It's more like 1/8 duration in practice, since in 3.5 and 3.6, you would've been running self-curse HH to farm.
You definitely need both duration and AoE with Winter Orb. An Unnatural Instinct near Potency of Will will get you tons of both. You need to get at least 25 AoE radius for the projectiles to overlap, but feels better closer to 28. Blast freeze or equivalent glove eldrich implicit will greatly enhance Herald of Ice, as will linking Awakened Inc AoE support. It does indeed miss out on many of the HH buffs due to not being physical. You don't need to charge that often, maybe a split second every 5-7 seconds, only needing the full 12 stages (w/ helm enchant) when dealing with tanky rares.
Blizzard crown is another option to greatly improve Herald of Ice, with a small loss of overall damage.
So basically worse than EK or BV :C
@@krmunoz2169 there are differences. For one, it's a autobomber, though with EK circle enchant it's a close play style. Second, it's ranged, BV you need to get up close and personal. Third, it can overlap it's projectiles and effectively shotgun single targets. It's a matter of taste and opinion with pros and cons.
Or u can just forget all of that and go winter orb cast when channeling lightning warp. Do all uber bosses pretty comfy last league with that build

I'm in love into winter orbs, fist time i see smn talk about thi skill, the only way i found to play it its power charge stack and omniscience.... but its too much expensive to just farm T16 normall , dont put alch on it.

I'd love a winter orb with dps in the top 15 with high quality of life. It would be like playing RF with double the effective range
I agree that Winter Orb inherently has flaws because of the many nerfs to damage, range especially and to some extent duration. It will not feel like it was back in the days it was a meta skill. However, I think with enough investment it can still be a very enjoyable build. Will it be able to do Ubers? Only if you invest heavily into single target. Generally it's still a nice build for mapping. Not to mention, in your setup you heavily gut your damage for quant and rarity in your build. You are sacrificing Power Charge ring slots, Badge of the Brotherhood, gloves, boots. Added some of the quant gear on my standard character, with the same wand, and it more than halved my damage output. Without the frenzy charges I'm sure the build is feeling clunky as hell too with barely any cast speed and movement speed. I would not recommend playing Winter Orb as MF.
i miss WO so much. yeah it was strong and needed ONE nerf, but not what it got. and compared to other skills and builds right now it does need some love. as well as other skills
Dude I totally agree it’s been nearly 2 years since WO or blade vortex were actually good right? Those skills made me fall in love with this game tbh. Thank god for bows this league tho

Winter orb is not like blade vortex where you can go 100% mf and get a feel good skill. However with player power itens is a good skill, one of the best for clear IMO
Wait a second, the other night i was doing some Mid Tier MFing in Standard, and dropped an elegent round shield, look at it didn't I.D it what so ever because i thought it was the Oppresser. So there goes the shield I have been trying to get for a long time. 😭
squire always has white sockets and therefore the item filter can hide the oppressor because any unique elegant round shield that drops without 3 white sockets is guaranteed to be the oppressor

IDK if the title is clickbait or not, but winter orb does suck balls lol.
Needs like a mirror+ to do what other builds can do under 20~30 divines I feel like.
Winter orb is the perfect example of how to nerf a skill into a pile of trash.
I can understand being hyperbolic in the titles of RUclips vids, but calling winter orb trash is a little ridiculous, especially since you were saying how smooth and nice it was to play in sentinel league while farming patient cards in promenade. And it’s been indirectly buffed a couple times since then, mostly through the masteries on the tree. If you’re only referring to a setup where you’re pushing the mf to the max, then I agree, it’ll be outshined by some other map blasting builds. Anyways, much respect!
@@bolasfury8909 Worb currently feels like castrated Blade vortex, which is funny). So basically kobe is 60-70% (mf is 100% correct) right about Worb Overall.
They need to significantly buff all Channeled skills. I wanna enjoy Divine Ire at a pace that isn't garbage but I don't think that can be helped when so many builds can lawnmower maps without stopping.
they didn't have to do this to winter orb, it was already pretty bad or atleast it was a decent mapper with a lot of investment which seems pretty balanced and it was used a lot less than many other clear builds

I don't know why they nerf the skills, instead of buffing the ones that no one plays so that the game has more different builds. The same with items.They made over 100 skills, but only 15% are played with some small variations...
