not in the game. Then there are things like the Collector Base in ME 2 that seem important but what you choose to do with it has pretty much no consequences in ME3 apart from a change in some dialogue. If you choose Morinth over Samara, she shows up in ME3 as a random enemy whereas if you choose Samara, you get content with her in ME3. The general rule of thumb with Mass Effect is to save all your friends and even a few of your enemies. Ending the Geth War for example can go three ways. Side with the Geth, Side with the Quarians or convince them both to find another way. Most people go with the third option because who wants to see Shepard fail one of his friends? Plus, saving both of them gets you more war assets (not that they ultimately mean much besides determining how many terrible options you're given at the end). The extended cut, with the added material on the Citadel where you throw a party, further encourages the player to be the good guy. The notion of choice in Mass Effect is ultimately an illusion. There's the "correct" way to play as designed by Bioware and the "alternative" way that gives you a few different scenes but takes away more than it adds to the game.
jedsithor That's especially evident in ME3 since it actually has the Action Mode. If we ever wonder how Bioware want us to play the game and how they think the story should turn out, then Action Mode is all the proof we need that choice was always trivial to the ultimate outcome. You're right, to them there is a "correct" way to play the game
I'm pretty sure that the voice actor for Harkin (36:10) also plays the drunkards around Skyrim. Whoever he is, he plays drunk guys really well. Maybe he's just drunk 24/7.
Thanks for this vid. In anticipation of Andromeda, I am diving back into ME lore (Listening to the Audio books that flesh out Anderson's past, watched "Paragon Lost", etc etc) and I'm back into the main trilogy, kinda. I REALLY wanted to dive right into ME2 since I think it may be the greatest game of the decade but I also wanted a crash/refresher on ME1 so i'm watching this in my bits of additional free time as I run through the ME2 game. Again, appreciate the upload. :)
Great job on the video man, really enjoyed watching this. I agree with a lot of commenters on the whole "I couldn't replay this", but I wanted the fix of the video! :)
I read somewhere that saren was supposed to have more character models for us to visualize his upgrading into a synth gradually. Instead we got him already with robot upgrades from the beginning. Would make more sense to the story. But still good game
fantastic work on this GLP! I know you from Dante's Inferno video you did and I'm simply amazed by the quality of your videos :) Good luck for your next works :D cheers~
the only complain that i have about this game is the exploration, the planets were too blank, so the mako didn't shined like it should, good vehicle bad environments. And then, not having a salarian party member. The Salarians were one the three most important aliens species in mass effect galaxy, and then games didn't shown their importance with numbers. And almost very important specie was represented in our team in the first game.
This is very admirable. Great work, guy. Just a little suggestion though - a fade to white isn't a very appealing transition IMO. A fade to black is more soothing to the eyes, I think. Other than that, this is a well-edited video.
When Ashley says "you'd better" that's when I fell for her. The happiness in her voice had me like😍😍. Likewise withTali. Although when ME2 came out Tali became #1.
Hey, just want to give a shout-out to everyone at gamer's little playground who put in the time and effort to make this Gamemovie. Great quality keep up the great work. Thank you :D
I remember walking into the now extinct "Blockbuster" and seeing this game. Looked interesting, so I rented it and instantly fell in love with it. Back then was the best time for video games. Nastalgia is a bitch.
okay, i i think the Geth were also an inspiration behind my Rozara Pengo character and her army of machines. think of her as Saren, leading the Geth, but she doesn't have to verbally give them commands. she can do it with her mind as though she's linked to them.
To be honest, those two combined are what truly drew me to the Mass Effect series. It proved to be a lot more than I expected ... Best franchise I've ever played.
Sadly I own Mass effect 2..but I have the shittiest laptop in the world. I mean i can play it, But it would just be the lowest quality....So I guess Ima just waste the 5$ I spent on the game on steam and just watch somebody elses gameplay....
That's a pity. Mass Effect 2 is a great game. I must say that's what I started off doing as well, but it's nothing to worry about now, though. Luck be to you.
You know, when Saren talks about becoming the reapers servants, what made him think it was going to work? With as many times as the cycle went on for, others must have had the same idea and still ended up dead.
I've played Mass Effect 2 and 3 and I've heard the shooting aspect of the game is not as good as the other two games in spite of the good story telling. So, should I play the actual game or just watch the cutscenes here instead??
It's still well worth playing since there are so many things we cut out for the purposes of watching a video. Somethings will be boring watching but fun while you're playing. The mechanics are definitely not as good as 2 and 3, but still worth playing in my opinion.
Thank you for responding, sir. I was hoping you guys would respond. Anyway, I'll play it now that you've recommended it. Thank you for all the effort you put in. Keep up the good work!! :))
Like yourself I've played both ME2 and 3 before i wanted to give ME1 a try, the combat is far different from 2 and 3. In my opinion i couldn't bring myself into finishing ME1. I played the first mission and then called it quits.
Tony Cliffton Believe me, the second is the best out of the series. The third one is great too. The third one improves the shooting mechanics and refines it. But the ending of ME3 will disappoint you.
I've finished ME2 and ME3 but never saw ME1 as a PS owner. Didn't think it'd be so impressive, surely it's only a matter of time before we see a Mass Effect film trilogy.
Really? I got this game on PC and the graphics are no where near as good as that!. I even got some mods from nexus to improve the graphics and yours is still alot better
Ashley is a girl that had a crush on a commander that saved her. From each game, she attend to confess her love to shepard until the players decide her faith. Can't argue with a girl who is willing to show her worth or confession to a kind commander.
I liked Ashley then she became racist then it all changed. Edit: Some people have come out to say that I’m a snowflake because of what I said. Maybe because the comment came up as bratty or dumb. What I more accurately want to get across is that I hate how she is so close minded, prejudiced and distrustful. It kind of turned me off.
I hated her right from the beginning. She kept making mean, annoying little comments as I was exploring the Citadel, in total awe. She ruined the moment. I killed her in the first game, without hesitation. My brother told me to keep her alive for the boob-job in game 3, but as I explained to him, not even the fact that I like girls could make me NOT murder Ashley in coldblood.
Very nice, though a few key conversations were missing (Han Olar talking about the rachni). Also, I would have gotten Liara earlier and brought her along to Noveria.
You know, if you said Figures when Wrex said "Bastard didn't even thank you.", Shepherd does an insane burn against politicians. "What did you expect from a politician?"
Such a good game. Saren is a good villain(tool) and the mystery behind the reapers is still very much a huge mystery. Just amazing. Oh and damn, first time I heard what Vigil said, about the cycles and all... It felt so massive, something incomprehensible...

U got your wish :)
I was used to Andromeda and actually found I prefer the old style of game. I love the role play aspect that really wasn’t there in 2 and that really put me off
Your in luck! Bioware is remastering the whole trilogy and on top of all that, their making Mass Effect 4. Maaaan I can't wait!
The score at 2:32:00 is phenomenal.
I always went with spacer, soldier and survivor of Akuze. I was disappointed that you couldn’t go to Akuze and see the apparent statue that was put up by the Alliance.
So many great conversations were missed with this movie, but it is still great!
This is better than most movies I've seen, thanks for the upload
ALMOST
Great stuff the paragon/renegade difference.
ME 4......2016 cant get here soon enough.
This aged well.
I'm pretty sure that the voice actor for Harkin (36:10) also plays the drunkards around Skyrim. Whoever he is, he plays drunk guys really well. Maybe he's just drunk 24/7.
+random commenter Embrace democracy, or you will be eradicated!
Excellent story thus far Sirs, I am too old to play but I've always been into Syfi. Keep up the great work PEACE :-)
I still like how humans convinced the aliens to adopt English as a universal language lol.
They don't. Every species communicating with one another have built-in translators.
SOOOO MUCH NOSTALGIA watching this OMFG TYVVVM 4 UPLOADING THIS TO RUclips!!!!!😁😜😆😃😜😁😆😃😄😜
"Or I'll blast your virtual arse into actual dust!" Omfg lol!
Great job on the video man, really enjoyed watching this. I agree with a lot of commenters on the whole "I couldn't replay this", but I wanted the fix of the video! :)
3:01:08 "Wow I just accidentally uncovered the news story of he century. Better be polite and ask no more questions" - No journalist ever
I read somewhere that saren was supposed to have more character models for us to visualize his upgrading into a synth gradually. Instead we got him already with robot upgrades from the beginning. Would make more sense to the story. But still good game
Wow.. I watched the entire thing.. great job putting it together!..
This was brilliant thanks for your time and efforts. Cheers.
I love the video, could have less game play in it but still awesome! Great job!
Those Geth stalkers are so cool, it would have been nice to keep them for the whole series.
fantastic work on this GLP!
Other characters have been made important
I forgot how much those charging Geth scared the crap out of me.
2:06:37
Shepard: *Friend* of yours?
Wrex: I don't have any friends; ask Fist; if we don't make it out of here.
thank you so much for youre hard worrk!
10:46-
Ok? What's going on to Lt Kaden?
I must go, my people need me XD
*pointing at thin air* "I need you to stay focused Kaiden"
Thank you for doing about time I found cutscene of mass effect with the decisions I would have made
This is very admirable. Great work, guy.
Just a little suggestion though - a fade to white isn't a very appealing transition IMO. A fade to black is more soothing to the eyes, I think. Other than that, this is a well-edited video.
Also, when one hears Dr. Chocolates instead of Chakwas you know you are in deep
This was INCREDIBLE!
this is the best of the three. Maybe because they focused their efords on the main game and not on dlcs
Although I really appreciate the video and it is a good watch, did you have to choose Paragon for nearly all the dialogue? 😪
When Ashley says "you'd better" that's when I fell for her. The happiness in her voice had me like😍😍. Likewise withTali. Although when ME2 came out Tali became #1.
Best Sci-Fi Movie I have seen in a while.
Lol, the faces look better than andromeda!
Hey, just want to give a shout-out to everyone at gamer's little playground who put in the time and effort to make this Gamemovie. Great quality keep up the great work. Thank you :D
why not investigate more? many things i was curious about that you didn't select.
WOW just found this one really coll thank you
Please, up the stairs past the freighter....ROCKET TO THE FACE!!!
10:52 lol good old mass effect
than you 4 this .... I friken love it.
I am honestly questioning myself if I'm watching the Mass Effect series for the sex or the amazing graphics and animation and plot...
Why does it need to be one of those 4?
Can't wait for the remaster 🚀
There is no sound in space....
You know, when Saren talks about becoming the reapers servants, what made him think it was going to work? With as many times as the cycle went on for, others must have had the same idea and still ended up dead.
🤓 Thank you watched all three just commenting in reverse Truly appreciate the work it took.👍👍👍
Rip garrus one of my favorite characters in mass effect
Sebastian Joseph Mass Effect 1 is the best one actually..
I've finished ME2 and ME3 but never saw ME1 as a PS owner. Didn't think it'd be so impressive, surely it's only a matter of time before we see a Mass Effect film trilogy.
One month later, the Council is like, haha just kidding! Now that Shepard is dead, we can go back to sweeping everything under the rug.
very enjoyable video. Just like i would have wanted it :)
Very nice graphics mods, well done on the video
lol not sure if this was a joke, especially since you're not the first to say something similar to do this, but it was done on the 360
Who'd be able to resist such feminine charms.
Having my Shepard yell at her when she made rude remarks about Liara was cathartic. Leave her ass on Virmire all the time
I kept Ashley around because I'm not an oversensitive snowflake
MWB Gaming , Well buddy it’s true she is racist. And it doesn’t even matter I’m not a snowflake, I'm conservative ;-).
I have played this game so much I've literally memorized every line.
I absolutely love it when games start of like movies. It feels so damn Emmerssive !!!
Personally, I can't resist punching the reporter.
Not that I have any particular dislike toward her, it's just... because you can.
+noukami22 Then throw her out the airlock.
It's a shame he chose to be civilised Haha!
She's hot AF, no way I can punch her lol
Very nice, though a few key conversations were missing (Han Olar talking about the rachni). Also, I would have gotten Liara earlier and brought her along to Noveria.
The first voices i recognized were of Gen.Shepherd and Sgt.Fowley's voices from Modern Warfare 2 and 3.
You know, if you said Figures when Wrex said "Bastard didn't even thank you.", Shepherd does an insane burn against politicians. "What did you expect from a politician?"
Doing renegade with the Krogan battle master is fun.
"We don't have time to deal with this idiot, charge!" He approves even!
Nice to know Spec Ops: The Line's Cpt.Walker continued his military experience.
Such a good game. Saren is a good villain(tool) and the mystery behind the reapers is still very much a huge mystery. Just amazing.
Oh and damn, first time I heard what Vigil said, about the cycles and all... It felt so massive, something incomprehensible...
