You just saved us! My daughter was stranded an hour from home after work with a dead key fob in freezing weather. This worked like a charm on our 2019 Hyundai. Thank you!
This video saved me! I was stuck at the gas station for 20 minutes with a car that wouldn't start because of the dead battery. I didn't know about the battery trick until now. Thanks so much for sharing!
Wow this video really saved me!!!... I left my keys in a bag of gifts with my 19 yr old grandson... We both drove back to our respective homes which was an hour and a half away in different directions!!... That's when I discovered I didn't hv my keys!!!....once at home my spare key had a dead battery at 1:30 in the morning!!!... and I have to be in work at 9:00AM!!!... So he'll overnight the keys and I'll have them in two days and I don't have to spend $40 bucks for 2 days for an Uber or locksmith!... Tks sooo much for this video!!!...
I cried at the thought of it happening !!....I stated in another comment in my ignorance that I would have immediately called out the garage £200 down the shoot. 😄
Terrific! I began to panic when my key fob wouldn't open my car door. Now I know how to change the battery and use the key until my new battery arrives, thanks to you! You made it simple to follow! Thanks so much!
Holy Crap!! Stranded in Safeway parking lot after working a 12 hour shift. Had to open my vehicle with my phone app but could not start it. This video saved the day! Much appreciated!
I love how you say "Alright, let's go!". Awesome demonstration, easy to follow along. My key fob is fine but I wanted to know how to do this and am about to try it out. Thanks for your video!
What a great video - clear and to the point! I just bought a battery to keep in the car as backup, but knowing this works relieves the back of my mind - on the road a lot far from anywhere.
In my ignorance I was FREAKING out at the thought of it happening to me. I'm 74 and just cant be doing jacking the car up, stripping have the engine just to sort this out !! 😃😃😃
Thanks brother. I'm 74 and have the i40 premium. 2012. 40.000 on the clock. Need to change battery (no probs u Tubed it) But I didn't know you could start it like that !! I've been terrified this may have happen to me and would have NOT have hesitated to call the garage out ! Who EVER said ignorance is bliss, I would like to meet him and kick his behind ! Thank you for saving me a couple hundred quid then. 😄 Subbed.....look forward to more vids. Have a good week end !
@@fixandplay826 i seriously can’t be more grateful for this simple video so much could make my appointment. I couldn’t for the life of me figure this out . After doing a search and coming up with not adequate information to start my car with a dead pod battery. There are videos how to open the car but not how to start he car even though the links advertised “”start your car with dead pod battery” Finally I was lead to your video and such a quick easy and workable solution. 👍🏼😊👍🏼 Your video saved me from missing a very important meeting . ❤ Again thank you for the work and time to create this very easy to understand trick to start my Kona with a dead pod . 😊
Thank you much!! I took my dog to the park and when I returned my car wouldn’t start! I was freezing my ass off and running nose with no tissues but my gloves! Then I got my cold phone out and RUclips this video! Thanks again for the short direct clip❤
That was a very useful tip. I’m hoping you can help with this. Do you know how to remove the negative battery cable “cover” or “protector” on a 2020 Elantra. The pos cable cover has a clip release on it and was very simple but the neg cable cover is totally different. It appears something has to be pried loose to release the cover but I don’t have a clue what to pry on. If you have a video please include a link.
I noticed my doorlocks were not always working 1st try on my Sonata. Then I started getting the no key message. Thanks you for showing how to change the battery and how to start. I was just smacking the remote around and holding it close to the button but I guess eventually that would have failed.
Thank you for this. I have a question. When driving the airbag logo illuminated it happed twice in a week. It goes away after a minute. What could that mean?
Have it checked. That could be a wiring or sensor issue. Problem is being intermittent it might be hard to pin point unless the dealer or your mechanic has some kind of scan tool that can read what was triggering the light.
Nice. For me ona Tucson 2012, I just have to insert the key in the Smart Keyholder slot, located at the center console box and it will start. Also, the alarm would turn off too. What I want to know is where can I find the key hole because my fob is not working even with a new battery. I have seen videos saying that it can be reconnected / synchronized by inserting the key in the ignition switch and turn back and forward several times. I hope anyone will help me out.
Anyone know how long this works for ? My fob was run over by a car today, just my luck, but it starts when I hold the key to the button. Will this work for the next week until I can replace it ??
I have lost the fob but have the mechanical key (they came apart). Can the mechanical key alone start the car? I have 2014 Santa Fe sport with push button start.
This happened to me last week. Car wouldn't start, got the message Key Not Found. Pressed the start button with the key fob -- nothing happened, car wouldn't start. We called Hyundai assistance, who sent a tow truck. The driver jump-started the car, and the key fob has been working fine ever since. Anyone else have that happen?
Me too. I depress the brake and nothing runs on in the car. Not even the lights or dashboard. My clock randomly resets too. I'm guessing my battery is going dead...any other thoughts?@@fixandplay826
I'm sure by now you have a solution, but for other people reading this, there is usually a smart key location in your car, where you need to set the dead key fob in order for the car to recognize it. Usually it is somewhere in the center console or golve compartment. Guides say to make sure the battery buttons are face up. For bonus frustration, range rovers, instead of pressing the button with the dead key fob, need to have the keyfob held against the steering column on the left side of the steering wheel.
@@fixandplay826 Yes. I think it was a loose connection on the car battery - we noticed while jump starting it that a bolt was loose. Let's hope that tightening that loose bolt fixed it!

My 2011 Sonata has a fob slot in the middle storage console to put the fob in. Is this the older style?
I’m not sure exactly what you mean about a spot to put your fob
@@fixandplay826 2011 thru 2013 Hyundai have a slot to put fob, sort of like how a USB card inserts into a computer.

Because it's not fully dead, just very weak.
Is there a mechanical key for the 2024 Kona?
Had my Hyundai for 6 years and didn’t know this. Thanks!
