its muscle memory and timing. you feel your machine, you know how long it takes your hydraulic decouplers to disengage, your hands know where all the buttons are and how long it takes to lift and lower down to a perfect levelness of the bucket. atleast thats how i am with equipment, even after only using them for a hour after the first time.
I operate cat 983 in quarry. And It takes alot of experience to move that smooth and fast. You road ways are clean and your piles are maintained perfectly. Awesome to watch someone so efficient.
What a nice compliment Thankyou ! Most people wouldn’t notice those little details or know how hard it is to keep a yard clean. Always wanted to try out a big Cat the 983 must be a lot of fun.
Man such a smooth operator he's going for each load that the person is telling him to get for everybody that's getting materials he's dropping one front loader bucket to get another one amazing operator skills
I run a cat 980 and 982. Just got a new john deere 844l. 982 and 844 are both joysticks controls. I thought i would hate it. But i love it. I have too stay in a loader for 12 hr shifts. I work at a big sand mine. Our mine goes way back inside the hill. Under the main highway. Only lights u got are on the loader and big haul trucks. No daylight radios dont work. Because u are under ground that far. We run bigger buckets than factory. That bucket on the 924 looks small.
@Getsoil i run my blue tooth. Phones won't work underground. I like a cat loader better. Only think sucks about it. U can't get out of the loader. Like other people do. Have to feed a hopper. For 20 minutes, then the line is down for 10 minutes. The john deere burns from 80 to 110 gallons fuel in 12 hrs. Cat doesn't burn that much. I sure like the joystick steering. I like the quick attached bucket set up that you run.
@ozark_trapper man it’s so frustrating sometimes when you can’t get out. Especially if you have to go to the bathroom. I’m stuck when it’s busy . Sometimes I load a hopper with soil but for the most part I load customers with product. We have 40 different materials so that keeps things interesting. Are you loading in the dark all year around ? Would be tough not seeing the sun
@Getsoil no we blast on the surface too. When the line shuts off. Sometimes, there are haul trucks to load. We run big haul trucks. I work at the crusher a lot. It dont shut off in 12 hrs. Fill it up, and u have time to eat. Or goto the bathroom. I like the controls on your cat.
First just get really familiar with the machine by listening, feeling and watching everything that’s going on. It takes a while for it to feel natural but it will come. Just focus on being smooth and the speed will come naturally . I’m Happy to help you with and tips or questions you might have. Congratulations on the job!
que facil se ve, yo en mi trabajo manejo una loader algo mas grande, para cargar cáscara de avena, y es muuy dificil llevarla con la fluidez y suavidad que se ve a este hombre manejar. Buen video y buen trabajador!
Really appreciate this comment it took a long time to get to this level. Your exactly right I’m not thinking at all just driving to the music it’s a great feeling im very lucky to be in the position im in. It’s comments like these that make me appreciate my job more thank you 😊
Yeah these things take a beating especially in winter. Fortunately we don’t use ours in the winter. Mine is still getting pretty old it’s an 06 with 11 000 hours on it. I just try to baby it most of the time. Repairs are very expensive lol
I used to be the loader operator for a large hotplant op and it was like this all day nonstop in 4th gear feeding that bastard but the days went fast until they went into the night but they always bought dinner on those really long nights
Hey sorry for the late reply I took a break for a month. It’s hard being in the machine for very long periods of time . Definitely gotta have some good tunes to get you through!
Good evening, very good job. Excuse me, when you load the material, do you use the brake to reduce the effort of the loader arm? If so, does the brake use it completely at 3/4 or 1/2 tread please I will be attentive to your answer
Hello thank you for watching ! When I load material I hold my foot down on the brake and use the accelerator to give the arm more power if that’s what you mean ?
Thanks for the compliment ! I’ve been doing it for over 20 years now . I started when I was 13. Been driving this specific machine 924g since 07. Over 11000 hours in just that machine alone.
I used the joystick shifter forever but than I got really bad Carpal tunnel in my thumb so I had to switch to the column. I found the column was more fun anyway with the timing of the machine going back and fourth so often.
I asked caterpillar that same question and they says yes these machines have a special transmission. I try my best to be easy on it and i coast in neutral a lot .
@@Getsoil Even in my vehicle I try and come to a complete stop before switching, yet I see people do it all the time and I've always wondered. With equipment thought, it seems everyone does it, which made me start to wonder.
My machine is getting pretty old it’s a 2006 with over 11000 hours. We just got a smaller machine to save money. There’s a new hydrostatic system which uses the hydrolock system to shift back and fourth . It takes some getting use to but you can tell it’s a better system overall. It really amazes me how much abuse these machines can take and just keep going !
Never seen anybody so quick with switching out buckets, good job!
Just takes practice

good camera angle ! nice to see the efficient work !
Nice! having someone call out each load speeds things up a lot when you don’t have to communicate with each driver!
That sliding bucket change at 8:58 was great! Haha
That’s awesome you noticed that ! Thankyou haha
The driving skill is amazing.

The fact that you're loading that what is that a Chevy 1500 with a 924 you earned my respect how long was the bed on that truck?

this is seriously impressive man

Man I wish all the material I loaded was in the same area like this
It does help but sometimes working in a small yard is very difficult haha
Why not use your selector switch on the bucket and boom control? You would be even smoother lol . Nice video
I did for many years but I have bad carpel tunnel in my thumb now. I use it for an hour and my hand hurts for days lol
Nice video man
Thank you !
Very crafty and not his first day. He loaded the pickup at an angle instead of going in square to the body and didn't spill a drop.
Thank you !
love the music

Mainly just need to switch buckets on Rainey days when the material gets sticky . I have a stone and soil bucket to keep the materials from mixing
