    These are some really good tips! I am doing a supreme showmanship in my county and I’ve never shown a steer before.

      Are you doing round robin? Like you show horse, pig, dog, poultry, sheep, goat, dairy cow, and steer?

    Some people say to have all four feet square and some say to have the front square and then the back with one in and one out. Does it matter which one or is it just preference?

      Preferably left leg a little bit forward

    How do you get the right size show stick for your showman?

    • @nascofarmranch9683

      Buy a showtick on the length of the calf rather than the height of the exhibitor. Thank you !

    If the calf in front of you stops do you help them or do you just let them get it by them selves.

      Yes, the right thing to do is tail the calf in front of you if it stops. But also be aware if you have seen the calf kicking or ask the showman who is showing the calf if its ok for you to tail their animal.

    Ok y’all I need help I am getting a show heifer in a week. I’ve shown pigs all my life so now I’m trying heifers. I literally know nothing so I can use all the help I can get. I don’t know what to even do when I enter the ring lol!

      oH MY GOODNESS!! ME TOO!! i showed pigs all my life and i’ll never stop! i got a steer today. to practice and soon i’ll get a heifer. you gotta be really prepared for the transition. steers need to be washed everyday, walked and have to have time tied to a fence.

      I know I am replying a little late, but one of the things that I did to help me, was to just watch videos of people who have been showing for a long time, and get tips from the pros.

    Hi umm.. I have a question how do u get them to walk for u and also can they walk on gravel?

    • @nascofarmranch9683
      @nascofarmranch9683  4 года назад +4

      To get them to walk? First start with getting your calf halter broke, once halter broke to tie and comfortable with halter and being tied up then you can start walking them with rope halter. Most important thing is knowing that animal if comfortable with the person walking it, staying calm and collected and not pushing the limit to early will yield the best results. Yes cattle can walk on gravel, first few times might be new and uncomfortable so take your time but ideally walking them on grass would be best.
      Thank you & Good Luck!

    Would you move your hand down on the halter with a horned cow when setting up

    • @NascoEducation
      @NascoEducation 2 года назад

      It is not necessary to move your hand down the halter on a horned cow. The reason for keeping it close to the head is to maintain the head control of the animal in the show ring.
