"Every meal is like a camping experience." _Yes, Sir! You'll find this kind of aesthetic experience only/mostly in the Province (Rural areas)... "The use of the banana leaf is quite utilitarian, I love it." _Glad that you love the idea with the Banana Leaf Utilitarian. Oh yes, Filipinos in general are quite creative when it comes to motivation. I myself a 100% Filipino (Cebuano). For 20 years of experience I lived in Cebu, I find Filipinos are Ingenious without BIAS. Though, I believe that every HUMAN has its own gift... " Glad to see the generosity of others is helping all those in need in your area. Love the family environment shared by all." _Now, this is what I find truly AMAZING with the Filipinos when it comes to GENEROSITY, and the like. Without a doubt that not only Filipino locals, but also Foreigner who visited Philippines are well-informed with the Filipinos Cultures. For years I live my life mostly in States, I could never adopt the Culture here, with no prejudice, lol. But every country has its own purpose. And so, I find Philippines STILL is a Sweet Home for me when the right time comes to live for good…
It reminds me when i was still in the philippines harvesting coconut with my father. We always cook sticky rice with tablea and coconut milk... How I missed those days
Tablea is the tablet form of cacao powder. Pure cacao when grounded is greasy due to its oil so its easy to form it into tablet. Its something Filipinos learned from Spain maybe by way of Acapulco. Sikwate is the local name for hot chocoloate drink good with puto maya (sticky rice). It's also good with ripe mangoes making it a traditional breakfast. Puto maya is not easy to make but I like how Raymond just cooked it like an ordinary rice. Typically it is steamed but that gets more complicated using two clay pots if no metal steamer is available. It's wrap in banana leaf when you buy it in the market. There is also a purple colored puto maya by adding a little bit of purple rice (tapul).
Hi Dustin and guys! Drinking buko juice in the morning, if you are not used to it, will give you stomach ache! Come back here after the end of the vlog Thank you sponsors for suggesting what food to prepare then giving out the money for that! You people are amazing! Thank you Dustin and raymond and community. This is a great series during corona which we will not forget!
Cacao is a chocolate tree. Those cacao seeds that you spit out and left to dry, when it gets dry we roast, peel and grind , then form it into round shapes. Yes you’re having hot chocolate . You should have Raymund show you how to make tabliya from scratch.
Your sooooo blessed having them as ur family bcz they treat u nice and they always make sure u are safe ,they take care of u specially ur health.and they are happy family,Raymund is not just a good cook he sings well too how lucky u are Dustine to be with this kind of family. stay safe and Godbless

Ha ha, the wife says she misses the simple province life and i said, let us set up our backyard with the simple fire pit (we have those cacao chips and brown sugar) Thanks Dustin for bringing those memories back for my wife! We miss Reche ...
Dustin, seems like U guys left Reche starving. She was not in the video. I used to drink Coconut Water before B'fast many times and nothing happened. I even tasted Fresh Toddy (Coconut Wine) early in the morning as that's when the Toddy is sweet. Later it turns sour and after a longer period it turns to Vinegar.
Yum!! During one of your Live Steam, I kept asking Raymund to sing Twinkle Twinke. He mentioned my name & comment and said, “Again?” Haha! I, too, sing it all the time. Idk why!! Haha
Raymond and Reche’s mom really cares about you. Drinking coconut juice in the morning with an empty stomach is not good. You’re going to have a tummy ache...well that’s what my grandma always tells me. And thanks for listening to her. Such a good boy lol.😝
True...its also a belief here. Reminds me of my late granfather who is full of superstitious. Now that he is gone i miss his ways and still dont drink coconut water early in the morning....but maybe good if you have problem.with no 2😂😂😂
I guess different provinces have different beliefs. I spent some time in a mountain village in Batangas years ago and all we had were coconuts. We drank it all day and even mixed it with liquor at night 😂. Mixed the meat with everything. Coconut meat with tomato based sardines! That was the first time I had it and it was awesome.
I love the litter of pups, they are so adorable and that tree is also my favourite spot too...who needs chairs when you have branches like that. Use to have a big water apple tree at my grandad's. We use to sit on it eating the fruits while holding our cups of dilluted soya sauce...😁
Wow that's my favorite when I was growing up especially for breakfast (puto maya, sikwati and ripe manggo) it's so yummy. Please Dustin try it so delicious too. Happy eating guys. I love watching every single videos.
Sikwate here in quezon is "tsokokate" , hot chocolate drink esp in early morning before going to our daily farm works, combining it with glotinous rice cooked in coconut milk- aromatic so good, in dumaguete market there a lot of stalls selling that organic natives foods---- healthy-----
@Ganda Gandara 'Sikwate' is actually closer to the Maya/Aztec original word 'Quetzalcoatl' the original name of the product brought by Spaniards from Mexico to the Philippines.
@@enixbluerain7213 yes po i have genuine certified criollo mother trees inhireted from my mother, "criollo"- the original specie or breed of chocolate tree brought here by the spaniards during those early colonization years-' so lucky our great grand mother took good care of the old old trees then my mom took over to reproduce the trees;,- the aroma, the taste, and most of all the aftertaste its diffrent,--'------'- maybe we can call it an "ancient aftertaste"-right mixture is if u have new breed of beans is ------ 1 part criollo and 9 parts crossed breed variety cocoa beans for great taste and aroma
Raymond missed his calling. He’s very funny. What you had is far far better than hot chocolate. It’s made with pure Cacao. Hot chocolate is very little Cacao and lots of chemicals and of course lots of sugar. Enjoyed the video. It inspired me to make something like that👍👏🏼❤️
Dustin you forgot to explain to raymond what ginger person is ..we don't have them in Pinas hence we don't use that term normally..have a great day guys.

Hello guys! Good Morning. I miss the puto and tablea - tableya (sikwate, hot cocoa with or without milk). Tablea is a ball of groundup cacao beans, pure, its roasted, ground and can also be a thick disk or flat, and even in a square form. The type of rice is called sticky, glutinous rice (it is called pilit or malagkit in Bisaya). Its very delicious! Dustin, its a blessing you are with locals experiencing Filipino foods and staying in a good family. Bring some of that tablea back here in the US to have your family try it. We cannot buy it in the US. Raymund is very kind and hard working guy. Take care, God Bless!

Dustin, a brick rocket stove will keep your hair intact and also control the fire output....and will not burn the surrounding area where you are cooking. I noticed a lot of burned area in their house..because there is no control if the fire grows larger (no fire extinguisher) , pls teach them to make brick rocket stove...they will love you for that...

Hey Alex I would love to! But I don't know how to make one. Is there special tools or materials we need?
Dustin, its very easy only using bricks, no tools required............here are the youtubers diy tutorial of the brick rocket stove...live simple, live free.......kgb survivalist...good luck....

Tablea is made from cacao fruit which is chocolate. Back in the states, tablea is called dark chocolate (100%). It's good for your heart.

Yeah! He is the real becoming filipino..😊
Hey thanks! Im loving it out here 🙏🙂
Holy sugar rush, wow. They love sweet food in the Philippines.
Last month I bought some peanut butter that was made in the Philippines and it was sweet too. It had almost as much sugar as peanuts in it.

Hi Dustin..its a reminder.. don't drink coco juice when you're hungry and also early in the morning drink when your stomach is full.
