- My Goodman Furnace blower was rumbling so I shopped for a replacement motor. There are so many choices and prices. You may have to google the customer # first to find the proper replacement number then go to Oozio.com with the superseded number. They have super fast shipping and an unbelievable price ($115). Do not rely on Amazon ($225-260), their prices are outrageous. Please read all the fine print before purchasing from other places. You might not get the proper motor. See link below. It is easy to replace if you have a few tools. I hope this video will help someone.

Thank you so much for showing how to remove the unit. I had a fragrance thing get sucked into the squirrel cage. With your steps, I was able to remove the blower and remove that hideous thing and get it all back together. I appreciate the time you gave to us for allowing us to not have to spend a couple grand to have this fixed. Thank You!
Hey. Glad I could help.
Came home today to this problem. Yours was the first video I came across. I don't think I am going to look for any more. We may even have the same model furnace! Fantastic job explaining. I am just trying to decide if I am brave enough to tackle this even though you made it look so easy.
You can do it. Try tightening the bolt on the fan shaft first. If that doesn’t work then go through the steps. Hopefully the squirrel cage comes right off for you. That would be the hardest part of the whole project.
Same here!! It was harder for me to find a a shop that would sell me the replacement motor then it was to actually replace it.
Thanks for the video. I have 2 Goodman furnaces that are in need of blower motor replacement. Before I saw this video, I was about to purchase a cross-referenced aftermarket (Packard brand )direct-fit motor from another supplyhouse but will buy the OEM motor from Oozzio for about the same price instead. My blower motors are 20 years old and have visible rust on the shaft, so I will buy the puller.
I’ve watched multiple replacement vids and this one is the best for diy.
Thanks. I try to get right to the point.
Thanks so much for sharing this video. I have the same issue with a noisy goodman furnace blower fan.
You did a great job explaining and showing how to do that. The lighting could’ve been a bit brighter. But other then that, awesome job.
This is exactly what I need....I have the exactly same problem. Thank you!!!!!!
Timely video. Mine has started rumbling at the end of cycles sometimes and I figured it was likely a motor bearing or something loose that I could just tighten up. Looks like I’ll be ordering one of these replacement motors.
Make sure you get the correct motor. There are so many aftermarket replacements. Search by part number and customer number.
Thank you very much. Just doesn't get any clearer than this. Maybe tomorrow I'll change it out. Motor on hand.
Good video, thanks. I have that problem, unit is 23 years old.
Thank you for the great video, straight to the point !!
Im about to give this a shot myself pray for me!🙏🏼😂
Excellet video, thanks for all the details and part references!
Thanks. Hopefully, it will save you money.
@@fixthemthings Finally got my replacement motor in the mail today and hooked it up. Had to pull out Mr. Sludge Hammer to get that old motor shaft off the blower wheel. But the house has aircon again. Thanks so much. Your video certainly saved me from an expensive technician bill!
@@marcusmclaren3729 awesome. Glad I could help.
Thanks for making this.
Thanks a bunch for the video. Do you recommend replacing the capacitor while replacing the blower motor?
You can if you want. They aren’t that expensive. Mine is still good.
Excellent Video
Thank you for the video. I have an Amana furnace where it appears the motor is gone. It starts to rotate slowly then suddenly stops with a clunk and repeats over and over again. I'm seeing b5 and b7 error codes. I'm able to spin the cage by hand so I know the rotor is not locked.
The furnace is just about 14years old and I'm at the fork in the road of should I repair or should I replace?
Very helpful video. Thanks
Thanks for the video
Great video!
Thank you so much. Question… if i call HWAC to come out and they diagnose the need for new blower and capacitor; should i replace or just replace the whole system which was put in 2008. Also, i know they run at various prices, but what is a high price and best price. I appreciate you! 👍
Well. I don’t do HVAC for a living but the indoor units will last a long time if properly maintained. The outside units are the ones that usually get replaced along with the coil. There is not much to the inside unit. Usually a relay burns on the board or capacitor blows out but I would say most of the time it will be worn bearings on the motor. Turn the unit off and reach in there and try to pick up and down on the squirrel cage blower. If it moves a lot replace the motor. I’m a DIY guy so I hardly ever call anyone.
@@fixthemthings thank you for taking the time to reply! Have a wonderful day!
Hello, This is wonderful information. I'm ready to order and replace a new motor for my Goodman unit, but I'm not sure the motor is my only issue. The motor runs quiet, but cycles up and down instead of running continuously. I was told by one AC company that the motor was reaching high amps and cutting off, then another estimator said there is a module that receives a signal from the circuit board that needs to be replaced that is only sold with the motor. I'm getting conflicting stories. Do you know what module he is referring to? Is it integrated into the motor?
Could be the circuit board if it has different speed control. I haven’t gotten that far into it. However, it sounds like the motor may be dragging causing the high amps from bearing wear. Higher load causes higher amps. Maybe the bearing frees up then speeds up. Turn unit off and spin squirrel cage by hand to see if it has drag.
@@fixthemthings thank you for your kind response sir, I' just checked the spin and it spins effortlessly, no noises or drag. I think my blower motor is more complicated than the one in this video. In addition to the black/ white/ ground power supply, there is a bundle of 16 white wires from the motor going to one plug on the circuit board , maybe controls for the variable speed. I can't see the part number on the motor without pulling it all out. I'm trying to find the link I came across a couple days ago for OEM Goodman parts where they offered a reasonable price for an entire circuit board, but neither repair company thought the board was bad, perhaps because the signal is being sent to start the blower motor? Could the problem be something as simple as the evaporator coils needing cleaning? Thanks again.
If it just hums is that the capacitor? I can turn it with my hand and it will start but same thing happens once it turns off and back on. How many capacitors are there for the blower?
Most likely the capacitor is bad. When you spin it and it starts, that tells you bad cap. I only know of one cap on my unit. That will be a cheap fix.
Thank you I just replaced the one on the outside unit
I have a B0 alert, which part is the circulator blower motor and which part is the inductor?
thank you so much. do you know the model of the Goodman? just bought a new home, with a Goodman furnace that looks just like yours with the same motor issue and noise.
GMS90703BXA. Does that help?
Sounds like a Ford Mustand exhaust😂
Thanks, !!!
my fjcken hero
Heck yeah! Hope it helped.
So if you don't feel comfortable working with electricity run off the switch that turns on the electricity.
My AC guy charges $2300 to change this motor. I'd better know how to do it myself.
And what so u mean by” you may have to google the customer service # first”? Or did you mean Their cust # maybe, tia derek
It’s easier to find the replacement motor using the customer number not the motor number.
Assuming I’ve been a customer before right? Just asking
@@gzman1 does your motor not have that cust number? If not, then search by motor number.
Loctite? I don't think so. this is not a high strength / high stress application. it ain't gonna come outta there.
But it’s a high vibration application. Can’t hurt at all.
it's not high vibration at all. there should be virtually zero vibration in that application whatsoever.
@@keemez wrong again, micro vibrations over time my friend
lulz. mkay.
Would this fix weak air flow?
Possibly, but doubt it. If it’s not going full speed or the squirrel cage is slipping on the shaft.
I would check your coils first. Could just be dirty. Clean the coils.
@@fixthemthings I can’t really access the evaporator coils unless the piping was cut. I cleaned off the coils on the outside unit
@@MoparGuy1625 Sometimes you have to pay an HVAC technician to do a evacuation, pull and clean, put it back in and re-charge. It isn't a cheap service though.
