The best way is to give the bearing time to suck in the oil. This significantly improves the amount of time between relubrication. The other major improvement possible on these is to clean all the drivetrain gears. Also they need to be installed the right way around, with the casting marks making minimal contact with either the chassis or other gears.
Interesting noise glad you fixed that . Looks like you need new traction tyres on the tender wheels. I had an Airfix deltic that did the same. Traction tyres can be got on ebay. Hope you get it sorted. Regards Paul.
You've done well to get rid of the squealing. Does this tender have traction tyres? Do the tyres go on the same side of the tender or on opposite sides, please? Does the locomotive ever seize up putting extra stress on the tender drive?
Well it's a Fleischmann copy... including the infamous dry bearing scream. Do these come with a felt ring around the bearing for extra oil storage or are they just pressed in ?
Theres a sinterd brass bearing where the shaft comes through the motor housing it needs to soak up some oil
Yeah I gave that bit some oil,,, maybe just a tad more of a tune up is needed

Yeah it has traction tyres on each side,,, it was ceasing up until I cleaned it up a bit,,, I still need to do some work on it

Yeah these do come with a felt ring although my 9F didn't and the tender is pretty Much the same
