- Review Of The All New Dodge Challenger RT 5.7L V8. Test Drive, First Driving Impressions, And Review | Lawsons Car Reviews.
I absolutely love this car from the styling, sound, interior layout etc. I found it really comfortable being a taller guy. The trunk space way way bigger than i expected also. I fit two decent size cases in there.
The handling on this car was way better than expected given that it is such a heavy car it was a nice surprise. And even though the 0-60 time is officially 5.1 seconds i was able to do it in 5 seconds flat. The car comes with cool performance info in the dash. I also found that the gas mileage was actually really good while i was highway driving (24.5mpg).
I own a mustang and have driven many, and I have driven many Camaros, but they are both more sports car like than muscle car. And they are both good. But if you want to have that old school styling, sound and feel I think you have to go with the New Dodge Challenger.

The car has such a great road presence and great sound
I feel they really knocked it out the ball park with the 2019 and up models
Just picked up a Octane Red 2019 Rt. Absolutely love this car Color is amazing. Put blue hood and rear fender graphics on. BEAUTIFUL!
I'm glad you could get one!
Great review, the 5.7 does get up and go....plus Insurance is cheaper than the 6.4, and it uses regular gas.
Couldn't agree with you more.
I'm sold i hope to lease one for around 370$ a month if u can
Awesome. You won't be disappointed
@@josephpuzzo1 $370 a month is doable..
It’s a decent car and it’s fast compared to some v4 and v6 cars.
As a muscle car it’s good inside a bubble. Outside the bubble when compared to other entry v8s it’s a joke.
An eco Mustang may gap it.
I pick mine up tomorrow in the granite color and it's like the night before Christmas man I can't wait.
You're a lucky guy
Was there any other car you was looking at too?
How is the new Challenger you just got?
Devon Asher hows your car man?
I really want to know how it is too
Absolutely love this car. Definitely my next toy. My 2005 Magnum RT has held up well but time for an addition to the family lol
Its a good driving car and cruiser. You can definitely fit 2 suit cases in the back and you can make it a lot faster with just a few small mods.
That's not long to wait. You're lucky
@@july8388 did you bought it?
this video makes me happy, i’ll have mine in the spring!
Congrats
You're lucky
Beautiful car man nice sound and that challenger rt is plenty quick be a great cruiser too 👍👍😁
All 100 percent true
This car is so sick
It is
About to get a 2019 RT Great Review !
Congrats and thank you
Got mine a few weeks ago. Stars and stripes Edition RT. Really enjoying it so far.
Congrats. I loved this car. What the heck is the Stars and stripes version? Murica lol
It's a stripe down the middle of the car, flag decals on the front fenders, black wheels and bronze star and stitching on the seats. Military style theme.
@@knifedudetodd ok now I'm gonna have to Google this
Any issues today?
No issues
Car is amazeballs
Heck yes it is
Fantastic 👌
Man i do miss this car. This was the first one i actually uploaded. Hence why it's my avatar!
Finally Bought mines I love it!!!🙏❤️
What kind did you end up getting?
@@LawsonsCarReviews 2019 r/t
What color?
@@LawsonsCarReviews indigo Blue
Whhhhoooooo. Welcome to the Mopar family. I'm just an honorary member lol
I had A 2018 challenger RT I had the car straight piped it sounded amazing! Loved that car!
What color?
@@LawsonsCarReviews it was red idk what exact color red it was but it looked niice
I reviewed a red 2019 also on the channel
@@LawsonsCarReviews My current ride is A 2020 hellcat redeye il post A video of it sometime
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
They don't have one touch up because the window actually drops a half inch when you open the door until the door is completely closed, that's for a better seal on the window.
True, but both my mustang and my Camaro does that too. And they both have auto up and auto down
Giddy Up 😂🤣😂I love this car💪🏽💯
This one was my favorite
I got one coming in Thursday a 2019 challenger R/T
Buying or renting?
Buying
Sweet what color
Dream car
💯
I just bought a 2019 R/T today, waiting for the delivery this week. So stoaked! I had a 10’ R/T and a 16’ Hellcat but downgraded to an suv for family purposes however I don’t fit like I do in a challenger (I’m 6’10”) so I had to switch over to the R/T and just rip it up.
Also for those who say “you can use regular gas” yeah you can also drive it in the snow.. doesn’t mean you should though xD
Congrats
Great Car on the outside, Cloth Seats Ugh!! Nappa Leather Seats should be standard equipment for that price tag
You know the leather seats are awesome. But honestly I was really surprised at how good these base seats are. The are really well bolstered and even hug your shoulders well. And I don't usually like cloth myself
The windows are not auto-up because it's a safety feature from Dodge, not because of pricing my friend. I enjoyed the video :)
Thank you. Lots of cars are auto up too though
I have the RT Plus Shaker version in a 6 speed... Menacing, and great fun! Red-eyes are great, but over kill...lol
I think the V8 N/A Trims are plenty of street able performance...IMO
The red eye is crazy. Sooooo much power!
Watching this before I get my 2022 Challenger r/t in July. I had it custom ordered. It'll be the white knuckle exterior with black and Ruby red leather seats, black wheels and sub roof. I also purchased the plus package😁.. I'm super excited I can't wait
Congrats 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I believe the challenge even outsold the mustang last month.
@@LawsonsCarReviews interesting! Yeah I was debating on getting the GT for the AWD but I figured I could just get the r/t for about the same price and 70 more hp and just put snow tires on it for the winter🤷
Guess it depends where you live
@@LawsonsCarReviews well I love in Colorado but still though, wouldn't you agree the r/t with snow tires is the better option??

I want that hood on my 2018 challenger n l'll be super happy .
Its perfect
Is it okay when your cleaning the car and if water from the hose goes into the hood scoop?
Yes it's not going to break anything just make sure that you don't stick the hose in the scoop and spray for 5 minutes. That night be a bad idea
No issues at all. Even with no scoop, hoods and grilles suck in tons of water when you’re driving in the rain.
This is a really funny question. Asking for a friend huh 😉😉😉. I have no idea I've never purposely flooded an engine bay before lol
I’m gonna get one in 1 or 2 years, I’m so excited
I think you'll really like it!
We got one from Enterprise rental last year on free up grade, for our trip to Orlando. It was the best 6hr drive I’ve ever had in a rental.
I can second that for sure
Me to ended up buying one weeks later
How has it been
@@LawsonsCarReviews love it! Its a fun car 4.7 0-60 and I'm all stock and it seems to run good on any grade gas
I think you should be using 89 pump gas minimum though
Giddy up! 🤣
Sorry I get excited
Is the gas pedal on this 5.7L as sensitive as the 6.4L v8s ? I want a challenger and cant decide between base v6 3.4L sxt or the rt 5.7 because of the sensitivity and if ill get used to it or not
Explain what you mean by sensitive gas pedal?
@@LawsonsCarReviews You touch it and it just yeets forward instantly
I personally don't think it is. But depends on your driving experience. Also you may just have a heavy foot
So I finally got to drive a 392 last week. And I can now answer your original question. No the gas pedal on the 5.7L is not as sensitive and immediate as the pedal on the 6.4L. There is definitely a difference. But I think you can get used to either one. And if you have the 6.4L in the least aggressive driving mode it's fine
@@LawsonsCarReviews thank you for your insight!
i have one just like it - white - less than 1k miles - i had trouble removing those yellow protectors so i put black tape to hide --- so much for my abilities - i am not too wild about the tone of the exhaust
Really. They come off pretty easy I thought
I had the resonators removed, sounds way better!
Oh man I'd love to hear that. Does it drone much on the inside with no resonators?
Take it back to the dealer and tell them to remove them. They should do it for free.
How much does it drone though
Have to disagree about the backseats. They are quite spacious enough for usage
For children or small adults yes
have a white same year model like the one above --- the only thing i don't like is the muffler system - sport mode or not -----it is like banging a drum instead of a muscular understated tone ...oh well it is my third one so i guess they are ok
You must love it if you've had 3
@@LawsonsCarReviews ya it is kinda like a chancre it grows on you
They can be modified My mid muffler delete sounds pretty nice
@garybishop4030 i think they sound good anyway
Does this trim come with remote start?
I actually can't remember if it did or not but, I drove a nice red one I haven't posted yet that was almost identical and that did have a remote start. That's coming soon
@Lawson's Car Reviews It’s ok, no worries 😎💯
It does I have this exact same car except mine is Grey
Thanks. I couldn't remember on this one. I drove it months ago
I've had the challenger sxt v6 for years but the time has come and I shall be trading it in tomorrow for the 5.7 v8 challenger.. gotta get it now because the hemi is officially retired for ever.. no more In Production
It will be a nice upgrade. But the whole electric thing is a tragedy
@@LawsonsCarReviews ain't that the truth
I'm honestly not looking forward to reviewing electric cars that are silent
This is a true muscle car look. Looks mean
It's one of my favorite
True muscle car looks
No doubt
I'm driving one right now. I might have to buy one for myself.
What's your other option. I feel like if you're a bigger guy this is more fitting than the mustang and camaro
What are u guys favorite color of the challenger???
I can't pick one. There's too many I like.
The only things that I would change on my 09 is the hood, interior and an 8 speed auto
Yes the new hoods are awesome looking in and the 8 speed very quick shifting. And the dash is great. Do you have a manual?
Lawson's Car Reviews nah it’s the 5 speed but it’s still strong both motor and transmission with 225k plus miles that’s a “shitty” DODGE for those who like talking trash on them. only thing I replaced was fuel pump, oil pressure switch and gas cap and wallah no more check engine since 2009
Sounds like it's running strong
Lawson's Car Reviews it is. went neck to neck with the charger but he got me because of the 8 speed
How far ahead was he in the end
I'm between this a 370z or a wrx premium damnit It's difficult for me to choose
Man that is a hard three to choose from. WRX is a wonderful car, the sti even better. I've driven both. The 370 is an awesome car to drive too but a little outdated in many ways. But as you can tell I love this car too. They are all so different I would have a hard time picking one.
@@LawsonsCarReviews I might go to the 3 dealerships and come down to price and which one I enjoy the most
Let me know how that goes. Will be interesting to here what you pick and why
@@LawsonsCarReviews sure man thanks for the review, I've never owned an American car besides an suv the 2008 dodge nitro and it was fun ass hell so now I'm considering going American muscle
Ramon Zavala did you make a decision lol I’m a random person but I can’t decide those 2 as well not even lying it’s hard I’ve test driven both and there both so damn good but to mod and work on an rt would be easier and cheaper to maintenance so ima stick with the rt tbh
Im debating... Camaro rs or challenger rt
Tough choice. I went with the Camaro but depends what you're looking for exactly
Hit me up if you've got questions
shoutout alabama LMFAO
Lol
Huntsville here 256
I was in Georgia when I had this car
Did u say Demond?
What do you mean?
I May have said demond lol..... Correction demon
Giddyup
Hey you gotta ride those ponies hard
Has anyone here converted to ethanol?
Not sure
It’s not a truck it’s not suppose to have a giant side view mirrors
Yeah but it would still look ok if they were bigger. Or it needs to have blind spot mirrors built in like Ford mirrors do
The mirrors are bigger on the Charger. You can get a package called blind side detection, it's around a $1,200.00 option.
Oh I know. I'm just pointing out the things I notice
How many miles do you get on a full tank
That's a Google question sir
@@LawsonsCarReviews google just gives me the MPG. I want real answers from owners lol. I
@jeremycanas679 i have a Camaro now though. also id say the combined mpg is really between 18-21 mpg
@@LawsonsCarReviews right but how many miles does it say when you fill up all the way lol. Doing the math I’m going to assume an RT gets around 280-320 miles on a full tank.
i have 2018 rt..6 speed manual...drive only when roads are dry !!!!!!!! worst car i have ever had when roads are wet..c-
Hey that's the beauty of it
Just turn on the traction control and you should be okay 🤔🤔👀

Huh??
V6 camaro does the same numbers and that rt is 5.7 v8
Yup their 0-60 specs and 1/4 mile specs are almost identical. I love them both
I've beaten several LS Camaros with mine... And Mustang 5.0s, not that it matters.... I love Challengers...lol
Btw those are non functional hood scoop for the r/t
Looks amazing though. How hard is it to make it functional?
That’s not true they are..
If you look at the 2 minute 14 second Mark when I close the hood you can see the hood scoop is real not fake. It's a real vent that goes into the engine bay
Scoop IS functional.
It sure is
Enterprise rental
Yeah only in big cities do they have the RT though
Lawson's Car Reviews not true at all. Here in Georgia they are at every rental car place
Mostly true though. Most have the sxt. I traveled to a lot of airports last year
You're lucky in Georgia
Your mustangs back seats are useless I’m 6 foot tall and I fit quite well in the chally even with my brother same size as me driving
I had three kids in the back of the Challenger. One was in a car seat
Lawson's Car Reviews back in 09 I had 4 friends in the back cramped up but it was hard to fit 2 in a 40th anniversary gt shitstang..
I like all of the muscles cars that are out today. Just preference really. I'd get the charger if I want more of a family car
Lawson's Car Reviews agree fords Chevys what ever you got
Wish the exteriors were nicer
Which part
Lol
i have a 2018 challenger..can't wait to get rid of it..worst car in wet weather
Is that the only thing you hate about it
Mopar or no car
It's a beast but so is the mustang gt and Camaro ss and bmw m3, m4. So I wouldn't go that far
