Alan's point about horror writing resonated with me a lot. Existence itself is terrifying for many people (and only made more so by the political and economic worlds and their consequences) and so artificially creating horror scenarios seems entirely beside the point.

That's one way of looking at it, Horror fans often find the best of the genre provides both a therapeutic release from fear and anxiety, and an imaginative way to process rational and irrational concerns.

With all this superhero saturation & fatigue, we need things like Thunderman and Pat and Kevin's Marshal Law more than ever.

alan pronounced synecdoche correctly - and there's a tremendous film by charlie kaufman by the same name with philip seymour hoffman that seemingly no one saw or remembers - a truly poingnant film

That film is one of the first things I think of whenever I read the word synecdoche.

I saw it a couple of weeks ago in watching a series of films about nihilism.

Personally I don't think Dali was a fascist, I think he was only and always a Dali-ist and he said whatever shocking shit would draw attention Dali-wards.

I understand how you feel about Dali. I had a similar problem when I found out that Degas was a nazi sympathizer.

He passed away 3 years before the party was formed. I think you meant anti-semite, due to his stance regarding the Dreyfus Affair.

I feel like if you have subtitles the need for a deaf interpreter is superfluous and a distraction.

Most people jus listen to the audio, you're jus whiney

    • @thenumbdave

the subtitles are automatically generated and can't handle Alan's accent.

There's nothing indicating otherwise. Astroboy even did a cameo in LoEG, for instance.

He made mention in an article he wrote in Marvel UK back in about 81/82. I don't have the issue to hand to check but it highlighted the fact that there was a difference in attitude he liked.

@@KarlThompson-s7f I discovered that Alan Moore will write another comic about magic and the occult, I hope this makes him want to return to DC Comics, and write Twilight of Superheroes, given that the protagonist is John Constantine, a magician expert in occultism.
